The subject matter is the making of a maritime study for the Krk LNG FSRU terminal within the Open procurement process for ''Services of preparation of the design and permitting documentation for the construction of the Krk LNG terminal and consulting services relating to obtaining of all necessary permits and approvals: FEED preparation and main design preparation for Krk LNG FSRU terminal and obtaining of construction permit and LNG FSRU terminal power supply system documentation.''1 The aim of this study is to propose a sea traffic and navigation solution and measures of maritime safety for the area of the future LNG FSRU terminal on the island of Krk with regard to the respective regulations, i.e. provisions of the contract. The conclusions of this study, i.e. their implementation by persons authorised to do so, shall ensure the carrying out of access, stay and departure of referent LNG carriers and other ships in the specified area in a safe way, i.e. a way in which a satisfactory level of sea and marine life safety is secured. The study is based on existing legal regulations of the Republic of Croatia and in this respect, it is based on the following assumptions: characteristics of considered ships comply with the requirements set forth by the provisions of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 (SOLAS 74), the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 1973/78 (MARPOL 73/78), the International Convention on Load Lines, 1966 (LOADLINE 1966), the International Convention on Tonnage Measurements of Ships, 1969 (TONNAGE 1969), as amended, or as required by the relevant and applicable technical rules of the Croatian Register of Shipping; the FSRU meets all requirements that a ship in international navigation must meet, i.e. those that have been specified by the SOLAS Convention and other international conventions accepted within the International Maritime Organisation and ratified by the Republic of Croatia; additionally, the FSRU meets all requirements, especially those related to structural safety, prescribed by the flag state as well as technical requirements prescribed by the authorised recognised organisation (RO) and the authorised recognised security organisation (RSO); in this sense, it is presumed that the recognised organisation is a member of the IACS or the Croatian Register of Shipping; characteristics of ships used for transport of liquefied gas meet the requirements prescribed by The International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk (IGC Code), as amended; characteristics of ships that are not subject to international conventions and characteristics of yachts and boats comply with requirements prescribed by the authorised administration of the respective flag states; 1 Floating Storage and Regasification Unit - FSRU. In the remaining text, the standard English abbreviation for a unit used in importing LNG and its re-gasification, will be used. The term terminal, in this study, only applies to land facilities, their infrastructure and equipment.     30 PART 1.: AN OVERVIEW OF THE STATE OF BIOLOGICAL AND LANDSCAPE DIVERSITY IN CROATIA Threats to biological communities in the Adriatic Anthropogenic impacts pose a constant threat to living communities in shallow coastline areas. This primarily refers to building works carried out on the coast, to backfilling and consequential mudding of some parts of the sea, to solid waste disposal and particularly to pollution by unpurified waste waters of municipal and industrial origin. These factors pose threat to living communities of supralittoral and mediolittoral zones, and especially meadows of sea flowers Posidonia oceanica and Zostera marina (Box 27) belonging to communities of the infralittoral zone. A highly intensive process of filling up the coastal sea with diverse building and earthworks wastes is adversely affecting the settlements of various algae of genus Cystoseria, including the settlements of the endemic brown alga Adriatic wrack (Fig. 46) that has almost completely disappeared from some polluted parts of the Adriatic (western coast of Istria, Split, etc.). The degradation of ecological balance of benthonic ecosystems is also a result of excessive fishing for economic and sport reasons, including the ravaging of individual divers. In the shallow sea man particularly threatens the complex communities of photophilous algae and meadows of Posidonia oceanica, while in the depths of the sea the communities of the detrital bottom are most threatened due to consequences of natural stress conditions, and the communities of the muddy bottom due to excessive trawling. The immigration (or introduction) of the tropical green algae Caulerpa in the northern Mediterranean in 1984 represents another threat to biological diversity of the Figure 48.

However, in spite of a long interest encompassing more than a hundred years, numerous gaps remain in our herpetological knowledge. For this reason, the author wished to contribute to a better understanding by performing studies outlined below. Aims The first task was to map the distribution of amphibians and reptiles inhabiting the archipelago as data were lacking for several of the smaller islands and also the fauna of the bigger islands was insufficiently known. Subsequently, the faunistic information derived from the scientific literature and field surveys conducted by the author as well as available geological and paleogeological data were compared and analysed from a zoogeographic point of view. The author wished to identify regions of the islands boasting the greatest herpetofaunal diversity by creating dot maps based on collecting localities. To answer the question which snake species and which individuals are going to be a victim of the traffic snake roadkill and literature survey were used. The author also identified where are the areas where the most snakes are hit by a vehicle on Cres. By gathering road-killed snakes and comparing their locality data with published occurrences the author seeked to identify species most vulnerable to vehicular traffic and road sections posing the greatest threat to snakes on Cres Island.

    Hrvatski jadranski otoci, otočići i hridi Sika od Mondefusta, Palagruţa Mjerenja obale istoĉnog Jadrana imaju povijest; svi autori navode prvi cjelovitiji popis otoka kontraadmirala austougarske mornarice Sobieczkog (Pula, 1911.). Glavni suvremeni izvor dugo je bio odliĉni i dosad još uvijek najsustavniji pregled za cijelu jugoslavensku obalu iz godine 1955. [1955].1 Na osnovi istraţivanja skupine autora, koji su ponovo izmjerili opsege i površine hrvatskih otoka i otoĉića većih od 0,01 km2 [2004],2 u Ministarstvu mora, prometa i infrastrukture je zatim 2007. godine objavljena opseţna nova graĊa, koju sad moramo smatrati referentnom [2007].3 No, i taj pregled je manjkav, ponajprije stoga jer je namijenjen specifiĉnom administrativnom korištenju, a ne »statistici«. Drugi problem svih novijih popisa, barem onih objavljenih, jest taj da ne navode sve najmanje otoĉiće i hridi, iako ulaze u konaĉne brojke.4 Brojka 1244, koja je sada najĉešće u optjecaju, uopće nije dokumentirana.5 Osnovni izvor za naš popis je, dakle, [2007], i u graniĉnim primjerima [2004]. U napomenama ispod tablica navedena su odstupanja od tog izvora. U sljedećem koraku pregled je dopunjen podacima iz [1955], opet s obrazloţenjima ispod crte. Its range and numbers have de- clined drastically at the beginning of the 20th century (BWPi 2006), and the recent breeding population is restricted to four islands of the Kvarner area in northern Adriatic (Cres, Krk, Plavnik, and Prvić). Apart from these major colonies, few occasional nests have been found on the island of Pag and the cliffs of the Velebit Mountain. Its breeding population is currently classified as endangered (EN), and estimated at 100-110 breeding pairs (Tutiš et al. 2013), although some reports indicate the breeding population to be 141 pairs strong (Sušić & Radek 2013). Croatian population of the Griffon Vultures is unique in its breeding habits, as they nest on cliffs directly over the sea, which makes monitoring quite de- manding, as it requires a boat and steady weather conditions. During the breeding season of 2017 field research was conducted in order to assess the number of active breeding pairs in five different colonies in four islands of the Kvarner area (Cres, Krk, Plavnik and Prvić), as well as to assess the number of chicks hatched. First field surveys were conducted from 31st of March to 1st of April during the incubation period (Xirouchakis 2010).

    THE KRK DIOCESE THE ISLES SHALL WAIT FOR HIS TEACHINGS O I R E T S I IN M T I E N IO ORAT FOREWORD The centuries-long presence of Christianity on the islands of the Krk Diocese is deeply rooted in the life and culture of its population, which has been subject to a succession of various social orders during the course of history. Until the year 1828, there were three dioceses within this territory: Krk, Osor and Rab. The presence of a bishop and his relationship with the people had a strong impact upon spiritual formation and identity. The pas- tors of the small dioceses of the Kvarner Islands demonstrated magna- nimity and openness of spirit toward the beautiful and modern, while at the same time listening to the “pulse” of the people, incorporating their language in worship. The beauty of handwritten and illuminated Glagolitic missals, psalters and antiphonals greatly enriched the corpus of liturgical literature traditionally written in Latin. Christian culture, both spiritual and material, is reflected here in the arts of painting, architecture, literature, poetry and music. This is a Church distinguished by its priests and religious, especially the Benedictines and Franciscans, including those with the reputation of saintliness, who have played exceptional historical roles in the raising and fostering of national consciousness, enhancement of the quality of life, education in moral principles, and the creation and safeguarding of the cultural heritage. These values provided a firm foundation for assuring the survival of this nation under changing conditions, not infrequently im- posed by fire and sword.
