PHILANTHROPIST DAVID RUBENSTEIN DISCUSSES THE THREE PILLARS OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE— THE DECLARATION, CONSTITUTION, AND BILL OF RIGHTS— AT THE NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER

Philadelphia, PA (October 14, 2013) – David M. Rubenstein, a noted philanthropist dedicated to celebrating and preserving American history, joins National Constitution Center President and CEO Jeffrey Rosen for an intimate conversation about America’s founding documents—the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. The program will take place Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. Admission is FREE, but reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 215-409-6700 or visiting constitutioncenter.org.

Described by The Washington Post as a “patriotic philanthropist,” Rubenstein recently loaned the National Constitution Center one of the 50 known surviving copies of an 1823 printing of the Declaration of Independence, engraved and printed by William J. Stone to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

In the fall of 2014, the Constitution Center will be the first institution in Pennsylvania to exhibit one of the 12 surviving copies of the Bill of Rights, part of a landmark agreement between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and The New York Public Library. The display of the document at the Constitution Center coincides with the 225th anniversaries of its proposal and ratification. The museum also currently possesses a rare first public printing of the U.S. Constitution.
