Ali Serhan Koyuncugil is Associate Professor of Statistics. He is working as a statistician for Capital Markets Board of . He had his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in statistics. His current research interests are design and development of fraud detection, risk management, early warning, sur- veillance, information, decision-support, and classification systems; design and development of data warehouses and statistical databases; development of indicators, models, and algorithms, conducting analysis on capital markets, finance, health, SMEs, large-scale statistical researches (e.g. census), population and development, socio-economic and demographic affairs based on data mining, statistics, quantitative decision making, operational research, optimization, mathematical programming, fuzzy set, technical demography theory, and applications. He is Elected Member (Fellow) of the International Statistical Institute (ISI); Establisher, Elected Member, Member of Executive Board and Scientific Secretary for ISI-IASC Committee on Computaional Statistics, Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, and member of the IASC and IASS sections of ISI, Turkish Statistical Association, Turkish Informatics Society, and was former vice head of Turkish Statisticians Association. In addition, he is Member of Advisors Board for Young Businessmen Association of Turkey. He has been taking part in many inter- national and national projects (UN, IBRD, EU, etc.). He has been taking part in a lot of international and national journals, conferences as an editorial board member, organizer, reviewer, and advisor. His latest researches are about early warning systems based on data mining.

Nermin Ozgulbas is Professor of finance and Vice Rector at Baskent University in Turkey. She taught financial management, financial analysis, and cost accounting in Baskent University, distance education program of , and Turkish Ministry of Health. Her research and publication activities include finance, cost accounting, risk management, early warning systems, and data mining in especially SMEs, capital markets, health care organizations, and social security. She is Member of Advisors Board for Young Businessmen Association of Turkey. She has been participating in a lot of international and national projects and conferences as an organizer, reviewer, and advisor. Her latest researches are about early warning systems based on data mining.

Ilkben Akansel has two B.A.s. The first one is in Economics, and the second is Business. She made her M.A. in Politics of Economics. Then, she graduated her Ph. D. in Public Relations. She is working as Assist. Prof. Dr. in Artvin Coruh University Hopa Economics and Administrative Faculty (Hopa/Artvin/ Turkey). M. Uğur Akdoğan, following his graduation from University Faculty of Political Sciences, Economics Department, and after obtaining the MBA degree in Accounting and Finance, he obtained PhD degree in Advanced Accounting and Finance (Eng.) from . He has been working in PwC since January 1996. He is a sworn-in financial advisor (YMM in Turkey) rendering tax consul- tancy, tax audit, and tax due-diligence services to multi-national and local investors. He is specialised in the taxation of the production, retail and mining sectors, IFRS and cost accounting principles, double taxation treaties and mergers and acquisitions. He also has independent auditor and master level CMB expert certificates.

Semra Gunay Aktaş successfully completed the Bachelor’s Degree at Faculty of Language, History and Geography, Geography Department and continued with Master’s Degree at Ankara University Physical Geography Department and Doctoral Degree at the same university in Re- gional Geography Department. During the Master’s and Doctoral studies, she worked as a geography teacher at the Ministry of Education and a researcher teacher at Research and Development Unit of the Ministry of Education. After completing the doctoral program, she worked as an Assistant Professor at Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Geography Department Human and Economic Geography Department. She is still working as an Associate Professor at Anadolu University Satellite and Space Science Research Institute in Eskisehir. She is instructing at Tourism Faculty of Anadolu University as well. Tourism geography, health geography and crime geography are the main fields for her studies.

Alev Dilek Aydin studied Business Administration at Dogus University (2002). She completed her Master of International Relations at in 2004. She worked as the Research Assistant of Prof. Stanford J. Shaw during her master at Bilkent University. She had her second master degree from the Department of International Economic Management at the University of Birmingham (2008) with the Jean Monnet Scholarship. She is currently having a PhD in the field of Accounting and Finance at Marmara University and working as a Finance and Accounting Analyst. She is the author of a published book named The Mosul Question (1918-1926): A Breaking Point in the History of Middle East.

Daniel Belingher was born in 1985 in Romania. After graduating the C.A. Rosetti high school in Bucharest, he decided to follow The Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies courses. He obtained a bachelor degree in Economics at the middle of 2008. In the same year, he enrolled in a Master program in European Economics at the same university. The master degree was obtained in 2010 and, currently, the author is a PhD. Candidate at the University mentioned above. His research theme consists in The Coherence of macro-economic policies during crisis conditions (from which the following study is an integrant part).

Cantemir Adrian Calin was born in 1986 in Romania. He followed the courses of the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and obtained bachelor degrees in International Business and Economics and Finance, Insurance, Banking, and Stock Exchange. He obtained a Master’s degree in 2010 in the Management of International Business. Currently the author is a PhD. Candidate at the The Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, his research theme being the Evolution of Credit Risk in Central and Eastern Europe.

Nazmi Çeşmeci graduated from the (1973), Naval Staff College (1987), Armed Forces College (1989), NATO Defense College (1990), and Ph.D. programme on Contemporary Man- agement Studies at Işık University (2010). He served as a naval officer up to destroyer captain and squadron commodore in the , in addition, staff duties, such as; coordination officer at WEU HQ and adviser to the ambassador of WEU in Brussels and Strategy Department in the TGS. He also served for educational institutions as academic instructor in Naval Academy, Naval Training Center, and Strategic Research Institute. He is currently teaching at , , and Strategic Researches Institute in , Turkey. His research interests are mainly “Safety and Security at Sea,” “Strategic Foresight,” “Management and Leadership,” and “International Security Strategies.”

Rituparna Das is Additional Director of Centre for Studies in Banking and Finance (CSBF), Ex- ecutive Director of Centre of Risk Management and Derivatives (CRMD) and Associate Professor at National Law University Jodhpur. He is an international author and referee on the areas like Financial Risk and Econometrics. He is life member of prestigious academic bodies like Indian Statistical Institute and the Indian Econometric Society. His prefers to work on Market Risk, Asset Liability Management, and Derivatives.

Oğuz Dilek is a member of the Department of International Relations at . He gained an undergraduate degree, in 2003, from the Faculty of Political Science at University of Ankara. He completed a Master of Research (M.Res.) program at the University of Keele, in 2004, which took place within the first year of his Ph.D. program. He was eventually qualified for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) by University of Keele, in England, in 2008, with his dissertation titled “The Political Economy of post-Cold War US Global Strategy in the ‘Greater’ Middle East.” He started to teach in the department of International Relations at University of Çağ following the end of his mili- tary service, in 2010. Among the courses he has thus far thought, Comparative Politics, Introduction to Political Science, International Security, Introduction to International Relations, Research Methods, and Political Leadership. His main areas of interest cover, International Political Economy, Energy Security, the Geopolitics of Eurasia, and the Foreign Policy of Turkey.

Emre Ergin graduated from Bosphorus University, İstanbul, Business Administration Department in 1992. He began his professional career in audit sector at Price Waterhouse (PW). He left PW as senior auditor to terminate his mandatory military service. Upon return, he entered Carrefour where he worked as an accounting manager for five years. His career includes positions such as finance manager, finance director, board and auditing committee member some of which were abroad. He completed his MBA at . Meanwhile, he obtained his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and began to give consulting services on strategic management, accounting, finance and audit. He started his Ph.D. and his dissertation thesis was “The Early Diagnosis of the Probability of Bankruptcy in Businesses: ISE Application.” He was awarded by the best paper at the National Finance Conference in 2008. He has articles published in national and international journals, and two chapters in international books. Among some of his interests are finance, accounting, management, and audit. He has been working as an assistant professor at , Izmit Vocational School, Head of both “Accounting and Tax Department,” and “Local Municipalities Department.” He has course on the Vocational school as well as in the graduate school program.

Deniz Umut Erhan, following her graduation from Faculty of Economic and Ad- ministrative Sciences, Management Department, and after obtaining the MBA degree in Accounting and Finance she obtained PhD degree again in Accounting and Finance from Anadolu University. She has been worked in Anadolu University between December 1996 - September 2001 and working in Baskent University since September 2001. She gave the courses of Accounting Principles, Bank Ac- counting, Management Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Financial Statement Analysis in Faculty of Commercial Sciences at Baskent University.

Emre İşeri is a faculty member in the Department of International Relations at Kadir Has Univer- sity. He received his undergraduate degree in 2002 from the Department of Political Science at Bilkent University. With his thesis entitled “The US Policy Towards European Integration: The Case of Tur- key’s Accession to the EU,” he was awarded a master’s degree from the Department of EU Politics and International Relations at the EU Institute at Marmara University. He wrote another thesis, “Turkey’s security relations with the US and the EU in the post-September 11 period” at the Department of Inter- national Conflict Analysis at the University of Kent in England, and he earned his Ph.D. in 2008 from Keele University in England with his dissertation entitled “The US grand strategy and the Eurasian heartland in the 21st Century: with special reference to the main Caspian oil export pipeline BTC.” He also conducted research at the Silk Road Studies Institute at Uppsala University. He began teaching in the Department of International Relations at upon his return to Turkey in 2009. He teaches Theories of International Relations, Globalization, Energy Security, Eurasian Geopolitics, and Middle East Policies.

Altan Kolbay, having a Bachelor’s degree from Ankara University Department of International Relations and a Master’s degree from Galatasaray University Department of Communication Strate- gies and Public Relations. He is now studying Executive MBA at the Middle East Technical University (METU). Worked as the Customer Relations Manager in a private company, following his position as the Communication Coordinator in an NGO, Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG), he has been the Secretary General of PETFORM since May 2007. He is the Vice Chairman of Turkish Natural Gas Assembly of TOBB (Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey) and columnist of the leading sectoral magazine Gas & Power. He is also a member of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), Association for Energy Economics (EED), and London-based Energy Institute, and periodically invited to Galatasaray University Faculty of Communication to attend to the graduate and undergraduate classes on ‘Lobbying’ as a ‘Guest Professional.’

Yusuf Mugaloglu has been working for the Istanbul Stock Exchange since 1999. His duties as a Chief Listing Specialist cover all aspects of listing, including initial listing, public disclosure, and follow-up of listed companies. He has also involved in several research and projects to increase the number of listed companies and diversify the securities traded on the Istanbul Stock Exchange. One of the recent projects was related to introduction of listing rules and procedure for warrants and structured products, which started trading on August 13th 2010. He did his MSc in Development Finance at University of Reading in 2005 and Ph.D. in economics in 2008. He also retained academic links as a visiting lecturer on banking at in 2009. He did a post-doctoral research on financial instability at City University-London in 2011. His main research interests include financial markets, volatility, and financial instability.

Süleyman Özkaynak was graduated from High School, Turkey in 1967 and from in 1969. He received his B.S, and M.Sc. degrees from Naval Post Graduate School (1979), USA. He got his Ph.D. degree from Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey (1991). He served as a lecturer (1980-1995) and as a faculty member (2001-2005) at the Turkish Naval Academy. He became associate professor in 1995 and full professor in 2003. He was the department head between 1992-1996 and academic dean in 1996-2001 and the director of the Naval Science and Engineering Institute in 2001-2005 at the Turkish Naval Academy. Currently, he is the Dean of Maritime Faculty at Piri Reis University, Istanbul, Turkey.

Yıldız Özkök is Research Assistant of Department of Economics at Hasan Kalyoncu University. She received a M.A. degree in Economics from The Bogazici University in 2002 and the M.A. degree in Economics from The in 2009. Her master thesis: “Analysis of the Incentives in Turkey in terms of Regional Development.” She has been studying Ph.D. in Economics from the Uludag University since 2009. She has three years experience of Financial Director at HAKSER and three years experience of Economist at Macroeconomic Research Department at Eczacibasi Securities Inc.. Her research areas are macroeconomics, growth and development, regional development, political economy, financialization of capitalism, financial crises.

Osman Sahin was born in 1967 in Konya, Turkey. He is married. He has a very good command of English as well as Russian. He graduated from Ankara University, Business Administration Department in 1991. He lived in Russia for 5 years, in Azerbaijan for 7 years and in Kazakhstan for 2 years. He studied in International Eastern University in Russia, in Qafqaz University in Azerbaijan, in Suleyman Demirel University in Kazakhstan. His career includes positions such as finance manager, finance advisor. He completed his MBA from International Turkmen-Turk University. His dissertation thesis was “Financial Markets and Derivatives Products: A Sample from Turkey.” He completed his Ph. D from Azerbaijan National Sciences Academy. His dissertation thesis was “The Formation of marketing management process in oil-chemistry companies.” He has articles published in national and international journals. Ali Sajid is a Mechanical Engineer from University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore. He has done his Masters and Ph.D. in Engineering Management from The George Washington University, Washington D.C, USA in 1995. Presently, he is working as the Director & Faculty of the Institute of Business and Management, UET Lahore. For last 20 years, he has been involved in various consultancies and has supervised more than 100 studies of Pakistani Industry. As founding faculty, he has held various academic and administrative assignments at NUST School of Business, Islamabad including Head of Dept & PhD Coordinator. He is also the founding Chairman of Dept of Engineering Management the Center for Advanced Studies in Engineering (CASE), Islamabad. He has worked at World Bank, vari- ous multinational organizations in Washington, DC, USA and has also been an Advisor to the Planning Commission, Govt of on Quality and Productivity. In view of his contribution, Govt of Pakistan has conferred him with the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz.

Halil Sariaslan was born in Konya, Turkey. He is presently a professor of financial and quantitative analysis in the Department of International Business at Baskent University, Ankara, Turkey. However, he originally was a full professor in the Department of Management, Faculty of Political Science at Ankara University, where he started his academic career as an assistant professor. In addition to his academic career at Ankara University, Faculty of Political Science, Professor Sariaslan had served the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), as an economic consultant to the Presidents of the Union, for almost ten years. He participated in and submitted papers and/or reports to many different meetings, panels, and conferences held by Euro-chambers, UN, and OECD, as the del- egate of TOBB. Moreover, he also conducted and authored several economic research reports on SMEs and privatization activities in Turkey that where published by TOBB. Later on, being nominated by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, Professor Sariaslan was appointed by the Government at that time to the Capital Markets Board of Turkey as a commissioner (a board member) and he served the Capital Markets Board between the years of 2000 – 2006. Professor Halil Sariaslan received his BA degree from Ankara University in 1972 and MS and Ph. D. degrees from the Florida State University in 1975 and 1978, respectively. He is presently the Chairman of the Department of International Business, College of Commercial Sciences, Baskent University, and the author of eight books, five research reports, and twenty articles published in refereed journals.

Mahmood Shadid graduated in Mining Engineering and Civil Engineering from UET Lahore in 1984 and 1986 respectively. He did his MBA from AIOU and Masters in Engineering Management from UET Texila/CASE Islamabad and is now a registered PhD student of U.E.T Texila, Pakistan. He has completed his course work and is now working on his research proposal and thesis. His area of research is Cost of Quality. He has number of conference publications and journal publications related to Qual- ity Management. He is also working in Capital Development Authority, Islamabad as Director Roads. Unsal Sigri has been working as a faculty member at the Turkish , Ankara, Turkey since 1998. He also worked as a visiting professor in the Azerbaijan Military Academy, Baku, Azerbaijan in 2001 and as a research scholar at St. John Fisher College, Rochester, NY, U.S. in 2010. Dr. Unsal Sigri is recipient of a research grant for post-docs from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) in 2010. Dr. Sigri teaches Management, Leadership, Group Dynamics, Cross Cultural Management, Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, and Mediation in . Besides, he gives courses, lectures and seminars in universities, military and civilian academic environments. Dr. Sigri has worked in some international project groups like NATO, United Nations, and European Union. He has authored books and articles nationally and internationally on management, conflict man- agement, negotiation, strategic management, organizational behavior, cross-cultural diversity, systems dynamics, and military sociology issues. He is currently a professor at the Department of Business in Turkish Military Academy, Ankara.

Hüseyin Tatlidil is Prof. of Statistics with more than 30 years of professional and academic experience. He has Ph.D. degree from , Ankara. His research interests include various topics such as manpower planning at tourism sector, employment and development statistics, socio-economic indicators, econometric analysis and modeling, statistical (especially multivariate) analysis, SWOT and Impact analysis applications. He has participated in numerous research projects of State Planning Organization, World Bank, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of State, and Ministry of Labour. He is one of the well known statistician in Ankara and much experienced in statistical evaluation and analysis by using statistical software packages such as SPSS, STATISTICA, STATGRAPH, SYSTAT, etc.

Ali Sabri Taylan is with the Dept. of Market Oversight at Turkish Derivatives Exchange (TURKDEX). He holds a MSc. from Hacettepe University and pursues a PhD in statistics at Dokuz Eylul University. He is specialized in probability theory, time series, financial risk modelling, multivariate statistics, and portfolio optimization. Previously, Mr. Taylan was a teaching assistant at Anadolu University and con- ducted research on financial econometrics, risk management, and derivatives pricing.

Deniz Ünsalan was born in İzmir, Turkey in 1953. He is a graduate of Turkish Naval Academy. He received his Master of Science and Mechanical Engineer degrees from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and Ph.D. degree from the İstanbul Technical University. He has served in the Turkish Navy as a seagoing officer, an engineer and a lecturer at the Turkish Naval Academy. After his naval service, he has taught at İstanbul Technical University, Near East University and Dokuz Eylül University. He is currently a Professor of Marine Engineering at Piri Reis University in İstanbul, Turkey. His research interests are mainly Ship and Offshore Hydrodynamics and Ship Propulsion.

Füsun Yenilmez was born in Afyon/Emirdağ in 1969. She graduated from Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Anadolu University in 1992. From this time to 1995, she attended Master’s program in Social Sciences Institute of Anadolu University and graduated from Ph.D. program of Social Sciences Institute of Anadolu University in 2004. To date from 1994, she is working as a faculty member of International Economics in Economics and Administrative Sciences Faculty of Eskisehir Osmangazi University. She is interested in studies on Theories of International Economics, Turkey-EU foreign trade, sectoral analysis, health economics, and Women’s Employment. She was appointed as Research Assistant Chairman of the Board Representation of Osmangazi University in 2003 and Research Assistant Vice President of the Board Representation of Osmangazi University in 2004. She worked as Deputy Head of the Department of Economics between 2007 and 2009, and as Board Member of Turkish Association of University Women between 2008 and 2010. She is a member of Economic Council of Turkey. She is married and has two boys.

Ali Yilmaz, after getting the Bachelor’s Degree in Istanbul University Faculty of Arts and Sci- ences Geography Department, he completed the Master’s and Doctoral Degrees at Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences in Human and Economical Geography Department. During the period of the Master’s and Doctoral studies, he worked as Geography Teacher for three years at the Ministry of Education. He started a career as a lecturer at Samsun on Dokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Education Geography Department during the Doctoral studies. After graduating from the Doctoral program, he worked as Assistant Professor at Human and Economical Geography Department. Then he continued his academic career as Associate Professor at Samsun on Dokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Arts and Sciences Human and Economical Geography Department. He is the Head of Human and Economical Geography Department now and still lecturing at this Department. The major fields on which he has studied are urban geography, rural geography, tourism geography, and crime geography.
