Hospital charges include admission service, accommodation, operation theatre room charges, use of equipment and associated materials, nursing procedures, investigation and examination fees, medication and injection fees, treatment and associated materials, meals and beverage, sundries, etc. 4.) All information should be used for reference only. The actual Hospital bill charges may be higher or lower than the reference figures. 5.) The figure in the 50th percentile means half of the patients paid a bill size less than or equivalent to this amount. This figure provides a reference to an estimate of the median bill size for patients. 6.) The figure in the 90th percentile of charges means 90% of the patients paid a bill size less than or equivalent to this amount, and the remaining 10% of the patients paid more than this amount. With over 7.4 million people of various nationalities in a 1,104 km2 territory, Hong Kong is the world's fourth-most-densely-populated region. Hong Kong became a colony of the British Empire after Qing China ceded Hong Kong Island at the end of the First Opium War in 1842. The colony expanded to the Kowloon Peninsula in 1860 after the Second Opium War and was further extended when Britain obtained a 99-year lease of the New Territories in 1898. The territory was returned to China when the lease expired in 1997. As a special administrative region, Hong Kong's system of government is separated from that of mainland China. Formerly a sparsely populated area of farming and fishing villages, Hong Kong has become one of the world's most significant financial centers and commercial ports. It is the world's seventh-largest trading entity, and its legal tender (the Hong Kong dollar) is the world's 13th-most-traded currency. Although the city has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world, it has severe income inequality. The territory has the largest number of skyscrapers in the world, most surrounding Victo- ria Harbour. Hong Kong ranks seventh on the UN Human Development Index and has the seventh-longest life expectancy in the world.

    Application for Clinical Privileges • Basic pre-requisite for credentialing of all specialties requires the applicant being holder of a current valid Annual Practicising Certificate, in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of section 20A of the Medical Registration Ordinance; and, listing in the General Register of the Medical Council of Hong Kong under the Medical Registration Ordinance (Cap.161). • Both the Initial Criteria and Renewal Criteria for clinical privileging are undergoing continuous development.
