Radio 1‟s lighting brief was demanding – they wanted a stunning visual show to keep energy levels pumped for revellers dancing the night away – easily achieved with their Pearl 2000 and pyramid of light”

Equipment knowledge

Computer design and virtualiser Self-taught quickly on home computer, to a high level, in the following:

Google SketchUp (free version): creating detailed designs for stages, events, domestic interiors. Sketches are:  Accurate and thorough, applied by set builders, home builders, electricians and joiners with no need for further information  Artistic and attractive, presented to clients, promoters and potential event sponsors

Pearl virtualiser: used this software to design & pre-programme complex, high profile gigs at home, saving time on site

Boards  Avo Pearl 2008 – 6 years regular experience – excellent understanding. In regular contact with Avolites, London. As Production Designer for the 3-day festival, I did a range of designs throughout the yearlong planning process

Samples here include planning the site, showing advertising options to sponsors, choosing marquees, conceptual dreams for stages, and details for the techies

Heat NYE at Brixton Academy

I was personally requested as operator by the Heat promoters 5 years in a row for their NYE event at Brixton Academy, which is one of London’s main NYE raves, for 4500 people

Major lighting/pyro/video/props countdown event for midnight

Did many gigs in this venue but these nights were my favourite

Glastonbury – Radio 1 stage

Ran the Radio 1 stage with very little backup at many major festies 2001–03, including 3 times at Glastonbury, designing the 2002 version shown “retina- here. burning” Avolites website

As the latest running stage at Glastonbury, this attracted a crowd of thousands each night.

And Howard Marks by day.

Despite Glasto’s big band attractions, Time Out, London’s weekly entertainment bible, regularly used the Radio 1 stage to represent the festival
