  • Study on Integrated Economic Strength Evaluation
Advances in Computer Science Research (ACSR), volume 76 7th International Conference on Education, Management, Information and Mechanical Engineering (EMIM 2017) Study on Integrated Economic Strength Evaluation of Coastal Counties: Taking Liaoning Province as an Example Qiang Mao School of Management, Bohai University, Jinzhou 121013, China. [email protected] Keywords: Integrated economic strength; Comprehensive evaluation; Coastal counties; Liaoning province Abstract. The integrated economic strength evaluation of coastal counties is an important area of study on regional competitiveness, and the research results may help government to make strategic adjustments in the distribution and structure. Based on a brief description of literature review, a method based on stakeholders’ perspective is proposed to solve the integrated economic strength evaluation problem. In addition, the effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated by the example as Liaoning province. Finally, some development proposals are proposed to promote coastal counties economy according to the evaluation result and characteristics. Introduction Coastal counties can get prosperity for trading with the world and will be easy to form manufacturing bases for processing trade, because they have convenient transportation conditions for international trade. Many scholars are attracted to the research of integrated economic strength evaluation for its widely application background. He (2014) designed evaluation index system based on the perspective of economy development demand in county level, and analyzed the supporting ability of science and technology in Anhui by means of analytic hierarchy process(AHP) [2]. Luo et al. proposed a method to evaluate the level of economic development of counties in Liaoning province based on entropy TOPSIS method. They took 44 counties of Liaoning province as research objects, and the evaluation index system was established from three aspects: economic development, people’s living and investment consumption.

  • The Split Personality of 2018'S 3Rd Beijing Photo Biennial
‘Troubled Intentions Ahead: Confusing Public and Private.’ The Split Personality of 2018’s 3rd Beijing Photo Biennial By John B Turner, Beijing, 10 October 2018 Seldom has the name of an event been so apt as that of the Central Academy of Fine Arts Art Museum (CAFAM’s) ‘Confusing Public and Private,’ the title of the belated 3rd Beijing Photo Biennial, but not in the way intended. Viviane Sassen (Netherlands). Installation detail WARNING: PR DISASTER AHEAD! CAFA Art Museum has a public relations problem. I contacted them several times last year to ask for information about their due third Photo Biennial. I wanted to participate and help publicise it. The first and second biennials, in 2013 and 2015 were international in scope, with challenging contemporary work of a higher standard than the many token “international” photography events that I have seen in China. They also had a top lineup of practitioners and academics to discuss topical issues. Nothing, nothing and nothing came from my web searches and direct enquiries to CAFAM, and nowhere could I find any notice that the 3rd Photo Biennial had been canned or postponed. I later learned that the head of the Museum, Wang Huangsheng, who is known as a shaker and mover in the art scene had moved on. But there was no news of the expected biennial which I feared had been starved to death. Nobody I asked at the October 2017 International PhotoBeijing week, with which the first CAFA biennial was linked, nor my other contacts could tell me why the most exciting photography event in Beijing had simply disappeared from the calendar? My early enquiries this year bore no fruit until I met Cai Meng, a curator of CAFAM, at Three Shadows Photography Art Center a month ago.

State Building, Capitalism, and Development: State-Run Industrial Enterprises in Fengtian, 1920-1931 A DISSERTATION SUBMITTED TO THE FACULTY OF THE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA BY Yu Jiang IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY Liping Wang, Ann Waltner October 2010 © Yu Jiang, 2010 Acknowledgements I am grateful that Department of History at University of Minnesota took a risk with me, somebody with no background in history. I also thank the department for providing a one-semester fellowship for my dissertation research. I am deeply indebted to Minnesota Population Center for hosting me in its IT team for many years – it allowed me, a former software engineer, to keep abreast of the latest developments in computer technology while indulging in historical studies. Thanks are especially due to Steve Ruggles (MPC director) and Pete Clark (IT director) for giving me this great opportunity. The source materials for this dissertation mostly come from Liaoning Provincial Archives, Liaoning Provincial Library, and Meihekou Archives. I thank these institutions for their help. Liaoning Shekeyuan offered both warm reception and administrative help right after I arrived in Shenyang. My archival research in Shenyang also benefited greatly from Chris Isett’s help. Su Chen from East Asian Library at University of Minnesota has been helpful numerous times in locating important documents. My committee members, Mark Anderson, Ted Farmer, M.J. Maynes, Ann Waltner, and Liping Wang provided valuable comments on the draft. M.J. and Ann’s thoughtful comments on a paper based on my dissertation helped improve my work.

  • Pre-World War II Manchurian Ancient Architectural Research by Japanese Architectural Historian Murata Jiro
Pre-World War II Manchurian Ancient Architectural Research by Japanese Architectural Historian Murata Jiro Chien-Chung Chen*1 and Chao-Ching Fu2 1 Ph.D. Candidate, Department of Architecture, National Cheng-Kung University, Taiwan 2 Distinguished Professor, Department of Architecture, National Cheng-Kung University, Taiwan Abstract Research of Manchurian ancient architecture was initiated by the Japanese people during Japan's colonial expansion prior to World War II, particularly architectural historian Murata Jiro. His long-term and systemic organization of the historical origins of Manchurian ancient architecture enabled us to understand the unique appearance of Manchurian buildings. Murata's efforts also contributed to the first edition of "Manchuria Architectural History." In 1924, Murata worked as a teacher in the South Manchuria Industrial Technical School in Dalian, and his ancient architecture surveys would become the most significant achievements of his life. In 1928, Murata first issued the "Summary of Manchuria Architectural History" to outline the appearance of ancient architecture. Manchuria Architecture, published in 1935, was the first ever completed Manchurian architectural history compilation. Moreover, in 1931, based on his Manchurian study, Murata published the "Historical Discourses in the East Asian Architectural Systems," which transcends academic conventions to construct an innovative "cultural geography conception of architectural history." Because of the dearth of research related to Murata Jiro that has been conducted at present, the authors analyzed the data provided in the Journal of Manchuria Architectural Association to investigate how Murata implemented his studies during the Manchurian period and evaluated their results. Keywords: Manchuria; Murata Jiro; colonial architecture; architectural historian; Chinese architectural history 1.
