Field Developments in Idleb, Northern Hama Countryside, Western Situation Report and Southern Aleppo Countryside During March and April 2019 May 2019 Aleppo Countrysides During March and April 2019 the Information Management Unit 1 Field Developments in Idleb, Northern Hama Countryside, Western and Southern Aleppo Countryside During March and April 2019 The Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU) aims to strengthen the decision-making capacity of aid actors responding to the Syrian crisis. This is done through collecting, analyzing and sharing information on the humanitarian situation in Syria. To this end, the Assistance Coordination Unit through the Information Management Unit established a wide net- work of enumerators who have been recruited depending on specific criteria such as education level, association with information sources and ability to work and communicate under various conditions. The Most Prominent Shelling Operations During March and April 2019, the Syrian regime and its Russian ally shelled Idleb Governorate and its adjacent countrysides of Aleppo and Hama governorates, with hundreds of air strikes, and artillery and missile shells. The regime bombed 14 medical points, including hospitals and dispensaries; five schools, including a kinder- garten; four camps for IDPs; three bakeries and two centers for civil defense, in addition to more than a dozen of shells that targeted the Civil Defense volunteers during the evacuation of the injured and the victims. -

Through its network of enumerators, the Assistance Coordination Unit ACU documented violations of the truce committed by the regime and its Russian ally as of the date of this report. WEEKLY CONFLICT SUMMARY | 23 - 29 MARCH 2020 SYRIA SUMMARY • NORTHWEST | Conflict activity increased between the Government of Syria and the Hayyat Tahrir al Sham (HTS) dominated opposition in the northwest this week. Turkish military re-enforcements arrived in Idleb, conducting additional patrols along the M4 highway. Inside Turkish backed Operation Euphrates Shield areas, clashes between opposition armed groups increased. • SOUTH & CENTRAL | Attacks against Government of Syria (GoS)-aligned personnel continued in Daraa Governorate, also spreading to Rural Damascus Governorate. Clashes between armed groups in As-Sweida resulted in a high number of casualties. • NORTHEAST | Shelling exchanges around Turkish-backed Operation Peace Spring areas continued, with opposition armed groups fighting each other. Also, attacks against Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) personnel in northeast Syria continued, affecting civilians. SDF implemented a curfew in northeast Syria in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Page 1 of 4 WEEKLY CONFLICT SUMMARY | 23 – 29 March 2020 NORTHWEST SYRIA1 Conflict activity increased this week after two weeks of reduced fighting since the implementation of 5 March Turkish/Russian ceasefire. The Government of Syria (GoS) shelled 21 locations 33 times2 during the week according to ACLED. This included one event where a Turkish observation post in Najiyeh village came under shelling. Opposition groups shelled GoS held Saraqeb and Kafr Nobel three times this week. There were only nine shelling exchanges between the sides during the previous reporting week. -

Situation Overview: Idleb Governorate and Surrounding Areas North-west Syria, May 2018 MAJOR DEVELOPMENTS Coverage: Idleb governorate and the surrounding opposition-held areas of western Aleppo and north-western 05 10 20 30 1 2 Nabul Hama governorates host one of the largest IDP populations in Syria. Since late 2017, following an Al Bab Tadaf escalation of violence in north-western and southern Syria, the region has witnessed the further arrival of a ¯ Kilometers Haritan Dana Daret Azza substantial number of IDPs. On average, IDPs represented 36% of the total Jisr-Ash-Shugur Ariha Saraqab Rabee'a Badama population (3,331,836) in assessed communities. With 377,918 IDPs, Dana sub-district accounted for Mhambal Abul Thohur IDLEB Tall Ed-daman 31% of the total reported IDP population. -
