That moved Wall to the top of the list as the winningest goalie in UMass Lowell’s Division I history. Dwayne Roloson had held the record, at 51, since wrapping up his colle- giate career in 1994. Marty Fillion who’s playing days ended in 1998 is now third with 50 career wins. Wall has now upped his win total to 57. 94 AND COUNTING: UMass Lowell’s visit January 10th and 11th to the Gene Polisseni Center in Rochester, a building that opened for business during the 2014-15 season, pushed the number of buildings in which UMass Lowell has played hockey to at least 94. Visits last season to Bentley and Colgate pushed the number to 92 and 93. The long list includes stops stretching from Alaska to Belfast, Northern Ireland and from Arizona to Maine. EXTRA TIME: Nine of the River Hawks 33 games have gone into overtime. That equals the school record. The most overtime games that the River Hawks have played in a year is nine. That’s now happened four times. The most recent was during the 2015- 16 season when the club went 3-1-5 in overtime. UMass Lowell is 2-1-6 in overtime this season. OT AGAIN: UMass Lowell has played nine overtime games this season, only seven teams have played overtime more often. Bowl- ing Green has played in the greatest number; twelve. Six other teams have played in ten or more. FIT TO BE TIED: The February 28th 2-2 tie with New Hampshire was the River Hawks sixth tie of the season. That is sixth in the nation. UMass Lowell is one of 13 teams with six or more ties on their record. Only Boston University and Colgate have eight. A RED LIGHT AT THE END OF THE OT TUNNEL: The long wait is over. UMass Lowell finally won an overtime game when it de- feated Providence 3-2, October 26, with a goal from Carl Berglund at the 4:20 mark of overtime. The win ended a streak of 13 overtime games (0-6-7) without a win. It had been 645-days since the River Hawks defeated Vermont 3-2 in overtime, on a Connor Wilson goal, January 19, 2018. The hockey club had been held off the score sheet for some 78-minutes and 22-seconds of overtime hockey. BONUS TIME - NO BONUS: Overtime has not been kind to UMass Lowell over the last three seasons, but that may very well be changing. The River Hawks are 3-10-13 in their last 26 overtime games (0-2-5 last season) dating back to the start of the 2016-17 season. The three wins have come against Vermont in January, 2018, Providence October 26 and Penn State on November 30. The Providence win ended a 13 game (0-6-7) overtime winless stretch. Their longest winless OT streak is 18 games running from January 21, 2006 through January 11, 2008. UMass Lowell is 2-0-6 in its last eight overtime games. March 6th in UMass Lowell Hockey History

Record on March 6: 2-3-1 .471

1992 – Sixth-seeded UMass Lowell is blanked 7-0 by third-seeded Providence in the quarterfinals of the Hockey East Tournament at Schneider Arena in Providence. The River Hawks finish the season 11-19-4, the first time in school history the hockey team has suffered through four consecutive losing seasons. Coupled with a 4-0 loss to New Hampshire in the last game of the regular season, it marks the first time in Lowell’s 25-year history it has been shut out in back-to-back games. 2004 – Needing a victory to finish in sixth place in Hockey East, UMass Lowell edges Providence 4-3 in Providence on sophomore Mark Pandolfo’s second goal of the third period with 1:50 left to play in regulation. Junior Chris Davidson makes 40 saves in goal. The River Hawks finish with a 7-12-5 league record but would have finished fourth – and gotten home ice for only the sixth time in the league’s 20-year history – with a 10-9-5 record had they not been compelled to forfeit three league wins for using an ineligible player. 2010 – UMass Lowell skates to a 1-1 tie with 16th ranked Vermont at the Tsongas Center and finishes in a three-way tie for third place in Hockey East with Maine and Boston University. Because Maine and BU won their season’s series from the River Hawks, UML is seeded fifth in the Hockey East Tournament and has to play the best-of-three first round series on the road at Maine. 2017 – For the second consecutive week, UMass Lowell, with a 22-9-3 record, is ranked fourth in the U.S. College Hockey Online and USA Today/American Hockey Magazine polls. It is the 112th straight week the River Hawks have been nationally ranked.

Tsongas Arena/Center Facts and Firsts

On January 26, 2018 the Tsongas Center celebrated its 20th anniversary. The building owned jointly by the city and the state, at the time, opened, as the Tsongas Arena, on January 27, 1998 as Dartmouth defeated UMass Lowell, 2-1, in overtime in the first event of any sort to take place in the venue. Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, joined on ice by her family, did as she had twenty years ago and officiate at the ceremonial puck drop.UMass Lowell is 197-149-37 all-time in the building now owned by the university.
