• NOTES • Bible Story • Genesis 1 v 27 - 28 God gave human beings the first instructions in the Garden of Eden, to be fruitful and increase in number as well as to rule over the creatures that God created. • Exodus 20 v 3 In the ten commandments God tells us to have no other gods before Him. • Mathew 22 v 36 - 40 Jesus sums up the two greatest commandments of all - Love God and love your neighbour as you love yourself.

We learnt that God made human beings in the image of God. Our primary identity is that we are God’s children. Jesus died for us so that we can be forgiven of our sins and get the identity of holiness in Jesus Christ. God created us so that we can love Him, love people, and take care of the earth.

Discussion points for older children:

1. What does to love God mean to you?

2. What are some of the things you do to show that you love the people around you?

3. What do you think we must do to care for the earth that God has put us in charge of?

• MINISTRY TIME | APPLICATION • (all ages)

You might have lived a life where you loved and worshiped other things more than you loved and worshiped God You might have lived a life where you did not show love and kindness to people around you, or you might have been mean and unkind to the people around you. Pray a prayer of repentance for the two items above. Let’s pray that God helps us love God, love people and love our City. (the narrator to use their own words for the prayer)

• ACTIVITIES• (You can pick and choose depending on availability of resources and the ages of your kids.)

1. Do something with your family to help a person or people in need that is in need. Choose from the following: Give food or clothes, pick up litter to clean up the area around you (observe social distance while you are doing this)

2. Write a praise or worship song or poem. Sing it or read it to your family. Then sing it and read it to God by yourself

3. Write a letter or card to two people in your family to show that you love them.

4. Stand in an open place and pray for Johannesburg. Point to the different areas of the city each and pray for each of those areas. After that pray for your area.
