1 2 OUR EXTERIOR IS BEAUTY AND CALM, OUR INTERIOR IS DISCIPLINE AND FEROCIOUS FIREPOWER. - JEFF FULLER, FOUNDER 3 4 ABOUT In 1992, Jef Fuller introduced a new restaurant concept simply titled JOEY Tomato’s Kitchen. The initial casual Italian concept proved to be successful, however Jef knew that he could develop concept further and fuel its growth. Thus the revamp of the “JOEY Restaurant Concept” was born. Jef saw an opportunity to grow the JOEY Restaurant Group by adding two additional concepts; LOCAL a pub-cen- tric eatery and Saltlik, a contemporary steakhouse. As President and CEO of JOEY Jef Fuller has lead the way for locations in Van- couver, Coquitlam, Kelowna, Edmonton Calgary Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Seattle and Bellevue, Washington. In 2015 we will be entering the L.A. market. At latest count the chain ofers 25 locations under the JOEY banner, seven under the LOCAL brand along with two under the Saltlik Steakhouse banner. When Jef looks around his new locations he can say without a doubt, “this is a place that I would want to eat at” and his customers concur. In his career Jef has been recognized for his pioneering eforts and has received prestigious awards includ- ing the Newsmaker of the Year by Canadian Association of Food Service Professionals and Pacific Prairie Magazine. In the fall of 2006, Fuller won the Ernst & Young Pacific Entrepreneur of the Year award in the Hospitality/Tourism category and is a member of the Young Presidents Organization. 5 6 CHRIS MILLS EXECUTIVE CHEF Executive Chef Chris Mills brings a wealth of culinary experience and a globally inspired vision to the JOEY Restaurant Group and its brands: JOEY Restaurant, Saltlik and LOCAL Public Eatery. After working as a consultant to the JOEY Restaurant Group, Chris joined the team full-time in 2004 as Executive Chef. His extensive travels throughout Europe, Asia and the Pacific Rim have enabled him to create a menu of classic dishes with a global twist. Recently Chris was honoured with an invitation to be a stagiaire at London’s prestigious River Café. Chris has received countless accolades and awards during his career. He was invited to be a Guest Chef at the James Beard House in New York City in 2006 and again in 2010, and was one of only two Canadian chefs ever to com- pete on the original Japanese Iron Chef in Tokyo. In 2006 Chris placed fifth in the world in the Bocuse d’Or culinary competition, while his journey was captured in a three-part docu- mentary that was broadcast on the Food Net- work. Chris’ global inspirations from his travels abroad combined with his crowning achievements pro- vide the strong foundation that drives the Salt- lik menu; regularly introducing new tastes, products and ideas. 7 8 9 10 Since 2011 the five latest JOEY locations were introduced. They included Toron-to Eaton Centre, Yorkdale Shopping Centre in North York, Markville in the GTA, University Village in Seattle and Lansdowne Park in Ottawa. JOEY opened their Toronto Eaton Centre location in July 2011. As the second Ontario location, JOEY Eaton Centre followed the immense success of JOEY at the Shops at Don Mills. The globally inspired menu was an instant draw and with over 10,000 square feet of dining space it was built to accommodate. The overall size of the restaurant gave our in-house design team an opportunity to create separate spaces that blend into one breathtaking restaurant. The street-side patio ofered the perfect setting for after-work cocktails, while the large indoor mezzanine provided an intimate setting for dinner. The location features the JOEY flagship Private Dining Room that can host intimate groups of 10 to celebrations of 125. Ofering globally inspired artisan-made dishes, handcrafted cocktails and award winning wines selected by our restaurant Sommelier it was instantly successful. 11 12 13 14 JOEY Yorkdale opened November 2012 and is located at one of the largest malls in Canada and has one of the highest gross- ing sales per square foot. Being at the heart of one of the main transit system hubs, the Yorkdale Shopping Centre draws approximately 400,000 customers per week. JOEY Yorkdale was selected by Oxford Properties Group as the anchor restaurant for their $185 million expansion. JOEY Restaurant Group partnered with Olson Kundig Architects, an award-winning firm, from Seattle, Washington to develop the exterior concept for the restaurant. Olson Kundig worked with the internal design team to create a stunning exterior façade that included a 40’ tall steel drum anchored ontop of the revolving door and a counterweight pulley system that opens up the entire storefront to the sidewalk. The layout of the restaurant is designed to encourage a social experience, by ensuring that every seat is the best one in the house. The lower level sits the main bar with a raised lounge area, while the upper has the main dining area connected to an open concept kitchen. A variety of natural materials are used in the space including hardwoods, brick, granite and rich Italian leathers giving it an eclectic yet comfortable feel. 15 16 17 18 JOEY Markville followed the Yorkdale location opening in November 2013. It is the fourth location in the Greater Toronto Area. Like JOEY Yorkdale, the JOEY Markville is located in a central shopping centre and hub – the Markville Mall and with Cadillac Fairview’s $110 million renovation it has made the area a hot spot. JOEY Markville introduced stunning new design elements to the area that drew immediate interest. The single level floor plan totals 8,125 square feet of interior space and 1,950 square feet of outdoor patio space. JOEY Markville is one of four restaurants in the space and exceeds the sales of the local competition. 19 20 21 22 JOEY University Village opened December 2013 and was selected to be anchor restaurant for the expansion project happening at the time. University Village sees over 14 million shoppers per year and has a selection of notable retail brands and is home to outdoor summer events. JOEY once again worked with Olson Kundig Architects to design the 145 seat, open room concept that showcases a central bar surrounded by social seating. JOEY University Village became the flagship location for the US and features a test kitchen where menu items are created and featured on an exclusive menu. If they receive positive feedback they are then brought to the other JOEY US locations including JOEY Bellevue and JOEY South Centre both in Washington. These two locations have both seen great success being locat- ed in bustling shopping centres. 23 24 For the first time Joey and Local will be side-by-side. The revitalized Lansdowne builds on its past tradi- tions as a significant gathering place for many activities and events to include the development of a new urban Park that re-integrates the site with the canal and positions the site’s two remaining heritage buildings as focal elements to the site both visually and functionally. As well, the new Lansdowne includes a refurbished and iconic new stadium complex that itself will be a new landmark. The park wraps around and embraces the stadium at its southern edge, encouraging pedestrians to walk through the wooden outer veil to the western entrance plaza and on to the Bank Street Bridge. The stadium will have a gener- ous pedestrian concourse, uniting the North and South stands into one stadium. The concourse will wrap around the stadium, merging with the front lawn and continuing along Bank Street. The revitalization also positions the site for today and the future as an integral element of the urban fabric with a new urban village that will logically and naturally integrate with the adjacent urban fabric, the park and the stadium. The design will ensure on-going activity and encourage people to move throughout, explore and once again, reconnect to Lansdowne; which will once again be one of the city’s most important urban places defining Ottawa as a city. 25 26 We are excited to announce our expansion into the Southern California market, where we will be opening Nestled between two existing Westfield properties, Topanga and Promenade Shopping Mall, The Village a JOEY restaurant in The Village at Topanga.
