ABERDARE CHRISTMAS SHOW The show of meat, poultry, and game at the Aberdare Market House on Friday was highly creditable, and some fine meat was displayed. Mrs. Rowlands, as usual, had an exceptionally good display of really first-class beef, and carried off the chief prizes. None the less fortunate was Mr. Walters, whose beef and mutton was also of a high order. A number of prizes were awarded to the best exhibits, the Judges being Mr. W. Little and Dr. Davies. After the judging there was a cold luncheon at the Cowbridge Arms (now the Market Tavern. Ed.), when the High Constable (Mr. W.D.Williams*) presided. A number of the leading gentry sat down to the good things. There follows a list of the prizes awarded. The entries included such items as six dressed geese with giblets, do without giblets, two couples of fat ducks, a couple of hares, cask of Welsh butter, best Caerphilly cheese &c. From the West Door of Llandaff Cathedral, go up the steps and turn right along the lane. Go past the white building, Prebendal House. 2. After about 100 yards (90m) turn left along the track. After about 100 yards (90m) there is a seat cut into the wall, followed by another one. 3. Turn left at the first sign (marked Llandaff North). A very short distance to the right you can see the Llandaff weir. 4. After 160 yds (150m) the path turns sharply left alongside the boundary of the Llandaff Rowing Club. 5. Turn right when you reach Bridge Road. Immediately after the turning to Llandaff Rowing Club, turn right again and follow the path along the riverbank. 6. Continue along the path, passing two benches and returning to Bridge Road. 7. On reaching the road, turn right. 8. Cross the road to enter Radyr Court Road. To do so safely, you can continue over the river bridge and take a set of steps to the right, leading to an underpass, or continue further and use the zebra crossing. 9. Walk along Radyr Court Road. When the road curves to the left (Gerddi Taf) after about 650 yards (600m), continue straight on, with the riverbank on your right. 10.     DIEC/ SOUTH WALES AND MONMOUTHSHIRE TRADING ESTATES LTD The Welsh Industrial Estates Corporation The South Wales and Monmouthshire Trading Estates Ltd, was incorporated in 1936. Its task was to introduce diverse industry into Wales. In the same year 165 acres of land at Treforest (between Cardiff and Pontypridd) were purchased and the establishment of the first industrial estate in Wales began. It expanded during the war and in 1945 the Board of Trade took control. The company changed its name to Wales and Monmouthshire Industrial Estate Ltd. Four new estates were built at Bridgend, Hirwaun, Swansea and Wrexham (co. Flint). In 1960 the firm was taken over by the Industrial Estates Management Corporation for Wales and in 1966 the name was changed to the Welsh Industrial Estates Corporation.
