Press Release
Press Release Stockholm October 7, 2014 SCA’s Hygiene Matters 2014 consumer survey; Continued global need for increased access to hygiene products and knowledge Hygiene Matters 2014 is the fourth global consumer survey commissioned by leading global hygiene and forest products company SCA. The aim is to raise awareness among decision makers, experts and the general public globally, of the connection between hygiene, health and wellbeing. SCA also aims to contribute to a more knowledge-based public dialogue that strengthens the possibility of improved hygiene for women, men and children everywhere. The theme of Hygiene Matters 2014 has been “Women and Hygiene”. SCA aims to make a difference to people’s everyday life by providing sustainable personal care, tissue and forest products under many strong brands such as TENA, Tork, Libero, Libresse, Lotus, Nosotras, Saba, Tempo and Vinda. The 2014 Hygiene Matters survey results reinforce SCA’s determination to work even harder to meet women’s needs and desires when it comes to personal and intimate hygiene for themselves and their families. The Hygiene Matters 2014 consumer survey clearly shows that there are still unmet needs among women globally both when it comes to hygiene products and solutions, as well as raising knowledge about personal hygiene that could help combat taboos. “This year’s Hygiene Matters survey results show that SCA’s work is relevant and there is still a lot to do for women’s access to hygiene products and solutions, and explaining the close link between hygiene and health. About 80 percent of SCA’s consumers are women. -

Russian Intelligentsia at the Crossroads* by Dmitri N. Shalin In
Russian Intelligentsia at the Crossroads* By Dmitri N. Shalin In 57 B.C.E., Marcus Tullius Cicero, a Roman consul and leading public intellectual, ran into heavy political headwinds. After turning down Caesar’s invitation to join the antirepublican forces, he was driven into exile where he brooded about the duty he owed to himself, his family and his country. In a letter to his friend Atticus, Cicero outlined the stark moral choices committed citizens face when the fate of the republic hangs in the balance. The question is “Whether one should remain in one’s country, even under a tyranny. Whether any means are lawful to abolish a tyranny, even if they endanger the existence of the State. Whether one ought to take care that one who tries to abolish it may not rise too high himself. Whether one ought to assist one’s country, when under a tyranny, by seizing the opportunities and by arguments rather than by war . Whether one who has done good service for his country, and by it won ill-treatment and envy, should voluntarily put himself into danger for that country, or may at length take thought for himself and his dear ones and avoid struggles against the powers that be.” Caesar’s Rome and Putin’s Russia are vastly different polities, yet the dilemmas Russian intellectuals and political activists face nowadays bear more than a fleeting resemblance to those that ultimately cost Cicero his life. Ever since the collapse of the Soviet Union, emigration has been on its citizens’ minds. An estimated 10 million Russians left the country since the mid-1990s. -

Amidst the mass coordinated execution of Jews the entire family of a 6-year-old Anna dies. Her mother covers Anna up with her own body, and the girl miraculously survives. She hides in the disused chimney in the Nazi commander’s office - without food or water, in solitude and fear. So begins a story of the struggle for life that lasts for over two years. So begins this story of the struggle for life, of fighting against the huge and terrifying world of adults. The story of a war in which a little Jewish girl prevails. Anna’s War has been financed through private funding only. DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT A little Jewish girl and the Second World War. One and only hero. Cinematic space is limited to the insides of a fireplace, and the geography of events is limited to the classroom of a village school that had been turned into a Nazi commandant’s office. Inside the fireplace the girl finds a safe place where she makes a nest for herself. A home. Outside is an insane world of adults. We see it’s reflection in a bubbly amalgam on the old mirror. -

Dovlatov is the new film by Alexey German Jr. (Silver Bear for Under Electric Clouds, Silver Lion for Paper Soldier) who for the first time turns his camera on his hometown, ‘70s Leningrad (St. Petersburg) to portray the lives of young Soviet writers Sergei Dovlatov, Joseph Brodsky and other repressed artists in the ‘70s. Logline Dovlatov charts six days in the life of the brilliant, ironic writer Sergei Dovlatov who saw far beyond the rigid limits of 70s Soviet Russia. Together with his friend and poet Joseph, he fought preserve his own talent and integrity while seeing their artist friends getting crushed by the iron-willed state machinery, which they would later escape by emigrating to New York, losing all they had back home. Dovlatov - by Alexey German Jr. Page 2 / 14 Director Alexey German Jr “I got to read Dovlatov very late in life – when I was 26 or 27 – but all in one sitting. Back then I already thought that it would be great to make a film about him, but for almost 15 years I could not figure out how.
