Winners of Vikram Sarabhai Spot Assessment Test were felicitated. Students from our school participated in FRESCO- an inter school cultural competition organized by Rajagiri Christu Jayanthi Public School, Kakkanad and brought laurels. Adithya B Y was adjudged the best artist with first prize in drawing competition. Avaneeth S, Gouri S Dev, Adeeth Manoj bagged second prize for the same event in different categories. The team from our school won the third prize in short film making. Gurupoornima Day was celebrated to express our respect and gratitude for teachers. A “Padapooja” was performed to highlight the bond that existed between a student and the teacher. It served to show that teachers were held in great reverence in our country. Our former teacher Smt. Geetha K. P was honoured as part of the celebrations. Health Check up for all the students from Std. I-XII was held. Smt. Nirmala V K attended a workshop on “Designing Board Question Paper & Career Guidance for Commerce Students” at Logic School of Management. Ms. Anitha Abi & Smt. Deepa P attended a workshop on Python at BVM, Girinagar. To spread the universal message of the victory of dharma over adharma Ramayana Week Celebrations were held. The weekly celebrations was inaugurated by Smt. Radha Madhavan, renowned poet and lyricist. Drawing Competitions, Bhajans, Ramayana Parayanam,Tableau and the Dance Drama- Choodamani Pradanam enriched the one week long celebrations. Smt. Leena Ravi attended a three day training programme on KOHA Software at Kerala University of Fisheries & Ocean Studies. A workshop on “Value Education” was attended by Smt. Sushi P and Smt. C K Vineetha at Bhodanandha Ashram, Silversands, Vytilla. Amrita Vidyalaya ,Edappally conducted a workshop on Data Structures & File Handling. Smt. Girija Pillai & Ms. Anitha Abi attended the same. The toppers of MTSE and Sugama Hindi examination were felicitated during the morning assembly. Kargil Victory Day was commemorated through a speech by Arnold Joseph of Std. X. Our school participated in the EnGuizard 2017 and Master Bharath Krishna & Kumari Bhagya Sadashiv secured the third position in the senior category. Comprehensive Evaluation by Shikshan Bharathi was held. The team lead by Smt. Renuka N Menon observered and evaluated the teaching-learning process of the school. Later a meeting was held.Our Director Sri. E Ramankutty was present. Smt. Renuka N Menon appreciated all the staff members and gave the feedback of the evaluation. Smt. Devi P S, Smt. Resmi K S, Smt. Jayanthi M & Smt. Juby T J attended a workshop on “Early Childhood Education” at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan , T. D Road, Kochi. Our school won the prestigious Mathrubhumi – VKC- Nanma Award for the commendable and virtuous deeds towards the welfare of society around. We received a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/- and a trophy from Sri. Muhammad Haneesh IAS. A few student representatives, Vice Principal Smt. Latha S, the teacher co-ordinators Smt. Dhanya Gopal & Smt. Santhi K S attended the splendid function organized at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir , Elamakkara. Our Director Sri. E Ramankutty was also present. The annual intra school digital competition Pragyan 2017 was conducted. As part of Digital India Celebrations, the Dept. of Computer Science organized various competitions like Quiz, Mobile Gaming, Computer Gaming and MIME for the students of classes VII –XI. Smt. Nirmala V K attended a workshop on ‘Financial Market Management’ at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara. Our school participated in the inter-school dance fest, BUNENTANZ-2017 organized by Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya, Vellore. Students of Std. VI & VII secured second prize in Baile Folklorico. Students of Std. XI presented a skit during the assembly to commemorate the anniversary of Quit India Movement. Sri. Sajith S attended a workshop on ‘Business Studies’ at St. Ann’s Public School , Eloor, Udyogamandal. The Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day were observed with the message of "peace" to recall the tragedy of the fatal bombing in 1945. Lakshmi of Std. XI delivered a speech on the terrible disaster and the after effects of Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombing. Later a video was shown in all classes depicting the sufferings caused by the massive attack. Smt.Sinimol and Smt.Indu P attended a workshop on ‘Human Physiology’ at The Dawn Public School, Palluruthy. To raise awareness that our rivers are depleting and to nurture and nourish them a River Rally Campaign was conducted in our school by ISHA Foundation. A team from ISHA Foundation stressed on the importance of protecting rivers for the future generations. The whole school took an oath to save our rivers. A skit highlighting the theme “re-birth of rivers” was presented by the students. A video was played in all classes on conservation of rivers. Our school football team bagged the Ever Rolling Runners Up trophy of Newsprint Soccer- 2017 at Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya, Vellore. Smt. Mini N and Sri. Mahesh Kumar attended a workshop on “Effective Methods to Enhance Hindi Learning” at Bhavan’s Newsprit Vidyalaya, Vellore. Our school celebrated the 70th Independence Day with an overwhelming zeal of freedom in every one’s heart. Madam Principal unfurled the national flag which evoked a sense of patriotism. Smt. Hamily recollected the efforts taken by the great freedom fighters of India and paid homage to their innumerable contributions which made India free. A spate of activities was conducted as part of Independence Day Celebrations. A freedom quiz was conducted for the students. The school choir enthralled the audience with patriotic songs. A dance performance by Std. XI girls enriched the day. Students participated in various games organized by the Dept. of Social Science. Sanskrit Day was celebrated to mark the significance of Sanskrit language, the mother of all Indian languages. An array of activities was organized by the Dept. of Sanskrit. Aparna of Std. IX recited a Sanskrit poem. A skit portraying the life incidents of Swami Vivekananda was presented during the school assembly. Our Girls’ Volley Ball Team bagged the Second Runners Up position in the Santa Maria Cup 2017 held at Santa Maria Public School & Junior College, Kottayam. On the Malayalam New Year’s Day (Chingam-1),Farmer’s Day was celebrated with much gusto. Many cultural programmes were arranged displaying the richness and festivity of the harvest season. Students and teachers exchanged saplings and organic vegetables to promote greenery. Our non-teaching staff presented a harvest song. Sri. Sajith S, Ms. Anitha Abi & Ms. Priyanka V took part in a seminar on ‘Exciting Journey Through Emerging Frontiers’ at Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal. Smt. Haritha Vikraman and Smt. Devi P S attended a workshop on ‘Methodology and Lesson Planning’at Assisi Vidyaniketan Public School, Chembumukku, Kakkanad , Kochi. Smt. Sreekala P and Smt. Savitri P D attended a workshop on ‘The Significance of Learning Malayalam’ at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara. Smt. Jayasree L and Smt. Deepa Varma attended a workshop in Mathematics organized by KCSSC for senior secondary teachers at Bhavan’s Adarsa Vidyalaya, Kakkanad. Smt. Divya C M and Smt. Alice M T attended an ‘Advanced Craft Workshop’ organized by Pidilite at Hotel Park Centre, Kaloor. Smt. Nancy P Scaria and Smt. Sreerekha U attended a workshop on the ‘Applications of Mathematics in Daily Life’ at Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara. Our students participated in the Ernakulam District Athletic Meet held at M A College, Koothattukulam and secured the following prizes. Nirmala V K attended a workshop on ‘Basics of Accountancy & GST-Accounting Treatment’ at Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara. Smt. Latha S & Smt. Salini V M attended a workshop on “Evolution of Modern Chemistry” organized by KSTS & Institution of Engineers India Cochin Chapter at Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal. KCSSC conducted a workshop for the Senior Secondary teachers of English on ‘Writing Skills and Note Making’ at BMV, Thiruvamkulam. All the staff members attended an informative session on Cryptic Currency, Bio-Mimicry and Mobile Apps by Ms. Anitha Abi, Sri. Sajith and Ms. Priyanka V. All the teachers from Science Dept. attended a workshop on Vice Principal and the teachers from Dept. of Computer Science attended a workshop by Teach Next at BVB, T D Road, Kochi. Smt. Geetha S Prabhu and Smt. Hamily K K attended a workshop on ‘Method, Methodology , Pedagogy & Evaluation’ at Al Ameen Public School , Edappally. A sumptuous Onam lunch was served for all the staff members. All the PTA members, Sri. G V Subramanian, Director, Kolkata Kendra and our Director Sri. E Ramankutty were present. Smt. Girija Pillai attended a workshop on Informatics Practices organized by Sahodaya at Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara. Onam, the festival of peace, happiness and prosperity was celebrated with much traditional fervour and gaiety. Madam Principal conveyed the warm greetings of Onam to all the students and staff members. The home coming of the virtuous and legendary king Mahabali was remembered through various mind blowing cultural programmes. The main attractions of the day were Onappattu by the students and teachers, Thiruvathirakali by teachers, Pulikali, Thumbithullal and Tug of War. PTA played an active role during the conduct of the whole programme and distributed delicious payasam to all the students.
