Operation TIDE
Tunnel Intrusion Detection Exercise • I90 High Occupancy Vehicle Tunnel Table Top - October 2015
• Protesters stop traffic, utilizing a box truck to temporarily block traffic while forming a human chain across the I90 tunnel. One protester is struck by a vehicle and motorists begin assaulting the protesters before Law Enforcement arrives on scene. Real World Events
On May 12, 2016, the I93 SB O’Neill Tunnel near Exit 23 experienced a major incident in which a garbage truck caught fire. This forced the shut-down of I-93 Southbound in Boston, Massachusetts. The incident extended for approximately 5 hours in duration. Real World Events
Good levels of communication and cooperation between MassDOT and response agencies. All ventilation systems performed well. MSP, HOC, and BFD all coordinated well to execute contraflow maneuvers. Provide a real world environment to enhance training between all first responders. Support ongoing Orientation Sessions with new First Responders. Ongoing Training and Exercises
