Stan i struktura w przekroju terytorialnym” jest kolejnym opracowaniem, wydawanym przez Główny Urząd Statystyczny w cyklach półrocznych, zawierającym podstawowe informacje statystyczne o liczbie i strukturze ludności. Od połowy lat siedemdziesiątych publikacja ukazywała się w serii „Materiały źródłowe”, od 2005 r. (począwszy od danych wg stanu w dniu 31.12.2004 r.) zmieniono serię wydawniczą na „Informacje i opracowania statystyczne”. Bieżące opracowanie przedstawia wyniki bilansu ludności, który został sporządzony według stanu w dniu 31.12.2008 r. dla wszystkich jednostek podziału administracyjnego kraju (województwa, powiaty oraz gminy w przekroju dla miast i terenów wiejskich). Dodatkowo bilans ludności został wyprowadzony dla jednostek podziału statystycznego, tj. dla regionów (NTS 1) i podregionów (NTS 3). Należy przypomnieć, że bilans ten opracowano przy przyjęciu za bazę do obliczeń wyników Narodowego Spisu Powszechnego Ludności i Mieszkań z dnia 20.05.2002 r. Opracowanie zawiera: ¾ informacje o liczbie i strukturze ludności w podziale na płeć i wiek według stanu w dniu 31.12.2008 r. Dane zestawiono w 17 tablicach wynikowych. 13 tablic wydano w formie zarówno książkowej jak i elektronicznej, natomiast 4 – wyłącznie na CD ze względu na ich dużą objętość; w wersji elektronicznej podane zostały również symbole terytorialne powiatów i gmin. Dodatkowo w wersji elektronicznej rozszerzono zakres tablicy 6 – „Ludność według płci, grup wieku i województw” o pojedyncze roczniki wieku i funkcjonalne grupy; ¾ analizę zmian rozwoju demograficznego Polski do 2008 r.; ¾ informacje o ruchu naturalnym ludności (małżeństwa, rozwody, urodzenia, zgony) oraz o migracjach na pobyt stały (wewnętrznych i zagranicznych), a także wybrane wskaźniki demograficzne dotyczące 2008 r. (4 tablice wynikowe); ¾ dane o ludności i ruchu naturalnym w Polsce na tle wybranych krajów w 2007 r. (1 tablica wynikowa). Przekazując publikację wyrażamy nadzieję, że spełni oczekiwania Odbiorców, jednocześnie prosimy o nadsyłanie uwag, komentarzy, które postaramy się uwzględnić w kolejnych edycjach. Size and structure by territorial division” is the successive study in the series published by the Central Statistical Office twice a year and including the main statistical information on the size and structure of population. Since the middle of 1970s the publication was part of the “Source materials” series, and since 2005 (starting with the data as of December 31, 2004) the series changed to “Statistical Information and Elaborations”. This study presents the results of population balance made as of December 31, 2008 for all units of administrative division of Poland (voivodships, powiats and gminas, by urban and rural areas). Additionally the population balance data how been calculated for units of statistical division, i.e. for regions (NUTS 1) and subregions (NUTS 3). It should be mentioned that the balance was made taking as the basis for calculations the results of the National Population and Housing Census held on May 20, 2002. The study includes: ¾ information on the size and structure of population by sex and age as of December 31, 2008. The data were compiled in 17 result tables. 13 of them in both book and electronic form, and 4 tables only on CD – due to their large volume; in electronic version territorial symbols of powiats and gminas are also presented. Additionally in electronic form more information was given at table 6 -“Population by sex, age groups and voivodships” at single years of age and functional groups. ¾ analysis of demographic development of Poland until 2008; ¾ vital statistics (marriages, divorces, births, deaths) and migration for permanent residence (internal and international) and selected demographic indicators, for 2008 (4 result tables); ¾ data about population and vital statistics in comparison with selected countries in 2007 (1 result table). Presenting this publication we hope that it will meet your expectations, simultaneously asking for comments which we will take into account preparing the future issues of the publication. In some instances, the benefits of stocking can be overshadowed by negative effects such as genetic introgression with natural populations, loss of genetic diversity, and dilution of local adaptations. Methods that facilitate the identification of stocked fish enable us to estimate not only the effectiveness of stocking but also the level of natural reproduction and the degree of hybridization. The longest Baltic river, the Vistula, also has the second highest discharge. Historically, it hosted numerous populations of the anadromous form of brown trout (sea trout); however, dam construction has since interfered with and reduced spawning migration to a rate that is much lower than before.

When, however, we juxtapose his- torical data on the trade exchange development and the date on the ports which function as such at present, the existing, significant differences come to us as a surprise. This is because contemporary Pomeranians do not identify mental- ly as dealing with maritime trade directly such towns as Stargard Szczeciński (Stargard in Pommern), Goleniów (Gollnow), Trzebiatów (Treptow an der Rega), Kamień Pomorski (Cammin in Pommern), or Wolin (Wollin). When seeking an answer to the question why certain towns and settlements ceased to function as maritime centres whereas others either continued in this role to a limited degree, or built up on it, a scrutiny of economic factors, no matter how decisive a role they played in the process in question, will not suffice. There was a clearly ob- servable moment in the history of Pomeranian Baltic towns when the convenient situation of a town on sea could not guarantee this town participation in maritime trade. In some, critical for maritime trade, moments, natural conditions had to be improved, water routes – deepened, new waterfronts – reinforced or built, new breakwaters – built, and ports – armed in modern transshipment infrastructure so as to preserve the position of a strong trade centre. The research used the taxonomic measure of development by Z. Hellwig, which replaces the description of the studied objects with the use of many variables with the description using one aggregate quantity.
