Our Association aims at making these buildings relevant destinations of a cultural tourism capable of combining the beauty of the land- scape with the architectural value, with histories and legends, with the tastes and flavours of the wines and foods that the Piedmont’s territory can offer. The historical residences and the castles are examples of excellence of a journey of discovery of Piedmont’s lesser known spots, while at the same time they offer cultural events animating the buildings and offering the chance of living them through a steadily growing network of hospitality.

Endroits riches en histoire et en art, les châteaux apparaissent au visiteur comme des écrins magiques hors du temps. Notre Association souhaite que les châteaux du Piémont deviennent des destinations idéales pour les touristes voulant découvrir les beautés du paysage et de l’architecture, les récits et légendes de la région, les goûts et saveurs du vin et de la gastronomie du Piémont. Les demeures historiques et les châteaux sont des étapes magnifiques pour un voyage à la découverte des lieux les moins connus du Piémont. En les visitant, ou en y séjournant grâce aux offres d’hébergement de plus en plus nombreuses, on peut aussi assister aux spectacles et événements culturels qui les animent.

La Regione Piemonte ha stabilito di dedicare l’anno 2019 alla valorizzazione del “Dolcetto”, celebre prodotto dei vigneti locali, invitando tutte le “eccellenze” del territorio a collaborare. A tal fine il “Consorzio Ovada DOCG” e le Associazioni che promuovono i Castelli e le dimore storiche hanno sottoscritto un Protocollo di “gemellaggio”: chi visiterà un castello e una cantina, tra quelle elencate sul “Passaporto” scaricabile on line, otterrà lo sconto dl 10% sul secondo timbro impresso su passaporto stesso: sconto sulla visita, nel caso di un castello (o dimora stori- ca) oppure su una bottiglia di vino, nel caso di acquisto in una cantina. Dolcetto e castelli, simbolo della storia, del paesaggio e della enogastronomia dell’Alto Mon- ferrato, saranno ancora una volta insieme per promuovere le peculiarità del loro territorio e aumentarne la visibilità.

I vigneti si trovano tutti nel comune di Tagliolo Monferrato, ad un’altitudine di 320 m s.l.m., e sono coltivati nel rispetto e tutela dell’ambiente. Il Dolcetto è il vitigno più importante, e il terroir di Tagliolo è particolarmente vocato, soprattutto per il cru La Castagnola, prodotto nelle migliori annate da un vigneto unico. Il Castello di Tagliolo produce anche un Dolcetto vinificato dolce denominato Gentile e un Dolcetto chinato, aromatizzato con varie erbe. Altri vitigni a bacca rossa sono il Barbera, il Cabernet Sauvignon e il Pinot Nero, mentre a bacca bianca l’autoctono Cortese, lo Chardonnay e il Sauvignon dai quali si ottengono un bianco fermentato in rovere e uno spumante extra dry. 51 I vini del Castello di Montecavallo

L’azienda agricola legata a Montecavallo produce annualmente circa 10 mila botti- glie di vino con i frutti provenienti dai quasi tre ettari di vigna di proprietà. Si tratta di una produ- zione limitata, se confrontata con i grandi marchi di settore, ma l’intenzione è quella di puntare a un mercato di nicchia, costituito da veri intenditori e da coloro che sanno apprezzare i prodotti del Nebbiolo in tutte le sue sfumature. La cantina storica, tutt’ora esistente, fu costruita contem- poraneamente al castello. Contiene i vecchi tini in castagno, le vecchie botti e le pesantissime bigonce, testimoni di una tradizione e di una tenacia che ci ha contagiati e spinti a continuare a tenere viva la memoria proseguendo il cammino iniziato qualche secolo fa. La cantina nuova è stata ricavata dai locali dove erano le scuderie. Non è stato modificato nulla della struttura archi- tettonica, ma i lavori di adeguamento hanno reso questa nuova cantina moderna e funzionale senza togliere nulla al fascino dell’antica costruzione.
