TARIF Des Courses 2009 Pour
Tarif des courses 2009 en engagement privé de la Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix. Traditionnelle par excellence, cette formule est la plus souple pour parcourir la haute montagne. En rapport avec votre niveau et les conditions du moment, votre guide vous proposera un programme de courses adapté. Le tarif d’une course est établi, en fonction de la longueur, la difficulté et surtout l’engagement de la course, pour 1 personne ou 2 personnes suivant l’itinéraire. Le tarif est l’honoraire du guide il ne comprend pas les frais de refuges ou de remontées mécaniques. Difficulté : En face de chaque course un nombre d’étoiles allant de 0 à 5 étoiles est mis pour «coter» la course par rapport à sa difficulté pure (technique, longueur et engagement).Cette difficulté peut bien-sur variée suivant les conditions. Le nombre d’étoiles n’a en aucun cas un rapport avec l’intérêt et la beauté de la course. LES GRANDES COURSES Les grandes courses sont un rêve pour tous et sont différentes pour chacun ! Tout est fonction de son niveau, ses goûts, ses aspirations… Le tarif d’une course est fonction de sa longueur, sa difficulté technique et de son engagement. Plus la course est «importante», plus ces paramètres varient donc passé un certain niveau de course, une fourchette est donnée pour avoir un ordre de grandeur. Zeitschrift für Gletscherkunde und Glazialgeologie Herausgegeben von MICHAEL KUHN BAND 40 (2005/2006) ISSN 0044-2836 UNIVERSITÄTSVERLAG WAGNER · INNSBRUCK 1907 wurde von Eduard Brückner in Wien der erste Band der Zeitschrift für Gletscherkunde, für Eiszeitforschung und Geschichte des Klimas fertig gestellt. Mit dem 16. Band über- nahm 1928 Raimund von Klebelsberg in Innsbruck die Herausgabe der Zeitschrift, deren 28. Band 1942 erschien. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg gab Klebelsberg die neue Zeitschrift für Gletscherkunde und Glazialgeologie im Universitätsverlag Wagner in Innsbruck heraus. Der erste Band erschien 1950. 1970 übernahmen Herfried Hoinkes und Hans Kinzl die Herausgeberschaft, von 1979 bis 2001 Gernot Patzelt und Michael Kuhn. THE CLIMB INTERVIEW Lucia Prosino talks to CHRISTOPHE DUMAREST France is renowned as a country of exceptional climbers and outstanding mountaineers. Christophe Dumarest is no exception. Behind this highly skilled athlete, however, lies an inventive and attentive person, always ready to crack a joke and eager to share his experiences with others. He’s climbed extensively in the Greater Ranges and opened many new routes in the Alps, such as Tifenn (V6 A1 M8+, 1100 m) on the Aiguille Sans Nom, Destruction Massive (M7/IV, 400m) on the north face of the Tournier Spur on the Droites, and Jean-Chri (7a+, A1, 800 m) on the, Hidden Pillar of Freney. He’s also repeated some of the famous hard modern classics in the range, such as the Lesueur Route (ED3, M8+, 900 m) on the north face of the Dru, and the Gousseault/Desmaison (M7+, 1100m) route with a direct variation. But he prefers to spend his time devising his next enchainments, with a keen eye on the aesthetics of the mountain range in question, and the historical aspects of the routes he chooses to link up. Lucia Prosino recently spoke to Christophe about his life and climbs, the role of ethics in the sport, and the enduring respect he has for British climbers and mountaineers. • The Traverse of the G1·andes J or asses. 63 (snow-covered in the photograph, but found dry by us), to get into which one has to climb over an exposed needle with a few and not very useful handholds, but not necessarily extremely difficult. It was here that the first piton became necessary. Nothing out of the way as far as the face of the couloir where we began our return to the ridge by a sharply curving line. Then follows a little couloir, broken in half at ' B,' and immediately above ' 0 ' a second needle, with large masses of · rock in unstable equilibrium, which demand continued and vigilant care while climbing them, and careful tests before trusting oneself to them. On this part, only a couple of metres long, we fixed three pitons at very short distances from each other. Then again broken and unstable rock, as far as the slabs, convenient even though covered with debris, which lead to below the ' nose.' At intervals the rock shows yellowish streaks which make one imagine one is in the presence of layers of sulphur, an impression strengthened by the odour they exhale. From below the ' nose,' a slight deviation towards the face is necessary, in order to enter the little chimney, clearly seen in the photo graph, and which offers firm rock and good handholds. This enables one to regain the ridge, which leads easily to the summit. Very fatiguing is this last chimney, especially on account of its length. As regards personal considerations, there is freedom from objective dangers and no falling stones,4 but in this matter we were perhaps favoured also by the weather. -

EXPEDITIONS IIS EXPEDITIONS HuASCARAN, I958. Our problem was which peak to climb during the last ten days in the Cordillera Blanca. By August 22, if everything went according to plan, we should have climbed our seventh peak and re turned to Huaras. The party, consisting of Miss Myrtle Emslie, Dr. Hugh Simpson and Mr. William Wallace, was divided on the proposal to climb Huascaran. Until this year the only route of ascent had been from the north side via the Garganta. This route did not attract us. In Huaras we learned of a new route climbed by an Ameri can party one month previously on the South face and ridge. This news of a new route decided us; we would attempt Huascaran. Monday, August 25, saw _us making our way up the Quebrada Ulta. Two donkeys were quite adequate to carry all our food and equipment as we did not require porters and were travelling as light as possible. In the afternoon we established Base Camp at I I,700 ft. under the southern flank of the mountain. The next morning we slowly toiled up the precipitous sides of the Quebrada and at last reached the top where we were confronted by the great glaciers and ice-falls of the South face. As the sun climbed higher in the sky our packs seemed to grow heavier and heavier. By early afternoon we had reached the lowest point of the glaciers, about I,ooo ft. below a prominent rock ridge on which we hoped to camp. At last, at I6,ooo ft., we reached the crest of the ridge where we found an ideal camp site which, we later learned, had taken four of the American party half a day to level. -
