Foreword from the District President

With Divine Blessings and Grace of Baghawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations in district have been progressing well in the path of Seva Sadhana. The visionary guidance from Sri Nimish Pandya garu, All President, the motivation and inspiration from Sri S.G. Chalam garu, State President and the able support of State Coordinators have been instrumental in the steady growth of the Organization in .

Spiritual, service and educational wings of SSSSO have started working together with complimentary activities aiming at holistic development of the organization. The service and educational wings take care of society’s needs, and the spiritual wing caters to the individual’s needs.

Our focus has been on revival and expansion. Revival of non performing Bhajana Mandalis and Samithis, strengthening and expansion of organization in all the revenue mandals of the district. This process has been initiated already. Bal-Vikas centers have been revived and rejuvenated with regular Bal Vikas gurus’ training in the district.

Mahila services are appreciable as there has been increasing trend of participation in all service activities and particularly in seva.

All the nationally designed programs like SSSVIP, SSS Narayana Seva, DJP, SRP, RVTC and Mobile Hospital have been implemented in the district.The trained sevadal are shouldering responsibility for each project.

We pray Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba to shower His Blessings and Grace to be worthy instruments in His Divine Mission today, tomorrow and for ever.

Sri Sathya Sai Baba BRIEF HISTORY

Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, India were founded by Bhagawan Baba in August 1965, with the starting of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi in . It is a service organization with spiritual core and base to benefit all of mankind irrespective of religion, caste, creed or sect.

With Divine Blessings and Grace of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the first Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi in Anantapur district was started on 1August 1967 in Anantapur town. Bhagawan Baba nominated the following members as office bearers of the samithi;1.Sri Meda Subbaiah Setty, Chairman 2. Sri T. Chidambaraiah, Vice Chairman 3. Sri T.Pattabhi Ramulu, Secretary 4. Kum N. Lakshmi Devamma, Joint Secretary 5. Sri T.C. Aswarthanarayana, Treasurer 6. Sri Meda Ramaiah Setty, Member and others. The second samithi in the district was started in June 1968 in Dharmavaram town and the office bearers were as follows; 1. Sri K. Pedda Venkata Ramaiah, Chairman 2. Sri P. Ranganna, Secretary 3. Sri K. Radhakrishna, Member 4.Smt B.Rangamma, Member. In the year 1969, samithi was started with the following members as office bearers; 1. Sri B. Narayanappa, Chairman 2. Sri P. Krishna Murthy, Secretary 3. Sri Kondala Rao, Member 4. Sri K.V.S. Sarma, Member 5. Sri M. Nagarangaiah Setty, Member. samithi was started on 30 November 1972 with the office bearers as follows; 1.Sri Putta Narayanaiah, Chairman 2. Sri Jayam Rajagopal, Vice Chairman 3.Sri K.R. Venkatarathnam, Secretary 4. Sri K. Thimmappa, Treasurer 5. Sri Narayana Swamy, Member 6. Sri K.S.Aswarhanarayana, Member.

Bhajana Mandalis were started in and towns in 1975. samithi was started on 6 May 1976, on the auspicious occasion of Mathru Sree Eswaramma day. Dr. N. Anjanaiah was nominated as Chairman of the samithi and other office bearers were as follows; 1. Sri Narasimhulu, Vice Chairman 2. Sri Subramanyam, Secretary. In earlier days, only bhajans were conducted regularly in the samithis. Bal-Vikas classes were started in the year 1972 in Guntakal, Dharmavaram, Hindupur and Anantapur samithis. Narayana seva and medical camps were organized on some important occasions. Hindupur samithi organized daily Homeo clinic from the year 1972.

The main persons responsible for the growth of organization in the district were as follows; 1. Sri T. Chidambaraiah 2. Sri G.V. Satyanarayana 3.Dr. N.Anjanaiah 4. Kum N. Lakshmi Devamma 5.Sri T. C. Aswarthanarayana 6. Sri Jwalanaiah 7. Sri Meda Subbaiah Setty 8.Sri T. Satyanarayana 9. Sri Meda Ramaiah Setty 10. Sri T. Nagaraju 11. Sri V. Nagabushana Rao.

Sri T. Chidambaraiah was the first Distrct President and laid strong foundation for the growth of organization in the district. Sri G. V. Satyanarayana took keen interest ever since he was nominated as District President and toured the district extensively , and initiated certain activities for strengthening of samithis/bhajana mandalis. Sri O.G.Rao and Sri A.V.Raman developed training modules and conducted number of training camps for sevadal not only in Anantapur district but also in other districts of the state during 1970s. Sri T.C.Aswarthanarayana and Sri Jwalanaiah along with others , played an important role in developing infrastructural facilities in Anantapur town for SSSO as well as SSSCT. Sri Pattabhi Ramulu donated 42 cents of land for the construction of SSS Kalyana Mandapam at Anantapur in 1971. Dr. N. Anjanaiah came on the scene of organization in the district after May 1976, took keen interest on educating the office bearers on organizational knowledge, rules and regulations and importance of all the wings of the organization. He took special interest in conducting training programs on Sevadal, Bal-Vikas, Study Circles and Bhajans. Sri V. Nagabushana Rao took sufficient interest in promoting Bal-Vikas in the district. Sri K. Satyanarayana Murthy has been active in the organization since 1988 and instrumental in starting many bhajana mandalis in different parts of the district. Sri Y. Ravichand toured the district extensively and enabled the samithis/bhajana mandalis stabilized and run smoothly.

The expansion of organization started in 1990s and the growth is steady. All the nationally designed programs like SSSVIP, SSS National Narayana Seva, DJP, SRP, RVTC and Mobile Hospital have been implemented in the district. Pamdurthy and Pothulakunta villages were adopted under SSS Village Integrated Program ( SSSVIP ),which addresses the holistic needs of a villager and thus, the village. Deena Janodharana Pathakam ( DJP ) centre was started at Hindupur on 14 May 2009 with 2 children by Hindupur samithi. At present, there are 36 children in the DJP centre. Smt Katta Vasavamba and Sri Katta Srinivasaiah family constructed a building worth about Rs 75,00,000/- and gave it to Hindupur samithi on 13 March 2013 for running the DJP centre. Sri Sathya Sai Lakshmi Narayanaswamy Rural Vocational Training Centre ( SSSLN RVTC ) was inaugurated at by Sri R. J. Rathnakar garu, Trustee, SSSCT, Prasanthi Nilayam on 20 November 2014. Sri B.N. Yugandhar garu, IAS (Retd.) donated Rs 78,00,000/- to Sri Sathya Sai Trust, AP, to establish RVTC at Tadipatri. Out of which, an amount of Rs 75,00,000/- was deposited in Canara Bank, and the interest accrued on the deposit is being utilized for maintaining SSSLN RVTC, Tadipatri. Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi, Tadipatri acquired 769 square yards land by paying Rs 54,00,000/- for the purpose of RVTC and mandir. The RVTC is offering training in Electrical technician trade and Plumbing trade. So far, 91 youth are trained in 12 batches.

The following statistics for the year 2018-19 indicate the steady growth of organization in Anantapur district.  20 Samithis and 181 bhajana mandalis with about 5000 members  86 Bal-Vikas centres have 5801 students and 134 B V gurus  Sevadal – 620 men and 610 women with 360 youth  8 Medical centres serving 15,006 beneficiaries  Narayana Seva to 86,272 beneficiaries  Vocational training to 50 youth ( gents ) and 49 ladies to earn their livelihood  DJP centre with 36 students  SSS National Narayana Seva to 98 beneficiaries At present, the organization has samithis and bhajana mandalis spreading in 34 revenue mandals out of 63 revenue mandals in the district. The expansion of organization in the remaining 29 mandals of the Anantapur district has been initiated. We, all the office bearers of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation , Anantapur district pray Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba to guide and motivate us to reach our goals in the expansion of organization at the earliest. Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations is functional in Anantapur District with members from various cross sections of society and different faiths. With 201 Samithis and Bhajan Mandalis, the Organisation serves as a platform for its members to undertake spiritual practices through its various wings such as spiritual, education and service for their own betterment.

The thrust is on self-transformation for it is only individual transformation that would ultimately lead to global transformation.

SPECIFIC SERVICE PROJECTS OR INITIATIVES

1. Deena Janodharana Pathakam

Deena Janodharana Pathakam ( DJP ) is one of the important activities of SSSSO. DJP is the adoption of orphan boys, who have no parents or having a single parent and bringing them up in an ideal way. DJP centre was started at Hindupur on 14 May 2009 with 2 children by Hindupur samithi. At present, there are 36 children in the DJP centre and the senior most member is studying second year B.Tech in a reputed Engineering college at .

One Sai family from Hindupur town constructed a very good building with all the facilities and gave it to Hindupur samithi on 13 March 2013 for running the DJP centre. By Divine Grace of Swamy, the children are trained regularly in bhajan singing, Veda chanting, yoga, classical dance, karate etc., in addition to regular studies.

2. Rural Vocational Training Centre

Rural Vocational Training Centre ( RVTC ) is one of the three National Initiatives taken throughout the country on the occasion of the 90th Birthday celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and also the Golden Jubilee celebrations of SSSSO. Sri Sathya Sai Lakshmi Narayanaswamy Rural Vocational Training Centre ( SSSLN RVTC ) at Tadipatri was inaugurated by Sri R.J.Rathnakar garu, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Prasanthi Nilayam, on 20th November 2014. The RVTC is offering training in Electrical technician trade and Plumbing trade with an intake of about 10 youth in each batch. It is a totally free residential program with 3 months duration. So far, 91 youth are trained in 12 batches. During this year, 30 youth are trained in three batches ( 10th to 12th batch ). The trained youth are in touch with the centre for further support and advice. All the youth are reasonably placed.

3. Mobile Hospital

Sri Satha Sai Seva Samithi, Anantapur is conducting monthly Mobilie Hospital in remote villages namely Sidracharla, Malavalla Palli and Kottala, which are about 25 Km from Anantapur. These villages have no proper transport facilities. Dr. K. Satish, M.S., FRCS, 3 paramedical staff and about 4 sevadal are attending this medical service on 3rd Sunday of every month. About 80 patients are treated regularly and medicines are given for one month duration in each camp.

4. Disaster Management

Disaster Management ( DM ) continues to be an important activity under taken by SSSSO, Anantapur district. It is envisaged to develop a DM team in the district comprising of talented and skilled youth, who can rise to the occasion in the event of any crises/disaster. District level training for youth and DM awareness programs for college students were organized in the district. Disaster management training camp was conducted in Police Training College, Anantapur during 2 & 3 Feb 2019 by DM team, . 25 Probationary Deputy Superintendent Police personnel participated in training. The main topics of the training were First aid, Fire fighting, Water rescue methods, Rope techniques and various emergency rescue techniques. 16 Faculty members organized the training camp.The training was well appreciated by the Principal, Police Training College, Anantapur and participants. A two day DM training was also conducted to 615 trainee Sub-Inspectors of AP Police in two batches during Jan 2018 and March 2018, in Police Training College, Anantapur.

5. Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Jyothi Program

With the Divine Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, six elementary schools were adopted under Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Jyothi Program by four samithis in Anantapur district. Bal-Vikas classes were conducted weekly once regularly in all the six schools. Note books, pens, pencils etc. were distributed in all the schools during this year. Toys were distributed to students in MPP Elementary School,Kondam Palli by Penukonda samithi. Yoga day was organized in MPP Elementary School, Bukkaraya Samudram, by Anantapur Samithi. The students of MPUP School, Marukunta Palli participated in drawing competitions conducted by People’s Youth Association, Chittoor and 9 students won medals. A few more events were organized in some of the schools as per the schedule of monthly SSSVJ Program.

Anantapur District Pavitra Parthi Yatra

With Divine Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Anantapur District Pavitra Parthi Yatra was organized during 2 & 3 Feb 2019 in a grand manner. About 14,000 devotees participated in this holy pilgrimage to the abode of Bhagawan from all parts of the district. 70 implements were distributed to the needy persons to earn their livelihood in the Divine presence on 3 Feb 2019. Sri R.J. Rathnakar garu, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Prasanthi Nilayam addressed the devotees in Purna Chandra Auditorium on 3 Feb 2019. The procession of a well decorated Swami’s chariot accompanied by various cultural teams preceded through the streets of town in the evening of 2 Feb 2019 was a feast to the eyes of devotees. Veda Chanting, Bhajans, Sangeetha Vibhavari and Dance Drama programs performed in Sai Kulwanth Hall by the members of SSSSO, Anantapur district were well appreciated by one and all.

1. SSS National Narayana Seva

Sri Sathya Sai National Narayana Seva ( SSSNNS ) is a unique program of delivering Amrutha Kalasams and Cooked Food at the door step of the deserving persons. Amrutha Kalasam is a monthly ration consisting of rice, dhal, cooking oil, jiggery/sugar, soaps, tooth paste etc. Amrutha Kalasams and Cooked Food are being delivered to the beneficiaries by different samithis for more than 15 years in the district.

Hindupur samithi started delivering cooked food daily to five beneficiaries on 3 June 2013 and at present serving three meal ( breakfast, lunch and dinner ) to 30 beneficiaries daily. Anantapur samithi started this seva with five beneficiaries on 28 March 2017 and at present serving 6 beneficiaries daily. Lepakshi samithi and Unthakal samithi are also serving daily meal to three and one beneficiaries respectively for the last 15 years. In addition to this, 58 Amrutha Kalasams are distributed by different samithis in the district. Out of 58 beneficiaries , 35 are HIV positive children. Total beneficiaries in SSSNNS are 98 persons during this year.

2. Govt. Hospital Service

Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi, Dharmavaram started hospital service on 22 March 2018. The samithi is serving food to about 100 pregnant women, who come for regular check up on every Friday of the week at Govt. Hospital, Dharmavaram. Dharmavaram samithi is also serving food to about 200 attendants of patients on the same day. Total beneficiaries are 15,600 persons during this year.

3. .Mass Marriages

With Divine Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Hindupur samithi has been organizing mass marriages every year, since 1995. Gold mangalyam, cloths, utensils, blankets, bed spreads, lunch plates, tumblers etc. are distributed to the newly wedded couples. Breakfast and wedding lunch are provided to all the relatives , friends and guests. The food is prepared by samithi mahila sevadal with love. The marriages are performed following all rituals and traditions.

Mass marriages were performed to 40 couples by Hindupur samithi and also Chikatimani Palli samithi during this year.

4. Summer Buttermilk and Water Camp

Butter milk was served daily to 1000 members at Guntakal by Guntakal samithi during the period, 31 March to 31 May 2018 ( 62 days ). Anantapur samithi served daily butter milk to 100 members and water to 500 members for 60 days during April & May 2018 . Hindupur samithi served water daily to 500 members and butter milk weekly 2 days to 1000 members for 60 days during April & May 2018.Tadipatri samithi served daily water to 700 members for 70 days during April to June 2018. In addition to Summer Camp, Tadipatri samithi is serving water throughout the year through water coolers installed at four different places in Tadipatri town. Penukonda samithi served daily water to 500 members and every Sunday ( Market day ) butter milk to 100 members for 92 days during April to June 2018. Pamidi samithi served daily water to 600 members for 90 days during April to June 2018 at three different places. Total beneficiaries from all the samithis are 4,07,500 members ( Butter milk : 89,000 and water : 3,18,500 ).

5. Free Tuitions

Spreading the light of Education, free tuition centre was started in the year 1998 by Nalluru bhajana mandali in Roddam samithi region. 40 students from I class to VII class attended free tuitions during the year 2018-19. The students are encouraged, guided and also supported to pursue higher education. Cholemarri bhajana mandali in Roddam samithi region also started free tuition centre in the year 2006. 30 students from I class to V class attended free tuitions during the year 2018-19. Regular B V classes are also conducted on every Sunday in both the centres.
