Gurdaspur (Pb.) INDIA Printed at : Fazl-e-Umar Printing Press, Qadian ISBN : 978-81-7912-257-0 FOREWORD This is a time when the darkness of materialism has overspread the entire face of the earth and obscured people’s vision. Many there are who profess faith but are deprived of its true sweetness and strength. They are unaware of the One Living, Omnipresent God. For the benefit of seekers after truth, therefore, I present an abridged version of the teaching of the Holy Founder of the Ahmadiyya Movement as laid down in his book Kashti-Nuh (lit. Noah’s Ark) which he wrote to save men from the current deluge of irreligion and materialism. This book was intended mainly for the members of the Ahmadiyya Community but Muslims in general have also been addressed in it. The book is a torch of guidance through which every Muslim, nay every man with a craving for truth and spirituality, can rekindle his inner lamp and illuminate his heart. The present abridgement is an English rendering of the Founder’s own sacred words and, therefore, is replete with all the blessings that descend from heaven on the heart of a holy person. -

Islam's Response to Extremism
In the Words of the Caliph His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad Caliph (Spiritual Leader) of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Islam’s Response to EXTREMISM His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad is widely acknowledged as a man of peace, who has continuously spoken out against extremism and called for a concerted effort to promote peace based on absolute justice. In this leaflet, we present just a few extracts of his statements. THE ACTIONS OF EXTREMISTS CONTRADICT THE TEACHINGS OF ISLAM “Islam’s teachings of peace prohibit all forms of extremism, to the extent, that even in a state of legitimate war, Allah has commanded that any action or punishment should remain proportionate to the crimes committed and that it is better if patience and forgiveness is manifest. Thus, all those so‐ called Muslims who are engaged in violence, injustice and brutality are inviting God’s wrath and anger to their doorstep.” (The 13th National Peace Symposium, Baitul Futuh Mosque, London, 19 March 2016) “...under no circumstances can murder ever be justified and those who seek to justify their hateful acts in the name of Islam are serving only to defame it in the worst possible way.” (Press Release in the aftermath of the Paris attacks, 14 November 2015) “In much of the world today there is a belief or perception that Islam is a religion of extremism and force... Let me say at the outset that this is entirely wrong and the reality is the complete opposite… The truth is that there are some selfish Muslims... who seek only to serve their own personal interests. -

A Tale of Two Ahmadiyya Mosques… 51 Even Take Place Thousands of Miles Away, but Their Effects Can Still Be Felt Locally
49 TALE OF TWO AHMADIYYA A MOSQUES: RELIGION, ETHNIC POLITICS, AND URBAN PLANNING IN LONDON Marzia Balzani Laboratorium. 2015. 7(3):49–71 Laboratorium. 2015. © Marzia Balzani is Research Professor of Anthropology in the Division of Arts and Humanities, New York University Abu Dhabi. Address for correspondence: New York University Abu Dhabi, PO Box 129188, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. [email protected]. I wish to thank Grazyna Kubica-Heller and Agnieszka Pasieka, the organizers of the 2014 European Association of Social Anthropologists conference panel “Post- Industrial Revolution? Changes and Continuities within Urban Landscapes,” where an earlier version of this paper was first presented. I also thank Shamoon Zamir for his generous advice and the two anonymous reviewers for their insightful and constructive comments. Built on the site of a disused dairy in London, the Ahmadiyya Baitul Futuh Mosque is simultaneously a regenerated postindustrial site, a signal achievement for the commu- nity that built it, an affront to local Sunni Muslims, a focus for Islamophobic protest, and a boost to local regeneration plans and tourism. Using town planning documents, media articles, and ethnographic fieldwork, this article considers the conflicting dis- courses available to locals, Muslim and non-Muslim, centered on the new Baitul Futuh Mosque and an older, smaller, suburban Ahmadiyya mosque located nearby. These dis- courses are situated in the broader transnational context of sectarian violence and cre- ation of community where ethnicity, faith, and immigration status mark those who at- tend the mosques. The article considers the different historical periods in which the two mosques were built, the class composition of residents in the neighborhoods of the mosques, and the consequences these have for how the mosques are incorporated into the locality. -

WORLD PEACE the 10 Th Annual Peace Symposium
THE CRITICAL STATE Of WORLD PEACE The 10 th Annual Peace Symposium 23 rd March 2013 Baitul Futuh Mosque, London An Overview of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community The Ahmadiyya Muslim community is a religious organisation, with branches in more than 200 countries. It is the most dynamic denomination of Islam in modern history, with an estimated membership in the tens of millions worldwide. It was established by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) in 1889 in a small and remote village called Qadian in Punjab, India. He claimed to be the expected reformer of the latter days and the awaited one of the world community of religions (the Mahdi and Messiah of the latter days). The community he started is an embodiment of the benevolent message of Islam in its pristine purity that promotes peace and universal brotherhood based on a belief in the Gracious and Ever-Merciful God. With this conviction, within a century, the Ahmadiyya Muslim community has expanded globally and it endeavours to practice the peaceful teachings of Islam by raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities, building schools and hospitals open to all and by encouraging learning through interfaith dialogue. The UK chapter of the community was established in 1913 and in 1924 it built London’s first purpose built mosque (in Southfields). It is therefore one of the oldest and most established Muslim organisations in Britain and now has more than 100 branches across Britain. The Khalifa of Islam: A Man of Peace Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad was elected as the fifth Khalifa of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in 2003.
