A solid basis for gradual overcoming of the problem was set by ratification of the Framework Agreement on the Sava River Basin in December 2004, and by establishment of the International Sava River Basin Commission (Sava Commission) in June 2005. According to the Framework Agreement, the strategic objective of the Sava Commission is coordination of cooperation among the Sava countries in the water sector, with aim to provide conditions for sustainable development of the basin.
