State Theatre Braunschweig and International Film Festival Braunschweig Announce Film Music Programme State Theatre Braunschweig and International Film Festival Braunschweig announce film music programme German premiere “The Piano: Live-to-film” +++ “Weißer Löwe” (White Lion) for Helmut Zerlett +++ The Penelopes play “The Home Maker” +++ Videogame concert “Stories: The Path of Destinies” +++ WELLENVORM & Patrick Müller +++ German Film Orchestra Babelsberg plays to “Ausgerechnet Wolkenkratzer” The International Film Festival Braunschweig starts with the German premiere of the film concert “The Piano: Live in Concert” into its 33rd edition. The concert is part of the section “FxM Film meets Music”, in the course of which the Film Festival and State Orchestra Braunschweig present three film music concerts. Among these is the “Portrait Concert” for and with the film composer Helmut Zerlett, who receives the “Weißer Löwe” for his lifetime achievement and gets honoured with a retrospective. The portrait concert as well as the retrospective are sponsored by the Stiftung Braunschweigischer Kulturbesitz. Moreover the State Orchestra plays the interactive videogame concert “Stories: The Path of Destinies”. At this Live-to-game concert the orchestra reacts live to the players actions. The electro band “The Penelopes” adds sound to the silent film “The Home Maker” by King Baggot from 1925. The French DJ-team is known for their electro and disco remixes of Lana Del Rey, The Petshop Boys or The Cure. The concert is supportd by the Stiftung Braunschweiger Land. Electronic music is to the fore at three of the concerts, for example at the silent film concert “Silent Poe” by Jakob Gardemann and Christoph Seelinger from Braunschweig. They add sound to four films inspired by Edgar Allan Poe. Robin Alberding exhibits the installation “Fremd2k19”, a hybrid of scenic film and video. The pair of WELLENVORM & Patrick Müller presents eight short films, including two German premieres. Patrick Müller’s silent-visual reflexions about literature are accompanied live by WELLENVORM on his synthesisers. At the close of “FxM Film meets Music” the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg plays a Harold Lloyd classic “Ausgerechnet Wolkenkratzer! – Harold Lloyd” at the Wolfsburg Scharoun Theater on Sunday 24th of November. Martin Weller, director of the Braunschweig State Orchestra, gives an introduction to the film. Helmut Imig conducts the concert. Mais s’exposer au travers de cet artiste ce n’est pas invoquer Pierre Henry et son génie. Oui, osons ce terme puisque le prix l’indique déjà. Et Pierre Henry fait partie de ces rares personnes où les détours sont proscrits. Ainsi, n’en prenons pas pour « dire » et honorer son geste. Puisqu’avant même la musique, l’œuvre de Pierre Henry fut une nouvelle syntaxe, une grammaire peut-être, et toujours une absolue modernité. Pierre Henry arpente depuis des décennies un silence et on imagine qu’il lui rend ses bruits. Il est en quelque sorte son hors champs et sa quête. On suppose que sa musique procède d’une insuffisance plus que d’une insatisfaction. Il manque toujours quelque chose et à ce quelque chose. A ce manque Pierre Henry lui peint ses mots. N’est-ce pas le signe des créateurs de génie de nous emporter dans un autre langage, de nous détourner de notre imaginaire et ainsi de transformer notre vision du monde ? Et, de cette lumière aux allures de foudre, ce monde en a besoin.
