Nyckelord: Melodifestivalen, schlager, genusvetenskap, homokultur, gaystudier, bögkultur, heteronormativitet. Innehållsförteckning 1. En älskad och hatad ”homofilfestival” 1

Kvinnan, kändisen, konfliktkatalysatorn Bilden av kändisen Anna Anka i svensk nyhetsjournalistik Maria Andersson Nicole Blomstrand Examensarbete 15 hp, Journalistik (C-nivå) Journalistik och medieproduktion 180 hp Handledare: Anette Forsberg Höstterminen 2009 Linnéuniversitetet Institutionen för samhällsvetenskaper Authors: Maria Andersson & Nicole Blomstrand Title: The women, the celebrity, the conflictcatalyzer, How the celebrity Anna Anka is viewed in Swedish newsjournalism Level: BA Thesis in Journalism Location: Linnaeus University Language: Swedish Number of pages: 50 Abstract The aim of this thesis was to examine how newspaper journalism represented the celebrity Anna Anka. Which roles and qualities did the media ascribe Anna Anka and in what way did the media frame her as a woman. We examined texts and photographs from two Swedish newspapers, Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter, 16 texts were analysed. The method we used were discourse analysis with focus on relations, identities and representation. The result showed that Anna Anka was represented in an essentially equal way in both newspapers. The image of Anna Anka seems to be multifaceted. In the texts Anna Anka becomes a symbol for conflicts that emerge in discourses regarding gender, celebrity and Swedish values. As a woman she is both portrayed as controversial and appearance-fixated. As a wife she is traditional, a woman who takes care of house and family and lets her husband be the provider. On the other hand she is described as a woman who does not follow the traditional norm, she is independent and has a possibility to support herself. As a celebrity, Anna Anka is framed as fairly new in the public appearance.

From an early stage, the Swedish government delegated decision making to the Public Health Agency, and its goal was to mitigate the effects of the virus rather than to suppress its spread. Society was never closed down in the same way as elsewhere. Using data from media reports and other publications, we argue that the agency was insulated from pressure to change course, even as the number of deaths associated with covid-19 rose far above those in Sweden’s Nordic neighbours, by four conditions: (1) the structure of national public administration; (2) an outburst of nationalism in parts of the media; (3) the uneven impact of the virus; and (4) a political leadership that was willing to delegate responsibility for policy almost entirely. We conclude by briefly comparing the coronavirus strategy to previous episodes of Swedish policy exceptionalism. This emerging pattern, we suggest, raises normative questions about the functioning of Swedish democracy. Keywords: Sweden; coronavirus; strategy; mitigation; media; public administration; delegation; nationalism; leadership; democracy 1.

  • Danish Cartoons and Christian-Muslim Relations in Denmark
Exchange 39 (2010) 217-235 brill.nl/exch Danish Cartoons and Christian-Muslim Relations in Denmark Jørgen S. Nielsen Professor and Director of the Centre for European Islamic Thought, Faculty of Theology, University of Copenhagen [email protected] Abstract Prior to the arrival of Muslim immigrants and refugees into Denmark in the 1970s and after, Denmark’s experience with Islam was partly through university-based research and partly through missionary activities. During the 1980s and 1990s both sectors gradually adapted to the settlement of Muslims in the country. In the 1990s the public political debate became increasingly heated, leading to a steady tightening of immigration and refugee policies. In this debate an Islamic dimension was starkly exacerbated by the events of 11 September 2001 and the arrival of a new centre-right government two months later. This was the environment in which the ‘Muhammad cartoons’ were published in September 2005, and in which the domes- tic and international crisis played out over the subsequent 6-8 months. But the events also encouraged the emergence of new Islamic organizations and new responses, both negative and positive, on the part of the churches. While the sharp public debate continues, new apparently sustainable structures of Christian-Muslim relations have appeared. Keywords Muslim-Christian relations, Danish church, Muhammad cartoons The publication1 by the national daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten on 30 Sep- tember 2005 of a set of 12 cartoons presented as ‘perceptions’ of the Prophet Muhammad sparked a crisis which swept round the world over the following many months and which still leaves echoes.
