ABOUT AAU BATON TWIRLING The AAU Baton Twirling Program is a national network for amateur athletes, coaches, judges, and baton twirling enthusiasts dedicated to improving and promoting the sport of baton twirling. Open to athletes from all other twirling organizations, AAU Baton Twirling offers many competition opportunities. The AAU Baton Twirling Rulebook is online at www.aaubaton.org. The AAU Baton Twirling National Championships are held in conjunction with the AAU Junior . Located in Knoxville, Tennessee for 2007, baton competitors must compete and qualify at an AAU District or Regional Championship in each event they wish to be eligible in order to compete at the AAU National Championship. Qualifier information can be found at www.aaubaton.org. If your AAU District does not have a qualifier listed, please contact June Bryan, AAU Baton National Chair, at [email protected]. Future sites for the AAU Junior Olympic Games include the following: 2008 – Detroit, MI; 2009 – Des Moines, IA; 2010 – Hampton Roads, VA; 2011 – New Orleans, LA; 2012 – Knoxville, TN.

AAU MEMBERSHIP To participate in the AAU, all athletes and coaches must be individual members of the AAU. As a member, you can participate in any sport in the AAU. Yearly youth athlete membership is $12 per athlete. Yearly non-athlete (coach, volunteer, official) membership is $14. You may purchase either a one, two, or three year membership. AAU members are covered with secondary sports liability and accident insurance. For an additional $2, participants can become an Added Benefit member which extends coverage when participating in non-AAU sanctioned events. To become a member, you can register instantly online at www.aausports.org or complete and submit the AAU Membership Application form to your local AAU District Office. By registering online, you will instantly be able to print your own membership card and start participating immediately! Be sure to register as a club first, so you can enter your club code when registering individuals. Individual membership is valid September 1 to August 31.
