ANNUAL REPORT 2018-19

It is my pleasure to place before you the Annual Report on the activities of The Delta Study managed by Delta Schools Society.

The Annual Report is the showcase of the glorious achievements of any institution. Here we present the annual Report of The Delta Study which highlights the great milestones achieved during the year 2018-19.

Academics / Co-curricular Activities:

The academic year commenced on 3rd June for classes KG, I to X and XII, 10th June 2019 for Class XI. President, Mr. A.I. Kurian addressed the staff of the school on the Founder’s Day. The school scored good results both in AISSCE and AISSE. During the 43rd Founder’s Day Celebration, the 27th edition of school magazine “HARMONY” was released. Prizes were also presented to the AISSCE and AISSE toppers and Proficiency winners of the other classes. Centum in Physical Education and Sociology were scored by our students for Class XII AISSCE 2019.

A comparison of the results (AISSCE – Class XII) for the past three years is as follows:

A number of innovative measures were initiated during this academic year including assigning of Class Co-ordinators for Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary levels, cyclic tests on all Mondays for all classes and remedial classes during after school hours. Health and Physical Education for classes IX to XII with the aim of holistic development of the child, leading to a well-balanced individual in all walks of life. Term books for classes I – V to reduce the bag weight were continued. Value based videos were shown during the substitution periods to inculcate values.

To improve team spirit of the students inter-class soft board competitions and inter-house notice board competitions were conducted. Outreach programmes organized for classes VI to X to Karunalayam and Cottelengo to instill humanitarian values. Many students have joined the football coaching classes which are conducted daily from 6.30 am to 7.30 am and in the evening by 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

The Kids Fest for the KG students, the first step to showcase the talents, was introduced during the year 2019.

International Yoga day was celebrated with the performance of various asanas by our students under the guidance of our yoga teacher.

Students of Class XI participated in Beach cleaning under the guidance of Clean Foundation (CFF), took a pledge and cleared plastic.

Students of Class IX and XI attended the CPR training programme organized by the Indian Medical Association at CIAL Convention Centre, Nedumbassery.

The school hosted many events like poster making, paper bag making, speech and cycle rally to create awareness among students and the public to combat the global crisis

The student council was formally inducted on 25th June 2019.

The Delta Study will host the next meeting of the PLAN (Pupil Leaders Action Network) by the leaders of various schools of Cochin namely The Global Public School, The Choice School, RCJPS, Chinmaya Vidyalaya and The Delta Study for the betterment of City of Cochin.

As part of Commerce Club activities, career guidance class was organized on 21.11.2019 for classes XI and XII. Various counseling classes like “Good touch and bad touch” by Team Bodhini, personal hygiene classes for girls of grades V and VI, Sex education classes for class XI were conducted during the academic year.

The Kerala Excise Department gave a talk on the drug campaign for the students of Class XI as part of Vigilance Week.

Our students took part in a cycle rally organized by the Fort Kochi Police and Janamythri Police to celebrate the Anit Drug Day.

To inculcate empathy towards fellow beings, the students were encouraged to collect relief materials for the flood victims.

A musical concert was conducted for our senior students by a band that believes in spreading hopes through motivational life stories.

Motivational talks for the students of Class X and XII were given by various resource persons. A training session on digital classroom, its integrated tools and hardware components were conducted by Teach Next. Orientation Programme for parents clubbed with a workshop on “Art of Parenting” was conducted.

Laurels:

• Our school was selected for the National CBSE Exhibition. • Team Delta won the 3rd prize for Interschool Toc H Soccer Tournament. • In CBSE District Kalolstav our students won prizes in pencil drawing, Bharatanatyam, Folk Dance, Light Music, English Recitation and Extempore • In the ESPERANZA, a competition conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya Kannamaly our school team won the Runner up Trophy. • In the SPIRITUS 2019, a competition conducted by Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidhya Mandhir, Cheppanam, our school team won the First Runners up Trophy. • Our school team was the Runner Up in the interschool competition conducted at Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal. • In Chinmaya Oratory Competition conducted by Chinmaya Vidyalaya Tripunithura Team Delta emerged winners. • In the Toc H Public speaking competition, our school won the First Runners Up.

• Star Search, the interschool competition conducted by St. Paul’s Public School, Fort Kochi, our school won the Runners Up Trophy. • In Rajagiri 360°, Maria Joseph won the 2nd place in Elocution competition. • Onotsavam 2019 organised by Social and Cultural Organization and Tourism Promoters our team won the 1st prize and cash award. • Virali Patel of Class XI won the runners up in doubles badminton tournament conducted by Adarsh Group. • Nishta A Ravel of Class IX won gold medals in District Sports Kalaripayattu Championship 2019. • Team Delta won the 3rd prize in Albertian Education Expo • Aaron Mahesh John of class VII won the 1st place in 68 kgs. Freestyle Wrestling in the District Championship • ICAI Bhavan Debate Competition our students won the second and third prizes • Our student won the second runners up in the elocution competition at Commmerce Champ 2019 • Our chess wizard Shajahan of Class VIII has won various accolades. • Alliance Francais, French recitation competition our student won the 2nd prize • All Kerala Childrens Fest at our students won prizes in folk dance and bharatanatyam.

Inter-School Programmes hosted by The Delta Study:

The 33rd Inter-School Delta Debate was held on 10th October 2019 at the Community Hall, Fort Kochi and Cochin Refineries bagged the Ever Rolling Trophy. The XVIII Paul Joseph Memorial Inter-School Football Tournament was held from 20th to 22nd August 2019 and the Choice School won the finals.

Infrastructure:

• Upgradation of Science Laboratories • 30 latest version All in one PCs were installed in the Junior Computer Lab.

Future Projects:

• Modern washrooms for the academic block • Renovation of Principal’s Quarters • New block for Kindergarten • Play area for Kindergarten • Upgradation of Principal’s and Vice Principal’s room • Three storied building with 18 classrooms with lift system • Technical upgradation of smart classrooms • Renovation of heritage building
