MASTER PROGRAM CATEGORY AND CLASS BREAKDOWN USED FOR THE ANNUAL IIC, CERTIFICATIONS AND PLACEMENT PORTFOLIOS

COMMERCIAL CATEGORY CLASS BREAKDOWN; C1 ADVERTISING An advertising image should clearly send the message to the viewer on what is being advertised. Example: If the image is a bottle of liquor or a bottle of perfume, then most likely there will be text when advertised in a magazine setting. If the image is per say from a fashion shoot, it would be advised to show the image in a magazine style layout with text. The same would go for an ad with more than one person or a product that is not clear on what is being advertised. The image or ad should look as it is ready to be published. C2 ARCHITECTURE An architectural image that is entered into commercial architecture class should reflect an image that a client can use for purposes of reporting and or advertising. The title of the image should encompass a part or whole name of the project. Images can be of building interiors, building exteriors, shots of interior design etc. C3 AERIAL AND DRONE Commercial category for aerial and drone class are for images that are to be used commercially only. Example of these types of images would be: a construction project in commercial or industrial, a golf course or hotel from above for advertising, a city or area overview for tourism and anything that has to do with capturing a project from above for commercial use. It should be clear via the image name on use of the image. C4 BEAUTY AND FASHION Images of beauty and fashion must encompass at least one person. If you are using perfume, jewelry, or makeup alone without a person. it should be used in the Advertising C1 or Product C7 classes. C5 EDITORIAL OR PRESS Editorial Images are images that are used for an article to be published in a magazine. Press images are images that are used to report a story or incident in the media. Press images are NOT to be altered in way other than the basic adjustment of , contrast and colour. images may be used. Absolutely no adding or removing of object is allowed. C6 BOTANICAL Images in the commercial class of botanical are images used for reference in books and magazines. Image name should include the common name as this should be know if selling for stock. Example: Jasmine, rose, tulips. No need to include the Botanical Name. C7 FOOD AND PRODUCT Food and product images should clearly send the message of the product. Food and product images are used in cookbooks and other various advertising assignments. No text is allowed in this category as in C1. Names appearing on products that would be on bottles and such are allowed. C8 INDUSTRIAL Industrial images are usually used in both the overview of an industrial project and or close up of people at work in the industrial field. Examples of industrial images are: oil and gas industry, warehousing, industrial plants or process piping etc. C9 SPORTS (Paid or Olympics) This class can include any type of sport. Organized or Adventure Sports. Organized sports are sports that the athletes are paid for. Example: hockey, football, golfing, baseball, Olympic Sports are also included in this category. Adventure sports are more the hobby sports. It could be surfing, skiing, parasailing, scuba diving, a neighbourhood sports. C10 CORPORATE PORTRAIT Corporate portraits are portrait for business purposes. Portrait may be taken in an office environment or an environment that speaks of the business person/people and what they do. Studio corporate portraits may be used. C11 TRAVEL Travel images are images that can be used for when advertising tourism.

DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION CATEGORY CLASS BREAKDOWN; D1 DIGITAL ART – COMMERCIAL USE Advertising that is digital created may be created by using a part of a and digitally adding or including a backdrop or background that has been digitally created. These images may or may not use a photograph and may be created 100% by digital method. Image must be clear on the advertisement trying to accomplish. D2 DIGITAL FINE ART In this category anything goes. Image may be 100% digital or images may have part of a photograph or part of many . The end result must be pleasing. This category is for the artist at heart. D3 DIGITAL ILLUSTRATIVE STORYTELLING Digital illustrative story telling is when images are created with a story line. We have included a link that will show some inspiration for this category. http://www.thomrouse.com D4 DIGITALLY ALTERED PORTRAIT Illustrative Portraits are images taken of a person in a studio and then placing them in a fantasy or environment that the artist versioned. Images must include at least one portrait. FINE ART CATEGORY CLASS BREAKDOWN; F1 ABSTRACT This class is for abstract images for when the finished product has an artistic finish and may be used as a piece of art that can hang on a wall. F2 ALTERNATIVE PHOTOGRAPHIC PROCESSES There are various types or alternative methods of photography. These include glass plate photography, pinhole photography, , , and working with the process. When entering into this class please include the style in brackets at the end of the name. Example Walking in the Rain (pinhole) or The Tribe Chief (wet plate). F3 FINE ART ARCHITECTURE Fine Art Architecture are considered unique images of Architecture that are sold for displaying in homes and offices. This usually comes from a part of a building a whole building or architecture feature. They may include Architecture that is digitally altered. Images are sold for fine art purposes and not for commercial purposes. Images may include newer buildings, historical building, bridges, and architectural fountains statues and so on. F4 FINE ART AERIAL OR DRONE Fine Art Arial or Drone class images are images that display landscapes from above that may be used for art to hang on a wall. These images should not look commercial in any way and should look artistic. F5 BLACK AND WHITE Black and white fine art images may be of landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, fine art architecture, travel images, floral, panoramas. May include anything in the Fine Art Category. F6 CITYSCAPES Cityscapes are landscapes that are in their environment (the city). Cityscapes Landscapes may include bridges, overview of a city or town, a street or area, architecture that a certain city is famous for or anything that speaks of a city or urban environment. F7 CITYSCAPES - PAINTERLY AND OR ARTISTIC Same as F6 however must encompass an artistic finish. Image editing MUST be completed by the photographer/artist submitting. F8 CITYSCAPE - PANORAMA Same as F6, however must be a panoramic image that has been stitched with 2 or more images. An image cropped as a Panorama should not be included in this class. F9 FINE ART LANDSCAPES OR SEASCAPE Fine Art Landscapes are landscapes that can also be purchased as art to hang on a wall or be displayed in an art show. This class is for landscapes and seascapes only and not for cityscapes. Images must have a natural environment feel to it. This class may include objects such as barns, lighthouses, wildlife. Objects may only encompass a smaller percentage of the overall landscape. F10 FINE ART LANDSCAPES OR SEASCAPE - PAINTERLY AND OR ARTISTIC Painterly Fine Art Landscapes are landscapes that can also be purchased as art to hang on a wall or be displayed in an art show. This class is for landscapes only and not cityscapes so images must have a natural environment feel to it. This class may include objects such as barns, lighthouses, wildlife. Image can be full body, partial body or anything that is visually artistic. Boudoir images are not entered into this category. Images must be of good taste and not erotica style images. Images may have the painterly effect and other affects that will create a piece of art. F14 MACRO OR MICROSCOPIC PHOTOGRAPHY Images of Macro or Microscopic Photography need to be unique and able to hang as a piece of art on a wall. Some images for this class may include insects, floral and so much more. F15 STILL LIFE Fine Art may be of anything that you can create into a piece of art. It can be a vase, a bike, a car, an apple a door lock anything that is a still item and that can be seen hanging on a wall or in an art display. F16 Images of street photography are usually captured during trips to other places or during a walk in your own town or city. Street photography images usually have a human element in them. F17 FINE ART NATURE Is for wildlife, sea life and birds. This class does not include pets. A Fine Art Nature image should be an image that can hang on a wall as an art piece. Textures or painterly effects are allowed in this class.

NATURE CATEGORY CLASS BREAKDOWN; (NO HUMAN ELEMENT, TEXTURES OR PAINTERLY EFFECT ALLOWED, REMOVING OF ITEMS TO CLEAN UP IMAGE IS ALLOWED, ADDING ITEMS LIKE NEW SKIES TO IMAGE IS NOT ALLOWED. THESE TYPES OF IMAGES WOULD THEN BELONG TO DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION CATEGORY). N1 BIRDS AND BIRDS OF PREY This class is for any type of bird. It can be a parrot, a bird in the wild, an eagle, a pheasant anything that has feathers. Birds can be captured in any environment. Including the name of the type of bird is a bonus but not necessary. No human elements, textures or painterly effects allowed. N2 BOTANICAL Botanical images are used for reference material, magazines and advertising. No human elements, textures or painterly effects allowed. N3 NATURES MACRO This class is for anything in nature that can be captured with technics. No human elements, textures or painterly effects allowed. N4 NATURAL LANDSCAPES Natural Landscapes are landscapes that are in their environment. Natural Landscapes DO NOT include any human element. No human elements, textures or painterly effects allowed. N5 NATURAL SEASCAPES/WATERSCAPES Natural seascapes are seascapes that are in their environment (the sea) Natural seascapes DO NOT include any human element. No human elements, textures or painterly effects allowed. N6 SEA LIFE Sea life images are image of anything that lives in water. Sea life images can be captured in any environment. Including the name of the type of sea life is a bonus but not necessary. No human elements, textures or painterly effects allowed.

N7 WILDLIFE Wildlife images are images of any wildlife that roam wild on land and is not a pet, however images may be captured on a wildlife farm or zoo. Including the name of the type of wildlife is a bonus but not necessary. No human elements, textures or painterly effects allowed.

PORTRAIT CATEGORY CLASS BREAKDOWN; P1 CHILD PORTRAIT Child portrait class is for children’s portraits of 1 or more in a posed environment in studio or outdoors. P2 CHILD PORTRAIT STORY The Child Portrait story class is for children’s portraits of 1 or more children that are not posed however tells a story. P3 COUPLES AND ENGAGEMENT Couples and engagement class can be taken in any environment. Can as well be a post wedding image. Must only encompass one couple. P4 PORTRAIT (1 PERSON) Portrait class can include any type of portrait of a single person. Does not include corporate or wedding. P5 FAMILY PORTRAIT (2 OR MORE) Family class is only for a family of at least 2. Must include at least one parent or guardian and one child. P6 FINE ART PORTRAIT Fine Art Portraits are for portraits out of the ordinary. Fine Art Portrait class is for portraits out of the ordinary. They usually have a painterly look and feel but not necessary. They may be finished with textures; they are anything that will give the portrait an artistic finish. Image editing MUST be completed by the photographer/artist submitting. P7 TRADITIONAL PORTRAIT Traditional portraits are portraits that have been created in studio with tradition posing and lighting. These portraits can as well be painted portraits however not to the extent of class P6

P8 PORTRAIT STORY (Non-Child) Portrait Story images should easily show the viewer the story you are trying to tell. Portrait Story images with changing of background should be entered into the D3- Digital Illustrative Storytelling class or D4-Portrait class under Digital Illustration. P9 MATERNITY Maternity images may be captured in studio, outdoors and or underwater. P10 NEWBORN Newborn photos are photos of newborns up to 30 days. P11 PET PHOTOGRAPHY Pet photography images can include images of pets in studio or outdoors. P12 WOMEN’S PHOTOGRAPHY Women’s photography class is for boudoir photography, pin up, fine art women’s portraits and any style that portrays a woman in a sensual way. P13 UNDERWATER Underwater portrait photography must consist of at least one person. WEDDING CATEGORIES CLASS BREAKDOWN; To be eligible for Wedding Photographer of the Year, (POY) all images must be captured from an actual wedding couple. For trash the dress category images can be post wedding however must be from an actual wedding and not from models, proof may be requested W1 BRIDE'S TALE Brides Tale class is all about the bride. Examples of images are: the bride getting ready, her interaction with others, with her parents. The focus of the image must be on the bride. W2 GROOM'S TALE Grooms Tale class is all about the groom. Examples: the groom getting ready, his interaction with others, with his parents, his best friend. The focus of the image must be on the groom. W3 BRIDAL PARTY Bridal Party class is anything to do with the bridal party. Images can be with the bride and bridesmaids, the groom and groomsmen, or the whole group together. W4 WEDDING COUPLE Wedding couple class images are about the wedding couple only. Images can be candid or posed. W5 WEDDING CEREMONY Wedding ceremony class images are about anything during the ceremony and the wedding couples vows. W6 WEDDING DETAILS Wedding details images are about the fine little things that create the perfect wedding. The flowers, the rings, the wedding dress, the table settings, the champagne glasses. A successful wedding detail image will have the full focus on that detail. W7 WEDDING FORMALS INCLUDING STUDIO FORMALS Wedding formals are usually images that include the family with the couple. W8 WEDDING CREATIVE Wedding creative images are images that have been captured for a magazine or for fun. Wedding Creative category does count towards the POY award. W9 WEDDING RECEPTION Candid images taken at the reception. Can be the bride’s first dance, the toast to the bride, the cake cutting, the interaction of the bride and groom with family and friends. W10 TRASH THE DRESS Images created are post wedding images that displays the elegance of the wedding gown and or clothing in an setting in which it is out of place.
