It was extra painful for me having to self-isolate this week preventing me from attending with you at the PNE grounds. Though I must say the efforts of the Association and the Regimental wreath parties at key locations has still allowed for us to feel connected on this day. The remembrance at the 29th Battalion CEF Monument at the PNE was very well done and attended by over 75 BCR soldiers online. Please pass on my kudos to all those involved in putting this together. The Wait for me Daddy wreath laying party was befitting for such a special and dear monument to our Regiment. Finally, the readings of the Cpl Alexander and Wu at Christ Church Cathedral as part of a wreath laying party was streamed live and can be found on youtube at https://www.thecathedral.ca/livestreams/34. These efforts show the whole Regimental Family is able to adapt and carry on in face of the greatest challenges of this generation of soldiers.

    AC 2011-165: ALTERNATIVE APPROACH TO ASSESSING MILITARY TRAINING FOR ADVANCED PLACEMENT INTO ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS Kevin James Wainwright, BC Institute of Technology Kevin Wainwright a faculty member in the School of Business at the British Columbia Institute of Tech- nology in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. BCIT has over 50,000 full and part time students and is the second largest post-secondary institute in the province of British Columbia Kevin has his Ph.D. in economics from Simon Fraser University where his fields of specialization were mathematical economics, industrial organization, law and economics, and environmental economics. He is co-author of the book, Fundamen- tal Methods in Mathematical Economics, the most widely adopted text in North American universities in the field of mathematical economics. Kevin is the BCIT Program Head for the Bachelor of Business Ad- ministration program and the director of the SITE Centre of Excellence, the research branch of the BCIT School of Business. He is the faculty sponsor for both the Reservist Re-Entry Program and SIFE BCIT From 2000 to 2005 he served as president of the BCIT Faculty and Staff Association. In May of 2010 Kevin was appointed to the Board of Governors for BCIT Kevin’s professional and academic focus has been in Environmental Economics and the Economics of Education. Recent work includes: the economic impact of BCIT on the provincial economy, an analysis of intellectual property policies in Canadian uni- versities and colleges, and forecasting models predicting student success in business schools, and a study of the impact of carbon taxes on regional airports and airlines.

    Seaforth Highlanders of Canada Host Highland Homecoming, a Free Public Event on Saturday, September 24, 2016 to Celebrate Return to Armoury after Four Years of Renovations (Vancouver, BC) – The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, Vancouver’s Infantry Regiment, www.seaforthhighlanders.ca, invite all to attend Highland Homecoming, on Saturday, September 24th. This day of celebration will include a parade, ceremonies and a military tattoo, as the Regiment returns home to the Seaforth Armoury at 1650 Burrard Street, after four years away. The day’s festivities will begin with a march led by the Seaforth Pipes & Drums, from the Jericho Garrison, where the Seaforth Highlanders have been stationed for the past four years, to the refurbished Seaforth Armoury. The official ceremony to reopen the Armoury will be followed by a formal parade and a Drumhead Ceremony. The afternoon will end with an entertaining and spirited military tattoo with musical performances. Approximately 250 Seaforth Highlanders of Canada members, Cadets and Regimental Association Members will participate in the day. Music and entertainment will be provided by the Seaforth Highlanders Pipes and Drums, the Band of the 15th Field Regiment, the Vancouver Police Pipe Band, Shot of Scotch Vancouver Highland Dancers, male vocal choir Chor Leoni, along with many others. During the past four years, the Seaforth Armoury has undergone extensive seismic upgrades and had its building services modernized to allow the Seaforths to continue to respond to domestic emergencies such as earthquakes, wildfires, and floods as well as train to serve overseas in Afghanistan and elsewhere. The Armoury was originally opened in August 1936, and is the home of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada and two Cadet Corps.

It appears that Councillors Adriane Carr and Sarah-Young are trying to convince you that these products should be eliminated from use in your city by 2025. I am personally not a stakeholder in this issue, nor am I trying to interfere with any regulatory decision you deem necessary to control these products. I live and work in the US. Nevertheless, I am a source of facts about the design and use of Page 2 of 6 cordless and gasoline powered lawn care products that will be enlightening to you. I know the issue is the gasoline powered engine, but what I will be talking about here is primarily the leaf blower because this is the impetus of this effort. Most of the facts I share with you will be applicable to all gasoline powered lawn care products. I single out the leaf blower in this area because it is the only device that has deliberately been sound attenuated by design.
