The compositions range from low beat-oriented bass music and progressive house to extracted, floating trebles, but above all, their underlying sense of respect towards their hip-hop roots ties together the uncategorizable, genre-less variety of sounds. With this concept constructed over an underlying base of a fearless, rebellious stance against capitalistic music, the album captures both the strong core as well as the soft, pleasant side which define femininity. “SCENTED” in the opening of their special feature documentary movie “INS AND OUTS.” This must-see short film focuses on the duo’ s “unknown face,” from a behind-the-scenes look at their music creation process and footage of production collaborations with overseas rappers and producers, to candid interviews and a closer look at their active role in shaping modern culture. On the day of its release, a listening party for “PORNO SHOP” was held in Harajuku, Tokyo. With the venue bathed in pink lighting and sexy bunny girls greeting the customers, the party’ s ambience felt like stepping into an actual porno shop. The packed-out party also showcased an original motion art movie, linking the sounds of DFT TOKYO with graphic visuals for a full sensory experience. The party continued with MIMI DFT debuting the album tracks in her DJ set as MC YoungLyxx took the mic, creating a vibe that felt like an overseas nightclub unimaginable in Tokyo. When it was time to drop the album’ s highlight song “SCENTED,” guest burlesque dancer Mosh took the stage, mesmerizing the entire venue with her straight-from-L.A. performance.
