INFORMATION SHEET – D191 – April 2019 INFORMATION SHEET – D191 – April 2019 What is D191? IMRO makes four major distributions for domestic income each year; in April, July, October and December. D191 is the First major domestic distribution for 2019. As a result of IMRO’s increase in the frequency of royalty payments in a number of revenue streams, this distribution relates to the following royalties: ▪ Domestic Radio and Television Broadcasts (October – December 2018) ▪ Tours and Residencies (October – December 2018) ▪ Digital Royalties (July - September 2018) ▪ Live Music Survey (October – December 2018) ▪ Background Music (July - September 2018) ▪ Discos (July - September 2018) Basis of Payment Run Information regarding the basis of payment for the above distribution elements can be found in the IMRO Distribution Policies document which is available online at www.imro.ie. A brief synopsis is outlined below. Domestic Radio and Television (including advertising) All TV and Radio stations are paid out on a duration basis. The broadcasting revenue is shared amongst all performances logged and matched (i.e. linked to a work on our repertoire database). Submissions of music logs received too late for inclusion in the distribution are added to the next available broadcast distribution. Unidentified performances may be claimed by members by visiting our Online Unidentified Performance and Commercial Claim facilities, which are available by registering on the IMRO website at www.imro.ie . Please contact David Wilkinson at [email protected] for assistance with registering on the IMRO website. Sample Rates Stations are categorised either as full census, sampled or mixed. Where a station is sampled, the value paid for each play is correspondingly higher than it would be if the station were subject to a full census. If a station is on a mixed rate this means that they are delivering full census reports for all automated programming (i.e. where music is played out using an automated/play-out system) and are on a sample rate for all programming not delivered via an automated system (i.e. incorporating specialist programming). As it would not be economically viable to collect and process logs from Community radio stations, the small amount of revenue received from these stations is distributed as part of the RTÉ Radio 1 and 2FM pools. Tours and Residencies IMRO receives submissions from our members and affiliated societies informing us of gigs and residencies throughout the country. The Tours and Residencies payment relates to those submissions. As Tours and Residencies are distributed four times a year, we encourage you to regularly submit your live performance details and set lists online via the member’s area of www.imro.ie so that you do not miss the submission deadlines. The submission deadlines for the Tours and Residencies Scheme are as follows: Performances Period Submission Deadline IMRO Distribution January – March Mid-May July April – June Mid-August October July – September Mid-October December October – December Mid-February April Live Music Survey The Live Music Survey is an extensive survey of live music in bars and hotels throughout the country. IMRO uses an independent agency to conduct visits to live music venues and to report back to IMRO the actual music being played. Recorded background music Recorded background music pools are distributed on the basis of analogies. Rather than distributing on the basis of actual surveys of recorded music use throughout the country, IMRO uses a selection of record sales charts and radio station logs that best reflects the music being used and the amount of usage. Discos Revenue collected from commercial discos is distributed on the basis of an analogy selected from charts (including popular and dance) and various radio station broadcasts. Hotel Dances Hotel Dances are distributed on the basis of an analogy selected from various radio station broadcasts. Online (Ringtones/ Downloads/Streaming) In this distribution, IMRO is distributing revenue received from the following online providers: ▪ RTE Player – October – December 2018 ▪ iTunes movies – July – September 2018 ▪ XBOX – April - June 2018 ▪ UPC TVOD – July – September 2018 ▪ UPC SVOD – July – September 2018 ▪ Netflix – Jan - March 2018 ▪ Googleplay – April - June 2018 General Music Payment Rates for D191: Description Sample Days Per Month Per Minute Rate 2FM RADIO GENERAL All 1.84 3e TV GENERAL All 0.17 4FM RADIO GENERAL All 0.19 96FM RADIO GENERAL All 0.35 BE3 TV GENERAL All 0.25 BEAT 102-103 RADIO GENERAL All 0.27 C103 RADIO GENERAL All 0.16 CLARE FM RADIO GENERAL Mixed -
