Consultando il medagliere olimpico della vela, ● USA: 60 medaglie ● Brasile: 17 medaglie (di cui un oro a Rio 2016) ● Spagna: 19 medaglie ● Argentina: 10 medaglie (di cui un oro a Rio 2016) ● Norvegia: 32 medaglie ● Danimarca: 30 medaglie ● Svezia: 35 medaglie si può notare che lo Snipe conosce la maggiore diffusione in quasi tutti i Paesi velisticamente più forti. In USA lo Snipe è molto diffuso sia sui laghi che sulle coste, contando anche sulla presenza di due importanti costruttori. Molti forti velisti usano questa barca per allenarsi alternandola alle classi olimpiche: i campioni di Snipe che hanno vinto anche medaglie olimpiche o campionati del mondo di Star sono innumerevoli. In Brasile lo Snipe è addirittura definito “La barca a vela” per eccellenza.
