The seven General Councils of the Christian Church are known as the Ecumenical Councils. They cover the period 15 July 2012 ‐ 15 Ιουλίου 2012 from 325 - 787 and their decisions are the foundation of Christian doctrine accepted by the Church. The decisions of these Ecumenical Councils were made under the guidance of the , as promised by Christ to His Apostles.

On the Sunday that falls between the days of July 13 to 19, we chant the Service to the Holy Fathers who came together in the Seven Ecumenical Councils, and we especially honor the Holy Fathers of the Fourth Ecumenical Council.

The Seven Ecumenical Councils
