Por Tracy Wong Contemporary dance is a unique genre of dance, though not so popular. The sheer possibility of diferent readings and interpretations creates an invisible barrier but also gives it a greater charm. We have selected quality and inspiring works from around the world, while discovering new talents in contemporary dance in Macao. We look forward to bringing contemporary dance to a wider public, creating an accessible dance platform to present our younger generation’s take on this contemporary art form. 9-13/1 By Tracy Wong Festival Fringe da Cidade de Macau Macao City Fringe Festival 慍Ꟍ㙹䋑谁琝眏 ⽰䌏罜⡲⽰䌏饱莻僽♧珏⽰儘涸邍怵溫㻜邍麨莅ꅼ 㖈㖒ЭЭ䘰Ꟑ⽰莇 佞♶「儘꟦瑠꟦⚺겗䠑纏瘞ꣳⵖ涸荈歋莻骪㸐 On Site – 尝竤麕瘼ⷔ莅管䱖ꦑ䗱ꦑ䠑罜莻〳腋ꦑ儘ꦑ㖒㽠㖈 ⡹魨鼹㖈♶暶㹁涸㖒럊莅儘꟦鹎遤♧㜥շ䘰Ꟑ⽰莇ո ImprovFlashMob 尝剤갸鏤尝剤ꣳⵖ A improvisação na dança é a criação espontânea # # Dança, Teatro Físico # Dance, Physical Theatre 莻骪䕎넓 de movimento no próprio momento, sem qualquer ensaio ou coreografia. CULTURE AND SPORT Culture and Sport Eastern and western cultures have co-existed in Macao for over 400 years. A wide variety of cultural traditions, languages, values, religious beliefs, and customs have all existed side by side and influenced one another. Out of this melting pot, a regional culture unique to Macao has gradually developed into its present richness. Macao’s culture is thus a diverse mixture, with traditional Chinese culture as its heart, and it has assimilated Western, particularly Portuguese, cultural influences in perfect harmony. Following its policy of promoting Chinese culture while preserving the unique pluralistic cultural heritage of Macao, the Government has hosted various cultural and artistic activities invited art troupes from mainland China and overseas, as well as Macao, to perform. These have created opportunities for audiences to learn more about the history, society, and culture of different regions, as well as enhancing cultural exchange and the quality of cultural life of Macao’s residents. Cultural Affairs Bureau The Cultural Affairs Bureau is a Government department that sets out the Government’s key objectives in cultural matters. The bureau is responsible for protecting cultural heritage, giving guidance on aesthetic appreciation, supporting community organisations, nurturing talent in arts and culture, developing local cultural industries, as well as organising cultural entertainment programmes, such as concerts, exhibitions, seminars, music classes, dance, drama courses, Macao International Parade, Macao International Music Festival, Macao Arts Festival, Macao City Fringe Festival, China Cultural Heritage Day, Macao Youth Music Competition and Macao Annual Visual Arts Exhibition. It also provides subsidies for different cultural and art programmes as well as scholarships to support the publication of research and advanced studies about arts.
