Visit the Arlaviškės botanical reserve of Kaunas Reservoir Regional Park; take in the majestic natural beauty. This oasis of untouched nature is rich in slopes and water-carved draws, small boggy dells and steep outcrops. “Hanging” slope swamps are a truly distinctive feature of this area. The main accent of Arlaviškės botanical reserve is a unique juniper valley, which is decorated with plants of different shapes, colours and smells. Most of this greenery is quite rare. Along a ridge overlooking the Nemunas valley, there is the 1.3-km-long Arlaviškės hiking trail (suitable for people with disabilities), the boardwalk part of which winds above a juniper grove. From an observa- tion deck, take in a spectacular view of the junipers hugging the slope, and, in the distance, the curved tip of the Kaunas Reservoir and its island.
