Sino-Swiss Zhenjiang Ecological Industry Park Opening Celebration Days Wednesday July 2 – Saturday July 5, 2014 Sino-Swiss Innovation Center, Zhenjiang/Jiangsu, China Organizer: Co-organizer: Under the MOU of: Political Background The Sino-Swiss Zhenjiang Ecological Industry Park (SSZEIP) is the result of a bilateral agreement between the Chinese Ministry of Trade and the Federal Department of Economic Affairs aimed at promoting collabora- tion between Swiss and Chinese companies in developing an ecological industrial park. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Chinese Trade Minister Chen Deming and Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann on July 9, 2012. On July 10, a Framework Agreement was concluded between the Zhenjiang Economic and Technological Deve- lopment Zone (ZEDTZ) and Cleantech Switzerland. Location Zhenjiang Zhenjiang is located in the south western part of Jiangsu province and is home to around three million people. Enjoying an excellent geographical and strategic position, Zhenjiang provides high-speed rail services (e.g. Zhenjiang to Shanghai in just 50 minutes) linking three major business centers in the region: Nanjing, Shanghai and the Yangze River Delta business area. The Sino-Swiss Zhenjiang Eco Industry Park SSZEIP covers an area of 20 km2 and is part of the Zhenjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone which has a total area of 220 km2, located in the eastern suburb of Zhenjiang City in Jiangsu Province, the intersection of Yangtze River and Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It thus enjoys great geographical advantages complete with high-speed railway, highway and waterway integration. SSZEIP is being developed and built with Swiss technology, wherever the business case is proven. It is set to house a range of specialist institutes and accommodate a wide variety of laboratories, R&D centres, facilities for testing and certification of raw materials and management centres for pro- ject and technology development. The Sino-Swiss Innovation Centre is the symbolic heart of SSZEIP. It offers incubation space for SSZEIP clean- and high-tech companies. With a total gross floor area of 220,000 m2 incubati- on space is offered to house management and administration, workshops, R&D facilities and exhibition space for innovative Cleantech and high-tech products. This is the place where the official Opening Ceremony will take place. SSZEIP Opening Celebration Days, July 2 – 5, 2014 Completion of construction of the Sino-Swiss Innovation Centre will be celebrated on July 2 - 5, 2014 with a range of open day activities. For the official ceremony (only July 2) 300-500 invited guests from governments, business and media will attend the festivities honored with the presence of the Swiss Secretary of State Mrs. Ineichen-Fleisch and the Chinese Vice- Minister of Commerce (tbc). In addition most Swiss organizations active in China as well as many Swiss cleantech companies will be present. Besides governmental officials and business leaders, local people are invited to the public parts of the opening days. The SSZEIP Opening Celebration Days mark the successful cooperation which has taken place, raise awareness of Swiss innovation excellence and environmental protection technology, and foster business ties between Swit- zerland and Zhenjiang. The celebration days feature a number of elements: • Official Opening Ceremony, July 2 – With speeches by high ranking government representatives and parties involved in the project • Turn key ceremony, July 2 – Symbolical key handover to companies who already settled down in the SSZEIP attended by invited guests • Contract signing ceremony, July 2 – Opportunity for all companies to sign agreements witnessed by government representatives • Media conference, July 2 – Following the official opening ceremony, a media conference will be held for Chinese and Swiss media representatives • Sino-Swiss Cleantech & Innovation Summit, July 2 – All invited guests are welcome to attend the forum in the atrium featuring key note speeches and designed as a networking platform • Sino-Swiss Eco & Innovation Exhibition – Located on the ground floor of the circular buildings, a long-term exhibition will be built, accessible for all SSZEIP visitors. Key themes are the SSZEIP, Switzerland as a cleantech country and especially profiling Swiss institutions and innovative cleantech companies • SSZEIP Match Making Meetings, July 2 / 3 – Swiss cleantech companies will have the opportunity to meet potential Chinese business partners.
