This massive, comprehensive volume is the first to give the reader a definitive description of this neglected bomber, its development, testing, and manufacture. The role of the enigmatic aviation icon Glenn L. Martin is described in the development of the American aviation industry and the Marauder. The author made extensive use of the massive document and photo collections of the Marauder Archives at Akron and Tucson, and the Air Force collection at the NMUSAF. Martin Company design and production information and flight and test evaluations, along with original Company Flight, Parts, and Maintenance Manuals, and rare archival microfilm of original material were also used. The author was given unprecedented access to the family records of B-26 designer Peyton Magruder. The text is complemented by archival photos and drawings, and new color photos of the Marauders at the NMUSAF, Fantasy of Flight, and MAPS Museum.

  • Aircraft Profiles Were Created Originally for Still-To- Be Completed Books on the RAF and the Fleet Air Arm During the Second World War
This page intentionally left blank PREFACE his document has been created to illustrate my interest in the Second World War and of what can be achieved in the Adobe Creative Suite. All design and layout was accomplished within Adobe InDesign CS2; the artwork using Photoshop 7.0. While this volume is constricted to the aircraft of the Second TWorld War, a topic chosen for its relative diversity. The aircraft of that conflict sported colors and schemes of a variety and aesthetic beauty rarely matched since. Despite its martial bearing, this subject also lends itself to illustrating the cultural bearing of nations at the time. In many instances, the heraldry and badges carried are displayed next to the respective craft. In the case of the British, each of these official unit badges had to be personally approved by the sovereign of that age, and in the following examples, either by King George V or King George VI. Many of these badges represent traditions, past history or take their colors from a local coat of arms. Not only did this link a specific unit to the place of its inception, but served to impart an esprit de corps on its serving men and women. Much of this work could not have been composed without Barry C. Wheeler’s seminal Guide to Military Aircraft Markings, which sparked my interest in aircraft camouflage, coloring and more importantly, squadrons. Most of the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy aircraft profiles were created originally for still-to- be completed books on the RAF and the Fleet Air Arm during the Second World War.

KING & COUNTRY “DISPATCHES” JUNE 2012 As JUNE APPROACHES I’m getting ready to leave for San Antonio and the “Texas 2012 Toy Soldier Show”… By the time you read these notes the show will be over and I’ll be on my way back home to Hong Kong… Such is life! Anyway here goes with the latest… 1. FOR RELEASE IN JUNE… A .“Lawrence of Arabia” One of my personal all-time favourite movies is David Lean’s epic “Lawrence of Arabia” starring Peter O’Toole, Omar Sharif, Alec Guinness and Jack Hawkins. Since I first saw it almost 50 years ago I’ve been fascinated and enthralled by the colour and spectacle of the movie and the tale it told. A couple of years ago, not long after K&C started work on our Australian Light Horse range, I decided that we should try and extend our interest in the First World War in the Middle East to include “Lawrence” and the Arab Revolt. Well, here are the first two pieces… LOA001 “Lieut. T.E. Lawrence” In the movie, when Lawrence journeys into the desert for the first time he is still dressed in regular British Army tropical uniform. He has however exchanged his service cap for the much more sensible Arab headdress. Here he is mounted on a superbly detailed and colourful camel. LOA002 “Sherif Ali” Played in the film by Omar Sharif Lawrence encounters the dramatic black-clad figure of Sherif Ali ibn el Kharish, one of Prince Feisal’s most trusted lieutenants. Sherif Ali sits atop his equally detailed camel, a Lee Enfield rifle resting across his lap.

  • Focke Wulf 152 H 114 Inches (2.89M) Plan (Other 42” Wing Span Plan Included)
Focke Wulf 152 H 114 Inches (2.89m) Plan (Other 42” Wing Span Plan Included) The Focke-Wulf Ta 152 was a World War II German high-altitude fighter-interceptor designed by Kurt Tank and produced by Focke-Wulf. The Ta 152 was a development of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 aircraft. It was intended to be made in at least three versions—the Ta 152H Höhenjäger ("high-altitude fighter"), the Ta 152C designed for medium-altitude operations and ground-attack using a different engine and smaller wing, and the Ta 152E fighter-reconnaissance aircraft with the engine of the H model and the wing of the C model. Focke Wulf 152 H 114 Inches (2.89m) Plan (Other 42” Wing Span Plan Included) The first Ta 152H entered service with the Luftwaffe in January 1945. While total production—including prototypes and pre-production aircraft—has been incorrectly estimated in one source at approximately 220 units,[2] only some 43 production aircraft were ever delivered before the end of the European conflict.[1] These were too few to allow the Ta 152 to make a significant impact on the air war. Design and development Due to the difficulties German interceptors were having when battling American heavy bombers at altitudes above 20,000 feet, and in light of rumors of new B-29 bombers with better altitude capabilities, the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (German Air Ministry, or "RLM") requested proposals from both Focke-Wulf and Messerschmitt for a high-altitude interceptor. Messerschmitt answered with the Bf 109H, and Focke-Wulf with the Fw 190 Raffat-1, or Ra-1 (fighter), Ra-2 (high altitude fighter) and Ra-3 (ground-attack aircraft).
