This graduation will be my last as your Chancellor and I say honestly that it has been a true pleasure celebrating your fantastic achievements with you. I have been inspired by your passion, commitment and vitality since joining this diverse and global Essex community in 2014. Today, I take a step towards a new future just as you do but I will remain a member of the Essex family, and just like you, my Essex experience will stay with me. My advice to those graduating today is to aspire to be anyone’s equal, but nobody’s superior. Be confident without being arrogant. Be brilliant but also a little bit humble.
