THE CAPSULE CLOSET PHENOMENON – A PHENOMENOLOGICAL STUDY OF LIVED EXPERIENCES WITH CAPSULE CLOSETS Thesis for Master, 30 ECTS Textile Management Giuliana Heger Thesis-id: 2016.15.05 Date: 3. June 2016 Title: The capsule closet phenomenon – A phenomenological study of lived experiences with capsule closets Publication year: 2016 Author: Giuliana Heger Supervisor: Jonas Larsson Abstract The idea for this paper resulted out of a curiosity for minimalist lifestyle concepts, namely capsule closets and the missing research about this topic as well as the importance of this concept for the society, the environment and the future of the fashion and textile industry. The study describes a phenomenological study in which the researcher explored participants’ lived experiences with capsule closets in order to provide a better understanding of the capsule closet experience. Fixed-interval diaries and semi-structured in-depth interviews with five women were conducted. Using descriptive phenomenological analysis, the researcher identified seven essential themes representing the lived experiences found in participants’ experience with capsule closets: 1) Feeling excited, enthusiastic and determined; 2) Feeling relived and satisfied; 3) Experiencing struggles and challenges; 4) Feelings of guilt and regret; 5) Feeling limited, bored and less creative; 6) Feelings of accomplishment and proudness; 7) Learning experience. These findings both support and contribute to existing literature related to this topic and provide new insights and add new aspects to the knowledge of the capsule closet experience. Keywords: capsule closets, minimalism, minimalist lifestyle concepts, mass consumption, phenomenology, lived experiences Acknowledgement This master thesis was written on behalf of the Master in Fashion Management at the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås, Sweden.

Thanks to the recent advances in multimedia techniques, many researches have promoted the automatic creation of capsule wardrobes by the garment modeling. Nevertheless, most capsule wardrobes generated by existing methods fail to consider the user profile, including the user preferences, body shapes and consumption habits, which indeed largely affects the wardrobe creation. To this end, we introduce a combinatorial optimization- Preference based personalized capsule wardrobe creation framework, named Body Shape PCW-DC, which jointly integrates both garment modeling (i.e., Compatibility wardrobe compatibility) and user modeling (i.e., preferences, body shapes). To justify our model, we construct a dataset, named Figure 1: Illustration of the personalized capsule wardrobe bodyFashion, which consists of 116, 532 user-item purchase records (PCW) creation. • Download the Winter 2020 Capsule Wardrobe
GLITTER & SPICE CAPSULE WINTER 20 20 WARDROBE GLITTER & SPICE WINTER 2020 CAPSULE WARDROBE Welcome to my winter capsule wardrobe! I’ve picked 26 items (many of which are in my own closet!) that you can mix and match to create well over 500 outfits, no matter the occasion! If that sounds insanely daunting, don’t fret: I’ll show you how! Since many of you messaged me to ask for workwear and weekend outfit ideas, I divvied up this capsule by outfit type (date night outfit, weekend outfit, and workwear outfit) instead of by weather. While I outline over 500 outfits in this guide, that’s by no means all of the possible combinations. Go ahead and mix and match the pieces to make them more *you*! Speaking of pieces, you’ll recognize a few of them from my last capsule wardrobe (like my favorite fleece turtleneck!). I’ve also thrown in a lot of basics like dark wash jeans, riding boots, and a white button-down blouse - if you have similar items in your closet already, use those! No need to reinvent the wheel (or your closet!) here. Also: I made this capsule with a mild Texas winter in mind, so you might need to bring in some heavier-weighted fabrics and/or tights if you live somewhere cooler (aka just about anywhere else). An important note: pages 4 and 5 of this guide are fully interactive: when you see something you want, just click the image on one of those pages. The link to that item will then open in a new tab.

  • Capsule Wardrobe - FALL CAPSULE WARDROBE
FALL 2019 capsule wardrobe - FALL CAPSULE WARDROBE Thank you so much for downloading my very first capsule wardrobe! Capsule wardrobes have been something my readers have requested and asked me about over the years, but it’s just not something I really had time to dedicate to… until now! This summer I added someone to my team who has helped free up time for me to step outside the box, work on new content and really get creative. As my longtime readers will know, I’m a big believer of investing in high quality basics. While I love to incorporate a trend or colorful piece here and there, having a solid selection of timeless neutrals is the key to a balanced wardrobe. It also happens to be the key to a well-curated capsule wardrobe! For my very first one, I chose 26 pieces that can be effortlessly dressed up or down for any occasion this fall - work, date night/nights out, long travel days, everyday errands and more. In this PDF, I’m sharing 100 different outfits you can create using only those 26 staples! The best part about this capsule? It’s full of pieces you likely already own. Aside from a couple of trendy items (leopard mules, for example), most of the 26 pieces are basics we probably all have in our closets: black skinny jeans, a grey sweater, black pumps... so no need to buy an entire new wardrobe to recreate these looks! In addition to picking up a couple of great new pieces, I’m hoping this fall capsule wardrobe will inspire you to shop your own closet and get more use out of pieces you’ve already invested in.
