Mais trois nouvelles voies d'accès sont créées pour tenir compte de la diversification des profils... que va accentuer la réforme du bac. Né en 2018 de la fusion du concours Puissance 11 et du concours Alpha, Puissance Alpha fait la démonstration, comme d'autres banques d'épreuves, du succès des concours communs qui simplifient grandement les candidatures des bacheliers sur Parcoursup. Choisir le concours Puissance Alpha ne représente en effet qu'un vœu sur les dix autorisés par Parcoursup, mais celui-ci permet, si l'on prépare un bac S, de postuler en "sous-vœux" dans 16 écoles offrant 50 programmes sur 27 campus... et de ne passer qu'un concours écrit, le 25 avril en 2020. Ce large choix a attiré 54% de candidats en plus sur deux ans, avec une croissance de 23% du taux d'intégration dans les écoles sur la même période. Une croissance des candidats n'ayant pas un bac S Les bacheliers scientifiques forment évidemment les gros bataillons de ces candidats, puisque près de 4000 places sur 4500 leur sont réservées en 2020.
