Kalevi Kiviniemi (b. 1958) is one of Finland’s most internationally-recognized and critically-acclaimed musicians. After earning a concert diploma at the in Helsinki, he launched his international performance career in the early 1990’s throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and the U.S. From 1991 - 2001, he was the artistic director of the Organ Festival. He has taught master classes and served on numerous international organ Jean Sibelius juries. th Kiviniemi’s discography numbers more than 150 titles, 150 Anniversary Concert which have sold more than a quarter million copies. He has received gold records for recordings in 1993, 2000, and 2003; a platinum record in 2003; the 2003 Janne Prize for the best Finnish solo disc Guest Recital at the Sibelius Festival in Lahti; and the 1999 Star Recording Prize from The Organ magazine. In 2004, Kiviniemi was given the Organum Society award for services to Finnish organ music. In 2009, he received Finland’s Jukka Pietilä, baritone State Prize for Music, the country’s most coveted music award, for Kalevi Kiviniemi, organ lifelong achievements in music. Kiviniemi is known for performing a variety of musical styles, including collaborating with a percussionist, guitarist, and vocalist in a program titled “Crossover Organ”, performing arrangements from the traditional to the contemporary. Since 2003, Kiviniemi has been recording OrganEra, a series with Fuga Music that has featured performances on organs around the world, illustrating the different eras, cultures, and styles of the instrument.

This Kalevi Kiviniemi, organ year, Kiviniemi and Pietilä will present concerts of all of Sibelius’s music as part of the jubilee year celebrating the 150th anniversary of Jean Sibelius’ De trenne blinda systrar Jean Sibelius birth. This is their initial tour performing together in the United States. He is also an accomplished baritone soloist and performer. He Kalevi Kiviniemi, organ earned a Bachelor of Music degree in church music and vocal performance

from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in 1987. Since then he has toured Fantasia in c minor, BWV 562 Johann Sebastian Bach through Finland, Estonia, Hungary, Switzerland, and the U.S. in a solo (1685-1750) career. Pietilä has recorded four CDs; the last two jointly with Kalevi Variazioni per organo (2014) Kiviniemi. U.S. Premiere (b. 1935) Pietilä has directed several men’s choirs and the Turku Cathedral Choir. From 2007-2014 he served as chair of the Turku cantors. In 2003 Barcarolle Sibelius the title of Director Cantus was bestowed upon Pietilä by the archbishop Kalevi Kiviniemi, organ of Finland.
