STUDENT CAREER EVENT 2017 GET TO KNOW OUR PANELISTS Matt Armstrong is a broadly experienced urban planner currently working in the Strategic Initiatives Unit in the City Planning Division for the City of Toronto. Some of his projects include supporting and leveraging transit investment (Keele Finch Plus, Eglinton Connects), urban design guidelines, Tower Renewal, the Official Plan Review, and evidence-based design in public spaces. Matt has worked for two public bodies, two private firms, and completed commissions working independently. Joshua Butcher is a Planner at Bousfields with a broad range of experience in land use planning, development approvals, and feasibility analysis. He has experience working with private and public sector clients on a wide variety of projects ranging from mid-rise residential developments to large-scale institutional projects proceeding through Infrastructure Ontario’s Public Private Partnership process. Joshua cares deeply about responsibly advancing the land use planning and real estate development profession and currently sits on ULI’s Connect Committee. He also sits on the UWPAT Committee, which raises money for the University of Waterloo’s School of Planning through their Annual Dinner. During his free time, you’ll find Joshua roaming around the city on his bicycle, even in the dead of winter. Bader Elkhatib joined the CentreCourt team in 2017 and is responsible for acquisition underwriting, sales and development. Prior to joining CentreCourt, Bader worked as an Investment Associate for Tricon Capital Group, a real estate private equity firm, in Toronto and in investment banking at CIBC Capital Markets. Bader holds an Honors Business Administration (HBA) degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario where he graduated with Distinction. Michael Peiser is the Director of Development at Cadillac Fairview. He manages retail development projects in Toronto, Winnipeg, and previously Vancouver and has worked on the transformational projects of Sherway Gardens, Polo Park, Richmond Centre and Markville Mall. Michael’s projects focus on the repositioning of enclosed malls to both accommodate best-in-class retailers and revitalize customer experience. Prior to joining Cadillac Fairview, Michael spent 5 years in Northern Ireland working for Parking Green International, a leading Irish developer with projects in Ireland, UK, Slovakia, Czech Republic and the USA. Michael previously served on the ULI Europe Young Leader Steering Committee, and is active with the ICSC and ULI in Toronto. He is a native of Boston, earned his BA in Psychology from Bowdoin College (Maine) and MSc International Real Estate from the University Jordana Ross is the Director of Planning and Development at non-profit affordable ownership housing developer, Options for Homes. Options has a pipeline of roughly nine projects in various stages of predevelopment and construction, and is a leading advocate for the support of affordable housing by all levels of government. With over twelve years of experience, Jordana’s first exposure to urban development and municipal decision-making was as an aide to a downtown Toronto Councillor. After working briefly in the consulting sector, Jordana then joined Toronto Community Housing where she worked with the tenant community and JV partners on various social housing redevelopments, working to leverage the value of underutilized public assets to address affordable housing needs. Jordana then moved to Infrastructure Ontario, as part of a small team tasked with provincial development initiatives and high-value dispositions, including the LCBO head office lands on theToronto Waterfront. Connect with ULI Toronto #ULIcareers Jason Shedletsky is the Director of Investments at Graywood Developments. He is responsible for sourcing, evaluating and completing the acquisition of new properties for development. Jason has 13 years of real estate investment, development and finance experience in residential and commercial properties in both Canada and the United States. During his career Jason has completed transactions and financings totaling over $2.0 billion. Prior to joining Graywood, Jason held various investment and finance roles for two private development managers, a large global real estate advisor and a large Canadian REIT. Jason holds a Master of Science Degree in Real Estate Development from New York University and an Honors Business Administration degree from the Richard lvey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Stefanie Siu Chong is an Associate at Quadrangle Architects in Toronto where she leads the design and delivery of high-rise and mid-rise mixed-use development in the GTA. Her work at Quadrangle includes 50 Wellesley, a 37-storey tower that sensitively responds to nearby parkland; 150 Eglinton, a mixed-use complex comprised of a 39-storey residential tower set on a commercial and retail podium; and 30 Widmer, a 48-storey residential tower and hotel in Downtown Toronto. Previously at Cornish Architects in London (UK) she was an Associate and Project Architect for a diverse range of projects including residential, retail, commercial and industrial projects which include high rise, low rise, mixed-use, heritage conversion, refurbishment and urban infill. Stephanie graduated from the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, UK in 2005 and is a licensed Architect in the UK and Canada. Brianna Van Der Mark is a Consultant at CBRE, responsible for supporting Workplace Strategy initiatives in Eastern Canada. She is passionate about Workplace Strategy and the intrinsic benefit and value that a company’s real estate solution can have on employees. Her deep knowledge of the commercial real estate market coupled with her interest in understanding the people behind the organization enables her to implement creative solutions to improve upon existing real estate. With eight years of experience in commercial real estate, Brianna has a demonstrated track record of developing and managing client relationships and leverages her experience and level of professionalism to service clients. With her entrepreneurial spirit, she challenges the status quo to gain a deep understanding of what makes an organization successful, driving immense strategic and financial valuefor her clients. Eunice Wong is a Senior Associate/Manager in the Transaction Real Estate practice at Ernst & Young Orenda Corporate Finance Inc. where she provides strategic real estate advisory services to private and public sector clients. Eunice has 8 years of commercial real estate experience, specializing in complex real estate valuations of various asset types across Canada. Eunice holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from York University’s Schulich School of Business. She is currently a Candidate Member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada, pursuing the AACI designation. Based in the Toronto office, Eunice has a broad finance and real estate background that has involved portfolio and asset level strategies, due diligence, valuations, transaction structuring, and other consulting assignments. Prior to joining EY five years ago, Eunice started her real estate career at Colliers International. Nadia Yen is a licensed Professional Engineer who currently works with First Gulf as the Director of Green Development. To date, her professional career has included the following: working as an environmental consultant, leading sustainability and process optimization investigations for the food and beverage industry, and more recently, working in real estate leading large-scale construction projects while concurrently investigating and implementing sustainability initiatives. Within her current role with First Gulf, her focus is leading the green development for the East Harbour master plan..
