Samenvatting In het album Cokes in Voorraad ontdekt de lezer dat de slavenhandel nog altijd bestaat. Tijdens een tocht in de Arabische Golf zal Kuifje er, na een indrukwekkend zeegevecht, in slagen deze schaamteloze en clandestiene mensenhandel, opgezet door de sinistere Rastapopoulos, te verijdelen. Hierdoor komt emir Mohammed Ben Kalisj Ezab terug aan de macht, waarna zijn zoontje Abdallah huiswaarts kan keren en ook de rust op Molensloot weerkeert. Ook komt er, zoals uit een krantenbericht blijkt, internationale controle op de maatschappijen, om de veiligheid van de Mekka-reizigers te waarborgen. Cokes in voorraad vormt inhoudelijk een min of meer rechtstreeks vervolg op Kuifje en het Zwarte Goud. Hergé werkte zich in door met zijn assistent Bob De Moor een meerdaagse tocht met een vrachtschip te maken om zo de sfeer op zee te proeven en details voor de tekeningen vast te leggen. Hij las zich in door het bestuderen van het boek Un sous-marinier de la Royal Navy , een aantal edities van het tijdschrift La Revue Maritieme en het lezen van Henry de Monfreids geïllustreerde uitgave van Trafic d'armes en mer rouge. Hij komt slechts voor in een paar scènes aan het begin en einde op het kasteel van Molensloot. In het album komt de naam Mull Pasha voor, alias dokter Müller , die dan het commando voert over een aantal gevechtsvliegtuigen. De naam is afgeleid van John Bagot Glubb , die lange tijd als militair commandant in Jordanië werkzaam was en daar ook Glubb Pacha werd genoemd. De ballonstrip verscheen voor het eerst in de weekbladen Kuifje en zijn Franstalige evenknie Tintin. Wekelijks werd van week 44 in tot en met week 1 in één pagina met vier stroken afgedrukt. Het woord ' cokes ', dat in dit verhaal wordt gebruikt als codewoord om de zwarte slaven mee aan te duiden, verwijst in het algemeen naar bewerkte steenkool die als brandstof wordt gebruikt.     INTERVIEW INÉDITE DE JACQUES MARTIN Tintin et le Thermozéro ou les (més)aventures du 25ème album de Tintin En 2007, pour célébrer le centenaire de la naissance de Hergé, le magazine Lire, avait édité un numéro spécial Tintin, en parallèle de la remarquable exposition sur Hergé présentée à Beaubourg. Il révélait au grand public une histoire de Tintin qui a failli voir le jour à la fin des années 50 et qui dépassait largement le stade du projet embryonnaire, puisque près d’une cinquantaine de pages existe sous forme de crayonnés très finalisés. Si on devait faire une comparaison avec l’Alph’art, on peut dire que Tintin et le Thermozéro, puisque c’est le nom de ce projet, était largement plus abouti… Par contre ce que peu de Tintinophiles et de Martinophiles connaissent et que Jérôme Dupuis nous apprend dans le détail (ainsi que Wikipedia), c’est que Jacques Martin, Bob de Moor et Roger Leloup ont travaillé de nombreuses semaines dessus. Monsieur Martin, pouvez-vous nous apporter quelques précisions sur cette révélation et pourquoi ne jamais nous en avoir parlé avant ? Parce que vous ne me l’avez jamais demandé ! (rires). J’ai déjà du mal à me faire entendre lorsque j’explique à mes interlocuteurs, que les collaborateurs de Hergé ont été très importants dans le processus de création des albums de Tintin… Vous imaginez la difficulté que j’aurai eu à parler d’un album que personne ne connaissait (rires) ! A l’origine, Greg avait proposé à Hergé un scénario, appelé plus tard le Thermozéro, et sur lequel, j’avais travaillé pendant quelques semaines.

This sale, once again carried out in partnership with the Daniel Maghen Gallery, will represent a wide selection of comic artists and heroes, of which the highlights will be exhibited during a preview held at Christie’s New York from February 27th until March 4th 2015. Daniel Maghen, auction expert: «The greatest names in comic history will be celebrated, such as the legendary characters of Hergé, Tintin and Captain Haddock, in an exceptional original cover of the Journal de Tintin, estimated between €350,000 and €400,000, as well as Edgar P. Jacobs’ Blake and Mortimer, and Albert Uderzo’s Astérix and Obélix. The «new classics» will also be represented along with Moebius, whose colour cover of the Incal and a page of Arzach will be offered.

Personnage emblématique de la bande dessinée franco-belge depuis sa première apparition dans le journal Tintin en 1948, Alix est ici à l’honneur, aux côtés des héros des quelques œuvres qui l’ont précédé dans l’imaginaire de son créateur, ainsi que de son « cousin » contemporain, le journaliste Guy Lefranc. Il ne s’agit pas de revenir ici sur l’ensemble de l’œuvre monumentale de Jacques Martin, mais de faire honneur au talent de ce dessinateur-scénariste authentiquement franco- belge. Alix – L’Art de Jacques Martin vient rappeler l’importance d’un auteur qui sut s’émanciper des ombres tutélaires d’Hergé et d’Edgar P. Jacobs pour faire école à sa façon, traçant une voie qui sera suivie par de nombreux auteurs, contemporains ou non, dans le champ de la bande dessinée historique et au-delà.
