AWL's Cooperation with Foreign Universities 09 czerwca 2021 AWL’s cooperation with foreign universities General Tadeusz Kościuszko Military University of Land Forces is vigorously developing international cooperation with mainly foreign military and civilian universities in various fields. International cooperation is one of the main bases for developing and strengthening the brand of the Military University of Land Forces among foreign military universities. Cooperation with leading American research centres such as The United States Military Academy at West Point, the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, and the University of Charleston forms an important part of this activity. Joint ventures with foreign partners are key elements in our international activities. We conduct our scientific activities by organising and participating in scientific conferences, seminars and symposia, as well as within innovative international projects of the Strategic Partnership, in military higher education, of which the University is a leader. It is implementing the International Military Leadership Academy project together with military universities from Greece and Portugal. The project’s objective is to devise joint education modules which would develop the leadership competences of future EU’s officers. The cadets successfully participate in specialist training and sports competitions for foreign cadets at AWL and at foreign universities. It is worth mentioning such initiatives as The International Military Leadership Course, specialist high-mountain training, the International Military University Championships for the cup of the AWLF Rector Commandant, the Military Ski Patrol, the Winter Survival, and the Italian Raid Commando-Lombardia. The Military University of Land Forces engages in multilateral cooperation as part of cyclical international endeavours, with the following being especially worth mentioning: The European Military Academies Commandants' Seminar (EMACS), the international Military Academic Forum (iMAF), the European initiative for the exchange of young officers (Emilyo) and the International Symposium on the Development of Military Academies (ISoDoMA). Within the Erasmus+ programme, we engage in cooperation with foreign military and civilian partner universities in the EU, based on bilateral agreements, including semester-long exchanges and internships for cadets and civilian students, as well as the short-term exchange of staff. Among other things, AWL organises an international semester in English in every academic year. This year subsequent agreements under the Erasmus+ programme will be drawn up, including with the Royal Military College Saint-Jean (Canada) and Stellenbosch University (RSA). The University has as its guests cadets from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), who are pursuing their first-cycle (Bachelor) programme in management, specialising in airmobile subunit command, in English. The systematically increasing number of KSA cadets studying at AWL, and the growing Strona 1 interest in the international semester organised by our University, clearly demonstrate that the Military University of Land Forces is a key partner for foreign universities. This explains why many countries in the world have created such institutions. The following article studies a potential negative externality stemming from military schools: increased coup risk. We argue that military academies may create, inculcate, and strengthen cohesive views that could conflict with incumbent policies, and that these schools establish networks among military officers that may facilitate coordination necessary for plotting a putsch. We also contend and empirically demonstrate that these negative side effects of military academies are in particular pronounced in non-democracies, i.e., military academies have diverse effects across regime types. In this regard, the EE­IO­LCA model can be combined with an intuitionistic fuzzy set theory for a multi­criteria decision making (MCDM) application with a set of environmental and socio­economic indicators. To achieve this goal, this study proposes the use of the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution method to select the best wind energy alternative for a double layer MCDM problem, which requires expert judgments to simultaneously apply appropriate weighting to each life cycle phase and sustainability indicator to be considered. The novelty of this research is to propose a generic 9­step fuzzy MCDM method to solve sustainable energy decision­making problems using a combination of three different techniques: (1) an intuitionistic fuzzy entropy method to identify the individual importance of phases and criteria; (2) an IFWGA operator to establish a sub­decision matrix with the weights applied to all relevant attributes; and (3) an IFWAA operator to build a super­decision matrix with the weights applied to all of the life­cycle phases considered.

Military schools have historically been the black boxes of the Turkish Armed Forces. The subjects who make up the military and their education in military schools have largely remained outside of academic inquiry. Since the establishment of the Republic, the military has been consolidating its power over political processes, the legal system and everyday life through various coups and interventions. Yet, we witness a historical shift in political, social and cultural positionality of the military since the Ergenekon and Balyoz [Sledgehammer] trials, beginning in 2007 and 2010 respectively. Based upon participant observation, modest historical research, and in-depth interviews with former cadets of Turkish Naval High School and Turkish Naval Academy who were students between the years 2003 and 2013, this study aims to trace the links between my research participants’ narratives and the military’s falling from grace. This thesis argues that this shift ranges from internal restructuring of power in professional military education to changes in ideological, ethnic, and class composition of the military.
