    Sweden ARTROCK ArtRock Sweden 2010 En årskrönika Året 2010 präglades av ett intensivt musikliv där konserter och spelningar verkar finnas i en allt större omfattning. I de mer folkrika städerna kan man ju i princip finna något att se/höra var dag i veckan. Konkurrensen om dess publik blir då naturligtvis även den hårdare, många som vågar (en eloge till er) får också svårare att få det gå ihop ekonomiskt men eldsjälarna verkar aldrig ge sig tack och lov. Det har blivit en hel del konsertrapporter och recensioner 2010 på ArtRock och ett stort tack till er skribenter som gett oss dessa.     TRAVERSES n° 34 ● GENESIS REVISITED II : Concert au Festival de Cornouaille, le 26 juillet 2013, à Quimper Un guitariste « mythique » Pour le grand public rock, le nom de GENESIS évoque le trio Phil COLLINS, Mike RUTHERFORD et Tony BANKS, dernier avatar de cette formation qui s’est produite à Paris (pour la dernière fois ?), il y a quelques années. Pourtant, après une première époque (avec le guitariste Anthony PHILLIPS et le batteur John MAYHEW), peu après les débuts de sa renommée, dès 1971, ce groupe - dont le nom signifie la genèse -, était constitué de cinq musiciens. Les trois nommés (Phil : batterie/chant, Mike : guitares/basse, Tony : claviers/chant) ainsi que Steve HACKETT (guitare solo) et Peter GABRIEL (chant solo et flûte) enregistrèrent ensemble quatre albums qui sont à présent entrés dans la mythologie du rock progressif : Nursery crime (1971), Foxtrot (1972), Selling England by the Pound (1973), The Lamb Lies down on Broadway (1974). Après le départ de Peter GABRIEL en 1975, Steve restera le guitariste solo de GENESIS sur les deux albums studio suivants : A Trick of the Tail (1975) et Wind and Wuthering (1977). Steve HACKETT parti du groupe à son tour se consacra à sa carrière solo, ayant livré à ce jour un impressionnant nombre d’enregistrements rock, mais aussi de guitare classique (6 et 12 cordes). Depuis quelques années, notre musicien et chanteur présente le répertoire des « classiques » de GENESIS (Genesis Revisited) avec son groupe, donnant à entendre les partitions semblables à celles figurant sur les disques mentionnés. Un bon vieux concert ! Steve HACKETT s’est donc produit à Quimper le 26 juillet dernier entouré de Nad SYLVAN (chant), Roger KING (claviers), Gary O’TOOLE (batterie), Rob TOWNSEND (saxophones, flûte et percussions) et Dick CADBURY (basse et guitare double manche).

    Roine Stolt, Kaipa Da Capo, on the european tour a.o. Back to the roots Roine Stolt has been very busy in the past months, not only with his collaborations with Jon Anderson and Steve Hackett, but also with his revitalization of the 70ies legend Kaipa, due to Hans Lundins project to be called Kaipa daCapo. They will be on tour soon, good reason to talk with Roine about his new project. German version of the interview Kaipa released three symphonic classics in the Seventies. After changing their style drastically they disappeared in the early 80ies. At the end of the 90ies there was a plan to have a Kaipa re-union but at that time it failed. Why did it fail at that time and how did it happen that so many years later it worked? Well, I suppose the time wasn’t right. Fact is, when there was talk about playing and record Kaipa music again – already in early 1990 Hans Lundin told me that he did not feel a full reunion with Ingemar and Tomas would work. We needed more “virtuoso” players. I realized after some time that the real Kaipa “sound” wasn’t there anymore – even if Morgan, Jonas and Patrick are very fine musicians. So all this led me to joining with Tomas, Ingemar again and we asked Michael (Stolt) and Max (Lorentz) to form Kaipa DaCapo. We aimed at a more organic sound – far from the “fixed” sequencer recordings” – we just play the music – natural – no clock or metronomes. Have you tried to have the complete original line-up including Hans Lundin or was it clear that Lundin is keeping his own Kaipa version alive? Yes – as said – we tried a few recordings around 1990 – in Tomas studio – but these recordings never saw the light of day – Hans Lundin felt the recordings were not up to the standard.
