It improves fine motor skills, provides opportunities for exploration and experimentation and can be an outlet for creativity and imaginative play. It is also a lot of fun – so this week, let’s make a splash! Washing station Set up a washing station in the garden and ask the children to clean some toys. You’ll need a few bowls of warm water – some with soap in for washing and some without for rinsing – along with sponges and brushes for scrubbing, and towels for drying. You could make this activity more specific, for example, it could be a car wash (for cleaning all the toy vehicles) or a laundry (for washing and pegging out toy clothes). This ‘Muddy Trucks & Car-Wash’ activity from http://busytoddler.com has 2 stages – first enjoy playing in the mud and then move on to playing in the water. This could be even more fun with Bubble Foam. To make this you need bubble bath or body wash and food colouring. The magic of bubble foam is a 2:1 ratio – 2 parts bubblebath to 1 part water. For the activity in the picture, use 1/2 cup bubblebath with 1/4 cupBubb of water for each colour. Add in a few drops of food colouring to make it just a little more special. Its core public service channel, Channel 4, is a free-to-air service funded predominantly by advertising. Unlike the other commercially-funded public service broadcasters, Channel 4 is not shareholder owned: commercial revenue is only a means to delivering Channel 4’s public purpose end and any surplus revenues are reinvested in the delivery of its public service remit. 2. In recent years, Channel 4 has broadened its portfolio to offer a range of digital services, including the free-to-air, commercially-funded digital television channels Channel 4+1, E4, E4+1, Film4, More4 and 4Music. And is also a lot to do with representing the place you live or have grown up in.” - Olly Thakes, Urban ​ Dictionary Or at least that’s what Urban Dictionary user Olly Thake had to say on the matter back in 2006, and honestly, I couldn’t have put it better myself. Although I personally trust a geezer off of Urban Dictionary more than an out of touch journalist or Good Morning Britain to define what grime is, I understand that Urban Dictionary may not be the most reliable source due to its liberal attitude to users uploading their own definitions with very little screening and that Mr Thake’s definition may also leave you with more questions than answers about what grime actually is and how it came to be.
