Joey’s celebrates 30 years serving ’s favourite Fish & Chips

Calgary, AB. – Joey’s Seafood Restaurants, Canada’s largest seafood chain, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2015. Joey’s will celebrate this milestone by offering a variety of 30th anniversary events and promotions throughout the year.

Their feature menu design is reverting back to 1985 with a bi-fold unlaminated look meant to offer a touch of nostalgia for long-time customers. The story of Joey’s is told in phases in each monthly menu.

Joey’s “Join the Party” Monthly Giveaway presents customers a contest card with a unique code that will enter them into a monthly contest ($1000 prize giveaway). Each non-winning entry will be re-entered into their “30 Days of Joey's” daily giveaway in December.

The fun begins with Joey’s annual January Gift to You Promotion. Customers have the ability to win 1 of 30 prizes including a Nexus 7 Tablet, a GoPro Hero digital camera and $1000 Cash.

During the summer months, they will be holding a Roadtrip Contest. A cool 1985 muscle car will be given away as part of the contest and the car will be travelling across Canada documenting the 30th anniversary promotion.

30 Days of Joey's is the culmination of their year of celebration! Each day of December, a winner will be selected from entries received throughout the year from their 30th Anniversary Monthly Giveaway. Smart watches, Smart Phones, Tablets, Go-Pros, Cash, Portable Speaker systems will be the types of prizes available.

The idea for Joey’s was fittingly planted in Joe Klassen's future aboard , BC’s lake paddle wheeler, the Fintry Queen.

As a 14 year old, Joe worked alongside two sisters as a dishwasher and prep cook and helped put on a weekend dinner cruise seafood buffet. Seeing the happy customers on deck, under the stars, out on the lake after dinner, started him thinking.

Fast forward five years, a newly married Joe was painting houses in and he and Teresa decided the time was right to bring seafood to the city. With recipe help from his family, the Joey's Fish and Chips recipe was born and the first Joey's opened September, 1985. Many customers still remember the line ups on 17th Ave SW. Incidentally, Joe's restaurant was one of the very first in the city to serve Big Rock beer, also born that same year.
