2016-2017 SCHOOL PROFILE MISSION To inspire students to become innovative thinkers who communicate with intelligence and clarity, create with vision and purpose, and act with courage and compassion to confidently make a meaningful difference in the world. THE SCHOOL Carolina Day School is an independent, coeducational, non-sectarian, college preparatory day school serving grades PK through 12. We are dually accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools. The School’s total enrollment, PK-12, for 2016-2017 is 645. Carolina Day School complies with the NACAC Statement of Principles of Good Practice. THE UPPER SCHOOL BY THE NUMBERS School Code: 340119 Enrollment grades 9-12: 208, Enrollment Class of 2017: 44, Average class size: 11, Student/Faculty ratio: 7/1, Number of teaching faculty: 34, Faculty/Staff holding advanced degrees: 69% HONOR CODE A hallmark of Carolina Day School is the atmosphere of trust and respect that exists among students, teachers, and administrators. Maintenance of this environment requires that each community member understands and practices values such as honesty, self-discipline, self-respect, and respect for others. The Honor Code has been developed by students, teachers, and administrators to guide the community in achieving these goals. The student-led Honor Council is responsible for ensuring that the principles of the Honor Code are understood and upheld by the student body. ACADEMIC PROGRAM A minimum of 22 credits are required for graduation. Required credits include English (4), Science (3) Biology and Chemistry required, Social Studies (3) American History required, Mathematics (3), World Language (3), Arts (1), Speech or Debate (.5). Beginning in academic year 2015-2016 students are restricted to 3 AP credits per year. TESTING PROFILE Scores for the Classes of 2013-2016 include our GRADING The average unweighted GPA of the Class of 2017 is international students and are calculated using each student’s highest score 3.47, average weighted GPA is 3.84. Students are graded out of in each section.
