Zico Album Download the Bias List // K-Pop Reviews & Discussion zico album download The Bias List // K-Pop Reviews & Discussion. K-Pop reviews and discussion with just a hint of bias… The Top Ten Best Songs by ZICO. Since his solo debut in late 2014, Block B‘s Zico has enjoyed massive success. Every single he releases — whether promoted or not — seems to jump to the top of the charts. And in the space of just over two years, he’s compiled enough material for a proper countdown. Though his style isn’t always to my taste, I appreciate the versatility of his sound and his willingness to play with his image. Here are his ten singles, ranked up to the very best. 10. Tough Cookie (ft. Don Mills) (2014) While it’s hard to ignore the appropriation and troublesome lyrical content, Tough Cookie marked a memorable solo debut. 9. Pride & Prejudice (ft. Suran) (2015) Pride & Prejudice more closely recalls Zico’s bandmate Park Kyung in style, offering a nimble flow over a gentle, jazzy beat. 8. Say Yes Or No (ft. Penomeco & The Quiett) (2015) The hypest of Zico hype tracks, Say Yes Or No lurches on an off-kilter flow that capitalizes on its ever-changing, in-you-face beat. 7. Well Done (ft. Ja Mezz) (2015) Following up on 2014’s posturing Tough Cookie , the mid-tempo Well Done dialed back the attitude for a more emotional, affecting track. 6. She’s A Baby (2017) With its lullaby-like flow and quiet, tempo-shifting instrumental, She’s A Baby isn’t one of Zico’s more instantly memorable tracks — but it is an interesting, artistic experiment. (full review) 5. Eureka (ft. Zion.T) (2015) Enlisting Zion.T’s iconic vocals for the song’s swaggering hook, Eureka struts forward on a warped brass riff and refreshingly old-fashioned sound. 4. Veni Vidi Vici (ft. DJ Wegun) (2015) Over a thundering mix of bombast and jittery funk, Zico gives us one of his most convincing displays of over-the-top braggadocio. 3. Bermuda Triangle (ft. Crush & DEAN) (2016) Teaming up with Crush and DEAN was sure to result in success, but Bermuda Triangle ’s blustering vocal hooks and restless, clattering beat add to the song’s off-kilter appeal. (full review) 2. I Am You, You Are Me (2016) I Am You is Zico at his most melodic, and one of the few examples of coffee-shop k-pop transforming into something that feels compelling throughout. That’s thanks in large part to the song’s serpentine hooks and Zico’s understated, multifaceted performance. (full review) 1. Boys & Girls (ft. Babylon) (2015) Boys & Girls ’s undeniable success can be attributed to many elements coming together in perfect tandem. There’s that sunny, addictive hook, crooned to perfection by r&b vocalist Babylon. There’s the simple electro-bass riff that rumbles alongside the song’s summertime synth-line. And then, of course, there’s Zico’s immense charisma anchoring the every moment of the track’s party-starting atmosphere. In addition to Block B's many fine albums, the group's rappers have made a profusion of mixtapes, which are given away for free--you literally cannot pay for this music. (I guess the plan is that you'll feel guilty for having hours and hours of free music, so then you'll start a Web site to promote the musicians!) Zico has been an especially prolific maker of mixtapes (he has also put music on Soundcloud), although Park Kyung and P.O are no slouches. This is not even all of their songs--there are more out there! I primarily relied on Block B International for translations of the song titles. Note: The vast majority of these songs contain profanity. If the word "Diss" or a recognizable obscenity appears in the title, they contain a LOT of profanity. You have been warned. Zico Unveils First Full Album Tracklist. The title song 'The Thunder Naked' is featuring Jvcki Wai, who is attracting attention for his unique style and musicality, and YUMDDA, who has recently emerged as a hot rapper in hip hop scenes. Rapper Sik-K was also participated in the song 'One-man Show,' heralding the perfect musical synergy. 'One-man show' was first released in August at the FANXY CHILD concert and received a hot response. After confirming his comeback recently, Zico released another title song "People" on various stages, including the JoyOlpak Festival and University Festivals, drawing empathy from the audience, and is already showing signs of great success. Zico's first full-length album, "THINKING Part 1," depicted a self-portrait of youth in his point of view. It's a book-like album of his honest story from what he felt and experienced. Moreover, Zico not only participated in writing and composing all songs, but also actively involved in music video scenario as a brilliant storyteller for his first-ever full-length album. Zico is scheduled to release 'THINKING' Part.1 at 6 pm on the 30th and begin full-scale activities. Zico Reveals A Refreshing And Fun Track List For “RANDOM BOX” Get ready for some super cool music from Zico’s RANDOM BOX! Zico revealed a mighty impressive track list for his third mini album RANDOM BOX . All of the tracks are written and composed by the multitalented soloist. The image for the track list is quite monochrome with blue and white being the dominant colours. However, it somehow and quite ironically (read: title track) evokes quite the summery vibe! The track list for the upcoming mini album entails six tracks in total. It includes Zico’s smashing hit track, “Any Song”. The other songs on the album include, “ROOMMATE”, “NO YOU CAN’T”, and “ 만화영화 (Cartoon)”. There are two stellar collaborations that will feature on the vocalist-rapper’s album as well. Songstress BIBI will be lending her vocals alongside Zico on his track, “ 원수 ”, while his title track, “SUMMER HATE”, will be featuring none other than his I-LAND producer partner, Rain. The album marks Zico’s musical comeback six months after the release of his super hit bop track, “Any Song,” released in January. It has also been almost a year after the release of his highly acclaimed albums, THINKING Part. 1 and THINKING Part. 2 that showed off the artist’s introspective side through the tracks. The singer has also produced and participated in various songs as well. Zico has also showed off his musical genius on collaboration tracks including “Soulmate” featuring IU and “Refresh” with Kang Daniel. Additionally, Zico stunned fans with his soft notes on The King: Eternal Monarch ’s OST track, “My Day Is Full Of You,” alongside Red Velvet’s Wendy. RANDOM BOX, like the name suggests is seemingly more experimental and quirky with its style as seen in Zico track “Any Song”. Zico will be releasing this highly anticipated third mini album RANDOM BOX on July 1..

The North Korean government’s main reactions to the changes taking place in the international environment during this time are illustrated clearly in this passage: fear of increased isolation, apprehension of external threats, and resistance to reform. The transformation of the international situation between the years of 1989 and 1992 presented a daunting challenge for the already struggling North Korean government.

  • Barbara Allen
120 Charles Seeger Versions and Variants of the Tunes of "Barbara Allen" As sung in traditional singing styles in the United States and recorded by field collectors who have deposited their discs and tapes in the Archive of American Folk Song in the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. AFS L 54 Edited by Charles Seeger PROBABLY IT IS safe to say that most English-speaking people in the United States know at least one ballad-tune or a derivative of one. If it is not "The Two Sisters, " it will surely be "When Johnny Comes Marching Home"; or if not "The Derby Ram, " then the old Broadway hit "Oh Didn't He Ramble." If. the title is given or the song sung to them, they will say "Oh yes, I know tllat tune." And probably that tune, more or less as they know it, is to them, the tune of the song. If they hear it sung differently, as may be the case, they are as likely to protest as to ignore or even not notice the difference. Afterward, in their recognition or singing of it, they are as likely to incor porate some of the differences as not to do so. If they do, they are as likely to be aware as to be entirely unconscious of having done ·so. But if they ad mit the difference yet grant that both singings are of "that" tune, they have taken the first step toward the study of the ballad-tune. They have acknow ledged that there are enough resemblances between the two to allow both to be called by the same name.

  • The K-Pop Wave: an Economic Analysis
The K-pop Wave: An Economic Analysis Patrick A. Messerlin1 Wonkyu Shin2 (new revision October 6, 2013) ABSTRACT This paper first shows the key role of the Korean entertainment firms in the K-pop wave: they have found the right niche in which to operate— the ‘dance-intensive’ segment—and worked out a very innovative mix of old and new technologies for developing the Korean comparative advantages in this segment. Secondly, the paper focuses on the most significant features of the Korean market which have contributed to the K-pop success in the world: the relative smallness of this market, its high level of competition, its lower prices than in any other large developed country, and its innovative ways to cope with intellectual property rights issues. Thirdly, the paper discusses the many ways the K-pop wave could ensure its sustainability, in particular by developing and channeling the huge pool of skills and resources of the current K- pop stars to new entertainment and art activities. Last but not least, the paper addresses the key issue of the ‘Koreanness’ of the K-pop wave: does K-pop send some deep messages from and about Korea to the world? It argues that it does. Keywords: Entertainment; Comparative advantages; Services; Trade in services; Internet; Digital music; Technologies; Intellectual Property Rights; Culture; Koreanness. • Song from Pi: a Musically Plausible Network for Pop
Under review as a conference paper at ICLR 2017 SONG FROM PI: A MUSICALLY PLAUSIBLE NETWORK FOR POP MUSIC GENERATION Hang Chu, Raquel Urtasun, Sanja Fidler Department of Computer Science University of Toronto Ontario, ON M5S 3G4, Canada fchuhang1122,urtasun,[email protected] ABSTRACT We present a novel framework for generating pop music. Our model is a hierarchi- cal Recurrent Neural Network, where the layers and the structure of the hierarchy encode our prior knowledge about how pop music is composed. In particular, the bottom layers generate the melody, while the higher levels produce the drums and chords. We conduct several human studies that show strong preference of our gen- erated music over that produced by the recent method by Google. We additionally show two applications of our framework: neural dancing and karaoke, as well as neural story singing. 1 INTRODUCTION Neural networks have revolutionized many fields. They have not only proven to be powerful in performing perception tasks such as image classification and language understanding, but have also shown to be surprisingly good “artists”. In Gatys et al. (2015), photos were turned into paintings by exploiting particular drawing styles such as Van Gogh’s, Kiros et al. (2015) produced stories about images biased by writing style (e.g., romance books), Karpathy et al. (2016) wrote Shakespeare inspired novels, and Simo-Serra et al. (2015) gave fashion advice. Music composition is another artistic domain where neural based approaches have been proposed. Early approaches exploiting Recurrent Neural Networks (Bharucha & Todd (1989); Mozer (1996); Chen & Miikkulainen (2001); Eck & Schmidhuber (2002)) date back to the 80’s.

  • Roots and Routes 188
Fendler / Roots and Routes 188 ROOTS AND ROUTES Hip-Hop from South Korea Ute Fendler University of Bayreuth [email protected] Abstract With the growing success of hip-hop in South Korea, the discussions about the authenticity of this genre increase and create cleavages between the mainstream and the underground rappers. The paper intends to analyze three examples of the contemporary music scene that are representative of different positions. Taking Simon Frith’s work on popular music as a means to construct identity, the paper suggests questioning the concept of authenticity (“roots”) and proposes instead conceiving hip-hop in South Korea as a movement at the crossroads (“routes”) of various influences and practices. Keywords Authenticity, Identity, Music videos, Performance, R&B, Rap About the Author Ute Fendler is chair of romance cultural and comparative cultural studies at the University of Bayreuth (Germany).
