21 YEAR OLD Single Malt Scotch Whisky SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY‘Aged to Perfection’ SIGNATURE BLENDED SCOTCH WHISKY• LOCH LOMOND • 21 YEAR OLD Single Malt Scotch Whisky SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY‘Aged to Perfection’ Since 1814 the Loch Lomond Distillery has been producing the finest single malt whisky. Situated on the banks of Loch Lomond it takes its name from this most picturesque and famous of all Scotland’s lochs - often referred to as one of the world’s natural wonders. Indeed, wherever in the world you may be, when you enjoy our whisky, you’re experiencing the spirit of a very special place. Loch Lomond 21 Year Old Single Malt uses three styles of spirit, two of which are peated, all of which have been matured in a mix of American oak casks. Then, under the watchful eye of Michael Henry, our Master Blender, these spirits are married together for up to three months before bottling. Our 21 year old Loch Lomond is non-chill filtered to allow the whisky’s natural characteristic’s to shine through. Bottled at 46% This exceptional single malt has an underlying fruit character from the Loch Lomond Distillery which comes to the fore with the perfect hint of peat smoke. Perfect anytime straight, over ice or with a little water. Loch Lomond 21 year old uses only spirit from our unique straight neck pot stills. These innovative stills allow superior control at the distillation stage allowing us to take the spirit off at different collection strengths. This flexibility allows us to produce the different flavours found in this expression. TASTING NOTES NOSE Toasted oak and coconut, green apple and ginger. PALATE Sweet vanilla fudge, peach and pear, lime juice with a touch of cinnamon spice. FINISH Long and dry with a wisp of peat smoke and lingering oak spice. Non chill filtered and natural colour. We named the bar after KING EDWARD VII (also known as Bertie) because we feel it would be a place that reflects his personality. Where would we be without this bon viveur, gourmand, and fashion icon? Without Bertie we might not wear tweed or ever eat roast beef and Yorkshire pudding on a Sunday. The bottom button of our waistcoats would have remained fastened. Bertie was a true diplomat, ‘The Uncle of Europe’. He was also a gambler, a cigar smoker, and occasional drinker. He would, we hope, have felt at home here.

Being based in Inveraray, a sizeable proportion of the visitors to our shop in the Summer come from overseas and one of our lots is to try and explain why Scotch is dearer in Scotland than it is in the vast majority of countries. Explain- ing that it is the duty (and the tax on the duty) does not ease their bewilder- ment; why is such a tax levied on a Brit- ish product by the British Government? Answers on a postcard please. In November a confident Chancellor boasted that he understood the injustice of the tax regime on drink, particularly Scotch. However, hopes for a reduction in the rate of duty were little compen- sated by a third successive freeze. The following week a spiteful Mr Clarke Photo courtesy Customer Conniff lashed out a 4% increase in alcohol duty ‘INTRODUCTION TO MALT WHISKY’ WEEKENDS to plug a hole in his assumptions. This is the heartland of whisky and is a popular destination for whisky enthusiasts from all around the world. Many come to devote themselves to the Holy Mother of Malts! Home to over half of the distilleries around Scotland, it is a treat to discover an array of aromas and flavours that will leave you wanting more. Famous for light, fruity characteristics, each distillery has its own unique quirks, creating a very long bucket list of distilleries to sample. SPEYSIDE ABERLOUR DISTILLERY Aberlour translates to Obar Lobhair in Gaelic meaning ‘the mouth of the talkative or noisy stream’, and was founded by James Fleming in 1879, whose family motto is, ‘Let the deed show”. The distillery is supplied by the Rivers Lour and Spey, which is a short distance from Ben Rinnes and is in the heart of Speyside. As a little curiosity, the distillery pours a bottle of Aberlour 12-year-old into the River Spey every year, to mark the start of the salmon fishing season in February. This little ritual is to ‘bless’ the water in hope of a good fishing season for locals.
