Official Ginetta Cars Bulletin Ginetta G40 Cup Championship Winter Bulletin 02 Issued – November 2018 Ginetta Drivers/Teams, Regulation Changes for 2019: The Ginetta G40 Cup will move to a new wheel and tyre format for 2019 in line with customer requests and to improve the racing experience for the grid. Overview The cars will move to a 15” wheel and Michelin racing tyres, both slicks and wets to suit our beautifully unpredictable British weather! The race tyres will give more grip, improved balance and increased performance, the cars will lap 2-3 seconds faster everywhere! In the inclement rain and wet conditions, the tyres will be safer, stable and more predictable even on the wettest of days. Whilst keeping the racing close the whole driving experience will be progressive and the logical next step up from GRDC and the previous G40 Cup specification, more than that, the racing will be so much more fun! Ginetta Factory driver and 2018 Le Mans driver Mike Simpson commented “The grip level was quite remarkable. Braking was significantly later and you could bleed off the brake pedal much earlier increasing the corner speed. The balance of power with the additional grip meant the traction was never troubled” The maximum number of dry tyres available to each car/driver over the full championship season (i.e. 6 meetings, excluding Friday practice days) will be 14 new tyres. This will help contain costs by limiting the number of tyres which can be purchased on behalf of any one competitor during the series and limit the number of tyres used per competitor per complete event. This will be policed using the same tyre form system that is currently successfully used in the GT5 Challenge. The revised tyre allocation will also see a decrease in race tyre budgets from the 2018 season. How to make the change Understanding the situation and that the change is quite a step, Ginetta are subsidising the changeover costs.
