Tel: 01943 466335 Email: [email protected] OCTOBER 2010 No 53 The 10th Otley Beer Festival The 10th Otley Beer Festival is scheduled to take place on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th November, from noon until 11pm each day. Following closure of the Civic Centre, the organisers of the beer festival (known collectively as Otley RATS) were still keen for the event to continue and are pleased to announce that, thanks to the enthusiasm of its Committee, the venue will be Otley Rugby Club – only a short distance from the Civic Centre. The Otley Beer Festival is organised on behalf of Otley Parish Church (hence the logo) and raises monies for various local charities as well as the upkeep of the church building. To date over £37,500 has been handed over. Once again we look forward to an event which brings together Otley folk and peo - ple from much further afield for a truly friendly and happy occasion. Over 60 real ales from around Yorkshire together with real cider and perry and a global bottle bar will be available and these should provide a diverse array of styles, strengths, flavours, aromas and colours to suit all tastes. Food will also be available at certain times. Although no stage is available this year, it is hoped that some form of live musical entertainment will be available from time to time. I have been Leeds Youth Service has a range of things going on for young people aged 11 – 19 in Otley. We busy getting to know the range of excellent services at Otley Children’s Centre. Organised by Otley Town Partnership, the Visit Otley site gives visitors to Otley, along with the residents of the town, comprehensive information about everything that Otley has to offer. The annual programme of events in Otley which attracts countless visitors to the town is the main feature of the website, along with numerous other things that make Otley special, including the glorious scenery, specialist shops, markets and the many cafes, pubs and restaurants.
