  • [Data] JOHN HENRY RYAN
JOHN HENRY RYAN III Freelance Sound Engineer Curriculum Vitae A dual citizen of Italy and the United States Of America, dual passport holder, fluent in English and Italian. Presently residing in Italy, but available to relocate temporarily or permanently if required. John’s interest in music started during his early childhood, listening and learning to appreciate music in every form and style. A self-taught guitar and electric bass player with an extraordinary musical ear, he soon found that the technical aspect of music reproduction was what would have led him to the present successful career, first by mixing for local bands in clubs, followed by 9 years in one of Southern Italy's busiest recording studios. After a long time sitting behind the studio mixer, John was missing some excitement, so he naturally went back to his initial interest; live sound mixing. After graduating at Forrest Sherman High School in Naples Italy in 1975, he worked in father's editorial distribution company, mainly involved with the US Military bases in Italy and part of the Mediterranean. In 1977, John happened to jump into the consumer audio world, hired by Germany based H.E.A.T. (Harman Europe Audio Team), as sales representative for 5 leading Hi-Fi brands, at the NATO audio retail store in Naples Italy, where he operated until 1979. In 1979, John was offered to go on tour with two of Italy's leading and top selling artists to this day; as FOH engineer for Italian pop star Pino Daniele (R.I.P.), followed by a tour in 1980 with Edoardo Bennato as monitor engineer.

Design and Production of a UM Photo Album by Daniel Kennedy David Johnson A thesis submitted to the faculty of The University of Mississippi in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College. Oxford May 2018 Approved by ___________________________________ Advisor: Dr. Jack McClurg ___________________________________ Reader: Dr. Matt O’Keefe ___________________________________ Reader: Dr. Jeremy Griffin Acknowledgements The authors would like to thank all the CME faculty and staff that made this project possible. Without their commitment to the students and the program, projects like this one would never make if off the ground. The authors would like to extend special thanks to Richard Hairston who served as a technical advisor for the project. Special thanks also the CME professors Dr. Vaughn, Dr. McClurg, and Ms. Watanabe. Their guidance was invaluable when the team found itself deep in the weeds. Lastly the authors would like to thank their amazing team that made this idea come to life. Their hard work made this endeavor successful. ii Abstract The following project attempted to design and manufacture a wooden photo album. The final product needed to fully satisfy customer demands as well as turn a profit. The development proceeded in two phases. The design phase sought to take the product from ideation to a fully viable final design for manufacturing. The manufacturing phase sought to create a production process that would both meet customer demands in an efficient and waste-free way. This would be accomplished by implementing principles of Project Management, Toyota Production System, and LEAN. The final product was successfully designed and produced to be a high-end oak photo album with leather and brass accenting.

  • Bettie Serveert Bio 2016
BETTIE SERVEERT BIO 2016 The story begins when Canadian-born (Vancouver), Netherlands-reared Carol van Dyk was hired as the live-sound mixer for the celebrated underground band ‘de Artsen’ (the Doctors). Herman Bunskoeke and Peter Visser were band members, Berend Dubbe was their roadie and the musical side project in which all four friends participated became Bettie Serveert. (Since you ask, the name means "Bettie to serve" after Dutch tennis player Bettie Stöve, who lost the Wimbledon Ladies Final in 1977). After a false start in 1986, when the band called itself ‘Betty Serveert’ with a ‘y’, they dissolved after only one gig. The band reformed in 1991 in Amsterdam as Bettie Serveert and quickly caught the ear of Matador Records, Brinkman Records and 4AD's Guernica label for whom they kindly agreed to record their first album 'Palomine', which was released late 1992/early 1993. Two years later, in January 1995, the band recorded their second album 'Lamprey', which was hailed by Melody Maker as the most tangled, desolate, real life guitar sound of the year. They toured extensively with the likes of Belly, Dinosaur Jr, Buffalo Tom, Superchunk, Come and Jeff Buckley. 1997 saw the return of Bettie Serveert in fine form with the release of the long awaited third album 'Dust Bunnies'. It was the first time the Betties benefited from the studio guidance of producer Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Lemonheads). It was the first Bettie Serveert disc that was recorded entirely within the United States, at Bearsville studio in scenic Woodstock, New York. In 1998 the group released a live album of Velvet Underground cover songs 'Bettie Serveert plays Venus In Furs and other Velvet Underground songs'.
